Jen - a work in progress got a reaction from SimplySue in Newbie looking for Oct sleevers!
I think the biggest issue is me being so picky. I tried tuna, but I really don't like tuna and threw it out. I've never been a fan of seafood with the exception of crab legs and shrimp and I'm not sure if those are allowed yet because of the texture. I only recently started eating salmon, and it's ok in small amounts but after 4 days straight, my taste buds were done with salmon. I started out trying to use Protein Shakes against his wishes (I'm a bit of a rebel lol), but they don't sit well with me and made me feel like throwing up, so I stopped using them. They seemed to be too foamy or something. I'd let them settle for a few minutes before drinking them but that didn't help either.
I'll try picking up some string cheese. I was eating sliced cheese and cheese curds (I swear that it reformed into a giant cheese curd in my intestines and I felt it working it's way all the way thru... TMI). Maybe string cheese will go down smoother.
I'm making my kids some chicken legs tonight for dinner and will pull the meat off of some for myself. It won't be pureed, but I'll chew chew chew amd then chew chew chew some more lol.
I guess I kinda looked at my meal options like this... I can have some malt-o-meal and get maybe 2g of protein or a yogurt and get 12g = yogurt won. Same with cottage cheese for 7g or a yogurt for 12g. I'm going to buy more eggs today and whip up a batch of deviled eggs. I'll make enough for the kids and then save some on my "Mom's only" shelf in the fridge (my kids would clean me out if I didn't have one lol).
I'll attach my meal plans and options they gave me.

Weighed this morning 3 weeks post op 30 lbs down!!!! Started some soft foods last night. Tilapia was so yummy. Only able to eat barley half of a small piece but enjoyed every bite. Still having side pain but sucking it up!! Feeling great. Love hearing people say "I am melting away".

I had samples of bipro that I liked prior to surgery that sounds similar. I got them from my dietician so I may ask her for more to see if they taste good still. Also, I tried to powdered milk in my skim milk (fortified milk as my dietician calls it) and I didn't like it. I'm not a big milk drinker to begin with so I sometimes add a drop of light chocolate Syrup to it for some flavor. Not the best habit going forward, but right now I'm still operating within my allowed calories.

@@Jen - a work in progress I'm blown away that you're allowed to have poultry and meat already. I got a pretty intense lecture at 15 days post op for trying chicken even though it was minced up and in mayo for chicken salad. I would LOVE meatloaf or meatballs.

Jen..... the unprofessional part wants me to tell you to just go have a Protein shake ! I mean really... against Protein shakes.. WTH. I don't get that !!!! What about some soft flaky fish? cheese sticks are soft. I was cleared for those and puree foods. Shredded cheese? maybe some soft tuna... just chew chew chew !!!
Today I had 1.5 ounces of meatloaf. I'm happy with that amount. It's right on the edge of being too much !
damn jen.. I can't get over that.. no Protein shakes..

various kinds but mostly Yoplait Greek 100 vanilla which has 13g per container or Dannon Oikos but those tend to be higher in sugar (although I can tolerate them without any symptoms). It takes me about 45 mins to eat one, but I can finally eat a whole one. The first few days I was lucky to eat lol. I was sipping on Soups, but they don't have any protein worth counting so I stopped. They were basically fillers. I'm tempted to add another cup of milk in with my waters for an extra 9g of protein.

He's against protein shakes altogether. They want me to get me protein from food sources, but also don't expect me to hit 60g right away. I get 18g from the milk. I get about 12g from the Greek yogurt for Breakfast and 7g from the cottage cheese at lunch. I was trying to eat salmon for dinner which gave me about 14g. That totals 51g. If I just stuck with 2 Greek yogurts for 24g + milk 18g + meat for dinner 14, I'd be pretty darn close to 60g. I'm just sick of yogurt now. My foods are supposed to be pureed for the first 2 weeks and I can't eat pureed meat, I just can't lol. After the 10th I can go to fork mashable foods, which may help. I just get bored with food and then don't want to eat. I'd call but I kinda already know what they're going to tell me.

So 1.5wks out and I'm bored with yogurt and cottage cheese. I'm not supposed to have Protein shakes and the Un.jury I purchased doesn't sit well with me postop anyhow. That will be going back to the factory. I'm not a fan of eggs in the least bit but the deviled eggs are really starting to sound good. I'm out of Protein food options! I'm a picky eater and it pretty much sucks! I'm looking forward to being able to eat chicken and steak again for Protein. I was eating salmon but I'm tired of that too and I don't really care for fish to begin with. I keep up with my Water and 2 glasses of milk every day (which gives me 18g or protein). Idk what else to try right now... It's frustrating...
On a positive note: I'm down in weight and was goofing off and checked some of my measurements and saw I lost a few inches as well. Yippee!! Lol

    Hey everybody!!!
Chell- you go girl!!! I may do the Cresent City Classic here in New Orleans when it's time. I currently been walking 2 to 4 miles a day.
Anyone has a fitbit? Please feel free to add me lovelytrl.
I'm excited about the outcome of surgery but I'm deadly afraid of next week! We are going on a 7 day cruise. My family and I go every year. With all the food options I'm offered a variety but the experience of food will be sooo different. When you only can get a few bites in before you are full makes it weird during the dinning experience but I'll be surrounded by family so I should be okay.
After surgery I took off a month so I'm scheduled to return on November 17th. I've been getting messages from my co-workers telling me how much I'm missed but I needed this month off to reintroduce myself to my new way of living plus that's what FMLA is for.
Congrats to all the Sleevers that are finding their way and all the soon to be Sleevers who will join us in this great journey!

my first post op will be at 2 weeks. I was given a list of my post op appointments timeline. It listed when a follow up was expected, who I would be seeing, and what is expected to be done at that specific appt (physical, blood work, NUT eval, etc).

I think that smoking is smoking and it's going to hinder your healing and therefore is not allowed. Just my educated guess though.

WOW, I'm surprised that your surgeon is even allowing you have surgery and still smoke. I met a lady at the gym the other day that has the same surgeon as I do. She's a smoker and I'm not. She told me that our doctor refused to even consider doing her surgery as long as she was smoking. The doctor said she had to have documented proof that she had not smoked within 90 days of surgery.
Apparently smoking and surgery is nothing to play around with.

Its the big bubble looking thing that you put Water in the bottom and it has a bowl on top for coals and smoking tubes that come out the sides.

I left a message with the office and a nurse called back this afternoon and apologized and said that they made a mistake and spoke to me for awhile. I' m sure if I needed to she would have made an appointment but since I will be seeing my primary on Mon I figure things should be fine.
On another note... Rough day. I could only get in a very small amount of my Protein shake and I was done. My stomach hurt and just had no appetite for it. Although I was able to get my Water and Gatorade and Vitamins in. Is easing into the shakes to be expected?

I have also been struggling to get all my Protein in and have been down right HUNGRY! I was sleeved on the 23rd. It has been a rough road. I gave thought many times about testing my sleeve and trying to eat food. I haven't though and once I started passing gas (TO I I KNOW) and bowels moving. (Again TMI) I started feeling better, also moving more helps. But am still hungry! I am still very swollen as well. I actually weigh more now than the day of surgery. Only 5 lbs more, but still more. Hopefully this part will be over soon and we can move forward to happier, less hungry place. We can do this!!

I was sleeved on the 22nd. I'm only now feeling more human and actually showered! Lots of nausea and hunger!!! I wasn't really prepared for how hungry I would be. I am so glad to hear people doing well with no problems but I am struggling some. How are people getting their Protein (since I know this is what will help the hunger) without Protein shakes. My surgeon doesn't want us using them. Thanks and congrats to all who are doing well.

I am doing great. Surgery went well, Recovery has been fairly easy. Haven't had pain meds in a week. Been walking everyday. I'm amazed how little I can eat now. Even on liquids, I get full so fast. It's crazy. I'm down 10 pounds since surgery. I'm looking forward to getting off straight liquids! I've struggled with Protein Drinks since surgery. They are just all too sweet. But, I found GENEPRO Protein and it has saved me! All in all, no regrets. So happy I did this and can't wait to see more results.
