According to a new yahoo article; The body stores the excess Protein or carbs in a person's diet in form of fat, specifically, as triglyceride moleclues, which consist of just three kinds of atoms: carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. In order to "burn" fat these triglycerides must break up into building blocks, which happens in a process known as oxidation. And the chemical process of burning that fat will produce carbon dioxide and Water, Therefore 84 percent of the fat that is lost turns into carbon dioxide and leaves the body through the lungs the balance is water and, well you know how we eliminate water. I just found this to be interesting is all... You can read the entire artilcle here... http://news.yahoo.com/exhaled-pounds-fat-leaves-body-001427049.html
  2. Don't know, I take Krill oil for the omega's. Just don't take if you are on an anticoagulant.
  3. You would be surprised how many people look at me like I have two heads when I mention PB and Bacon! Glad I am not alone!
  4. NUTS! omg I forgot about NUTS. Individual packets of almonds or mixed nuts, A jar of homemade trail mix on the counter. Pecans, almonds and Macadamia's! I just grab a few when the urge to snack hits me.
  5. You are very very correct... and I have made the best of the situation I could for over 40 years now... But since this is a Rant and Rave thread.... I just needed to vent... Thanks for listening and the advice.
  6. OH I wish it was going to be that easy..... Her other great obsession, besides Gossip, is to fix you 3 meals a day, each more food than you could ever eat. I really don't know how everyone in that family remained at normal weights. They aren't skinny but normal. Not obese. Breads, jello's, potatoes, gravy, and Desserts, a meal isn't complete without dessert. Protein is limited and rationed out by her. Comes from growing up poor I suppose. So even if she is prevented from discussing my surgery/weight loss etc.. she will obsess about what I can and cannot eat even if I tell her not too. Can you see why I live 1000 miles away and only visit once a year? I will have to have some premade shakes and Protein Bars stashed with me. I plan on telling her Not to worry I can eat anything and leave it at that.
  7. Such great ideas! here are mine; A Case of Bottled Water, Jerky and Protein bars are always in my car cheese = Life Baby bels, string cheese, fancy cheeses (special order from the cheese store my niece works at and overnighted to me!) yes expensive but I am so worth it! Hummus and Blue Diamond Almond crisps ( crackers made from rice and almond flour) crunchy heaven. Sabra Hummus is now available in little 'to go' cups. speaking of little cups, unsweetened applesauce and other fruits. The mini cans of low sodium V8, they taste plenty salty to me now. I buy fresh fish on sale, cut it up into mini me size portions (about a 2" x 2" cube) freeze them in vacuum sealed bags (no freezer burn) when I want a quick high protein meal, I take one out, nuke it for 30 seconds to thaw, wrap it in a slice of bacon, did I mention bacon? I always have bacon . Then pop it under the broiler, watch carefully and turn several times until the bacon is getting crispy. Plate and eat! On weekends I make a huge crockpot of whatever strikes my fancy, pot roast, chili, beef stew, homemade soup or chicken stew. We have one or two meals from this then the rest is divided into small plastic containers and frozen. During the work week, I can throw one in my lunch box and nuke it at work. Love all the ideas, but I am going to get some shrimp and look for those crustless quiche!
  8. Now my refrigerator is Tiny Leftovers Land. There are so many tiny containers in there, all with food I would not have not even saved before. Who saves two tablespoons of mashed potatoes. I bought 4 potatoes last week. Well, one potato makes enough for 4 meals as a side. I still have 3 potatoes left. Next time I'll have to buy 2. I don't even have pots small enough to make one mashed potato. A can of Beans will last and last. Jeez, I'll have to freeze leftover beans because all I need is 6 or 8 beans at a time. I made Pasta with tomato sauce last night. One jar of sauce will last until next century. CAUTION! Be very careful of those leftovers! Unless you freeze them, throw them out after 4 days! Even in the fridge bad little things will GROW. And you sure don't want food poisoning or just plain stomach upset at this stage of the game, or any stage for that matter!
  9. Along the Peanut Butter thread.... Peanut Butter, Bologna and Swiss cheese sandwiches. OR Peanut butter and Bacon sanwiches... yum!!!!
  10. OK Lipstick Lady... here's one.. I did not tell my husband's family. They live 1000 miles away. However my husband told his mother. Now this lady has never had a weight problem in her life.. she is simply too self disciplined and full of nervous engergy to become over weight, and I am sure, thinks anyone else should be able to control their own weight also. She is also very OPINIONATED and has on more that one occasion told me what she thinks... Once told me I was an alcoholic.( I am not). I wont see her until next Summer, a full YEAR after my surgery. And I avoid talking to her on the phone. However my husband calls her a couple times a month and I know they talk about me. He will even holler at me " HEY, how much have you lost?" to tell her. And Yes I have told him not to discuss me with her. I am a pretty private person, and I don't discuss my health with my mother in law. But it will come up when we go there. She won't leave it alone, I know her. She LIVES to Gossip about people. What can I say to this 80 year old woman? I can't be rude, but I do not want to be the topic of conversation while we are there. HELP!
  11. An entire frozen pizza (cooked of course) with about a half a pound of cheese and a can of olives added to the toppings. An Entire Recipe of Shrimp Alfredo ( entire jar of alfredo sauce and a pound of shrimp) The aforementioned Footlong tuna Sub and chips Crusty sourdough bread, the whole loaf one slice at a time, slathered with BUTTER. Popcorn, the entire bag was just an after dinner snack. An entire bag of Rold Gold pretzels or BBQ potato chips and a quart of milk. OMG looking back it's no wonder.....
  12. OMG! That is SOOOO funny and hits right at my workplace too. The other shift is FOREVER leaving boxes of day old donuts around! So very tempting at 6:30 in the morning.
  13. Please share what brand of 'shaper' this is....
  14. $10,000 in Las Vegas, one day surgery owned by the Surgeon. Pay cash up front and you are done.... No trip to Mexico no hospital stay, no bills.

  16. Posted this las week So today pulled out a size 16 pair of Alfred Dunner slacks I bought a month ago at the GW w/o trying them on.. They FIT! A NSV! I guess my 'gut' is shrinking after all.. Does anyone else just HATE how different brands' sizes are different? Size 16 Alfred Dunner, Size 18 Gloria Vanderbuilts and still size 20 L.B. Venizia jeans... grrrrrr....

  19. I bought 2, yes two coats at Lane Bryant last March on sale.. big markdown. Now they are both way big... but I can layer sweaters underneath and I was never a fashionista so they will do for this winter... Next winter? Who knows.
  20. My upper stomach waist area has shrink some. But not the lower part... Lol!
  21. I have one called a Game Winner..... think it is marketed under several different names. They are sold at places like Cabela's and Bass Pro... Almost any brand will work. I would suggest making sure it has variable temperature settings and perhaps a timer. I make Jerky, dry herbs and fruit. The Grandkids LOVE making jerky and trying different recipies!
  22. This gave me an idea.... stopped at the store and bought some prosciutto, and Neufchatel cheese (less fat same protein/taste as cream cheese) and this morning made 2 kinds of roll ups. One with a tiny slice of dill pickle the other with my favorite Medjool dates! Split the dates open and remove the pit, then steam for just a minute to loosen the tough skin, remove the skin and add a slice of the cheese and then roll up in a piece of the Prosciutto! I call them Angel Dates! In response to Devil Dates which are delish also! (dates filled with cheese and jalapeno wrapped in bacon) Also harking back to Pumpkin Spice..... found Philly cream cheese in Pumpkin Spice flavor! Devine on Blue Diamond Pecan Nut Crisps! See I don't miss Oreos at all!
  23. This... is my LIFE. I had a procedure, I go on journeys, I have adventures. But this is my LIFE!
