I have had such a time since my surgery finding a Protein I could keep on my stomach. Premier is finally working and I'm starting to feeling better. Not running to the bathroom 5 minutes after drinking it and getting my protein in. Yay. I was really starting to get worried I wasnt eating and not getting enough nutrition in.

I remember every single insult and person who felt it was their duty to " help " me with my weight problem. What they did not know is what drove me there besides putting food into my mouth.
People who think that they can save the world by pointing out others obvious flaws according to them is a real turn off. Now by example a person can make a difference.
It is much bigger then you need to have WLS. It is an adjustment that needs to be made from the money making food industry to diet companies to the government that do not promote good eating habits and food choices. It is many who do not have the funds to eat well a lot of folks don't have a clue how to in the first place....
Round and round we go..... Mostly it is a lesson to be learned and it is learned hard.
When I think of all those people who looked at me sideways or laughed at me. Stopped their car in front of my house to stare at the fat girl gardening and so on. I wish I had kicked them right where it hurts..Like it hurt me. While they went away feeling like they had accomplished a good deed by making me cry. They were completely wrong.
Giving advice freely without being asked is a whole lot of bad to deal with. Now if you are asked...Lay it out for them....Otherwise you don't have a clue what makes that person tick and what stage they are at in life. In fact I would say it would be a lot like how that Katie Hopkins of the UK comes across!
This is the hardest addiction to fix. So I personally do not question anyone or judge anyone who struggles with weight as I have been there and done that and will fight the rest of my life this battle of weight gain and loss.......

You aren't going to stretch your sleeve with this one minor slip. I think you should just be really diligent and stick to your allowed foods as close as possible. It is not the stretching you should be so concerned with but the fact you might be eating foods that can affect your sleeve. If you are having some snack attack issues call your nut and see what is recommended for you within your phase and in your caloric intake. wish you the best!

Take a breath. You're going to be okay. Learn from the experience. You do not need to do penance and punish yourself tomorrow by backtracking to liquids. Just pick up from where you are. This plan will take some time to adapt to. Be nice you yourself!!
    Good luck!

You will be fine. There will be a lot of trial and error ahead. You WILL get overfull many many times as you try new foods, overestimate how much you can eat at once, accidentally eat too fast, etc. You won't stretch your sleeve. If making yourself overfull one time.... or even twenty times... stretched our sleeves, we would all be doomed!

@@mns112182, I am sorry you had that experience. That assistant should be fired. Obviously she is incompetent and insensitive. I'd report her to the surgeon personally. Hopefully the surgeon isn't as big an idiot as her. They owe you an apology. YOU ARE THE CUSTOMER!! You do NOT deserve such treatment. And furthermore, you are absolutely correct in your comment that everyone does not lose at the same pace. You've lost 40 lbs!! That is awesome and more will come. This is not a race -- it is your life!! You are on your own timeline and do not let that bully discourage you any further. Insist that you see your doctor only from now on and remember that doctor should treat you like royalty!!

I don't really see the point in tracking unless you aren't losing or maintaining (depending on where you are in your journey). If you are struggling to lose or you're gaining weight, then sure, track and try to figure out what the problem is. But if you are on track, then why worry about tracking anything other than maybe Protein? I find it easy enough to keep a tally of protein in my my head without writing it down. As long as I get my protein and my Water and I am losing weight, what's the point of tracking anything else?

I had VSG 15 months ago and have lost 100 pounds. I reached my surgeons goal at 6 1/2 months, my personal goal at 7 1/2 months, then lost another 10 pounds and have been maintaining in the middle of normal BMI range for over 6 months. And I've done this without weighing or measuring or logging a single bite of food. I followed my surgeons postop directions to a T, ate mostly Protein and veggies until I reached surgeons goal and have simply eaten a well balanced diet of Protein, veggies, fruit and grains since then. I eat when I'm hungry, I eat until satisfied, not full, and I eat pretty much whatever I'm in the mood for....no planning or prepping whatsoever. I eat a lot of leftovers and my vacuum sealer had been awesome. I have a 30-40g protein smoothie and a 10-20g Protein Bar everyday and try to go for protein rich foods for the most part. I also keep a mental tally of fluids to make sure I'm getting at least 64oz/day. I do eat carbs and sweets and alcohol sometimes, but in moderation. That is the extent of my "diet" routine. I don't really think about any of it. I go to the grocery store and wander around the deli and produce sections and up and down the aisle, looking for what looks tasty. I pretty much stay clear of the bakery. Like today, I was taking a friend to a doctors appointment and afterwards she wanted to go to Sizzler. I, of course, overpaid for an all you can eat salad buffet, but it was delicious, I had a little bit of many different things, sticking with more Proteins (meatballs, shrimp, taco fixings without the tortilla, broccoli bacon salad, hard boiled egg, etc) than anything and then topped it off with some cantaloupe and a bit of bread pudding and ice cream. My friend meanwhile (who is 5'2" 105#...bitch????) had 2-3x as much from the salad bar plus a steak and broiled shrimp plus a whole brownie and ice cream for dessert.
I, too have done the diet tracking/logging thing with the zillion diets in the past, and I knew I didn't want to do that after surgery. In fact, in my mind I was having surgery so I wouldn't have to ever do that again. There are many different ways of being successful with WLS, and it IS possible without focusing on every little food detail. For me, it's as simple as my sleeve restricts my portions and I make good choices (most of the time) about what I eat. Pretty simple.

Wow, par1959, judgmental much? I've logged food since 2009. I know how to do it. I've done every day, every bite, every meal for months at a time. I know exactly how long it takes. And it's not simply logging, it's planning every day in advance exactly what to eat. I do not want to live that way forever. I simply do not wish my life to be so food centered. I hope to live more like my "normal" weight friends, who can stay healthy by making good choices but don't have to think about food constantly. So laugh all you want. But if you can't add anything constructive it might be better to keep your thoughts and your laughter to yourself in the future. Or is your goal in life simply to tear people down and attack them? (And your housewives remark says a lot about you.)

I think that, for me, I want to stop my obsession with food. I want food to work for me, not me working for food anymore. I have talked to my nut and therapist about this and they say that my thinking is really good. The problem is making the "skinny person" mentality my own. I have conditioned myself to think that food is love and comfort, I have also conditioned myself to think that to lose weight I have to deprive, or log or count everything. See what I do there, eating is freedom and dieting is punishment. Because I recognize this, I know I am ready to make the change!!!

Welcome and congrats on your surgery and weight loss! Even tho' you will have stalls, they do pass if you're following the rules. Just think of it this way: what will you weigh and look like in one year's time? You have a lot to look forward to, and make sure you are taking measurements, especially during a stall. The measurements will show what the scale won't...SUCCESS! Good luck to you on your journey!

At 4 1/2 weeks, I was just starting whole cooked foods as tolerated. I could eat about 1/3 cup in a half hour or so. I think the first food that I ate out with other people was chili at a Baker's Square. I also had two french fries off of someone else's plate. That was it. 1/3 cup chili and two fries. But we were there about an hour, with plenty of good conversation.
The first time I ate Breakfast out with someone was at a pancake house. They had pancakes, and I got an omelet of which I ate about 1/4 of it in half an hour, and took the rest home.
To kill time, you can do more of the talking and play with your fork, just scooting food around the plate. If anyone asks, just tell them you have not had much of an appetite lately.......you really don't owe anyone an explanation about your health choices. You don't have to lie.......just don't tell everthing you know. True friends will enjoy your company regardless of what you eat.

I also have found the sleeve to reduce my hunger quite significantly. So that would help you. But I agree that your mindset is very important. You may not be ready for WLS -- yet. Keep in mind that you can choose this later if you are not ready now. I will say that I do not crave what I used to and so healthier eating is less of a challenge than it was pre-op. But as many will remind you here, the surgery only reduces your stomach, it does not "fix your brain." You are doing the right thing by researching thoroughly.

I think the only other thing that upsets me more than hearing that bariatric surgery is 'the easy way out', is when I hear someone refer to weight loss surgery as 'cheating'!!! I agree with all the other posts written here, and I've pretty much come to the conclusion that those who feel this way and voice the foolishness of 'ease' and 'cheating' simply are those who simply are showing their ignorance, since they have never gone through the experience or have lived the life of someone who has made this life saving/life changing decision and has in most cases come out the better for it!!!
