  1. Hi and welcome to the site! I live in Sumter, SC. Where are you having your surgery done?
  2. I read her story on another site when I was researching the band. It truly is inspiring!!
  3. I am just starting my own pre-op diet (dr. only requires 2 week Atkins-type diet). Initially, I lost about 5 pounds, but have slowly been creeping back up .5 - 1 pound at a time. A lot of us go through last supper syndrome, which can cause weight gain, so don't stress out too much about putting on a few. Just try to control how much you eat and balance any "slips" with some healthy eating and exercise to keep any gain from being too dramatic. I can't imagine a few pounds would matter too much, but your dr. might not liek ti if you really start packing on the pounds because it will make performing the surgery more difficult. Good luck!!
  4. Kris, I am so sorry what should be an exciting time for you is adding so much stress because of others. There is some good advice here on how to deal with your situation. No one can control us unless we let them and your mother sounds like a very controlling person. This is YOUR journey, don't let her ruin it for you. You have every right to be excited and happy about the new start you are giving yourself. Stop stressing and LIVE IT!! My doctor's office provides what it calls a Bari-Buddy to help people who don't have other resources through the process. This is just someone who has already been through the process and is willing to help their "Buddy" in any way they are needed. That includes being with them through surgery and after. See if your doctor's office offers anything similar. Don't let someone else's need to be in control take away from the happiness of this time for you. Good luck and let us know how things go!
  5. Wow, Dee! Congratulations on making it this far. The summer will be here before you know it and you'll have your band and be on your way! Keeping my fingers crossed for you with the insurance company and finally getting that date set. Good luck!
  6. Hi, Jennifer and welcome! Good luck to you!!
  7. Hi Susan and congratulations on getting your band and your AWWESOME weight loss!! You are off to a wonderful start. Welcome to LBT and good luck to you!!
  8. Sorry for your problems, but don't give up!! Even with the wait, it will be SO worth it once you finally have your band in place and are on your way to a more healthy future. There are MANY people here who have had various problems with their insurance companies. To find how other people have handled Kaiser, do a search for Kaiser and the threads should pop up. Also, check out the forum on insurance. You will see you are not in the boat by yourself when it comes to fighting the insurance company. Good luck to you and hang in there!!
  9. Hi and welcome!! This is a great site for knowledge and support. I ahve been on a few others as well and they just don't seem to have the traffic this one does. More traffic = quicker and more responses to your questions and concerns. Good luck to you and look forward to seeing you around!
  10. There is a link to a thread specifically on adding tickers. You can find it here: http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=16218. Welcom to the board and good luck to you!!
  11. Hi and welcome! Congratulations on your insurance company adding coverage. It's going to be an exciting time for you! Good luck!!
  12. Love the chocolate ones and was planning to try to caramel ones next. SO YUMMY!!! Keep them in my desk at work for that lag time between lunch and quitting time. Great afternoon pick me up.
  13. I use the wash, dry, hydrocortizone method too.:bolt:
  14. Congratulations on your decision, Mike. There are a lot of us on here who have chosen to keep the surgery a secret because of reactions exactly like the ones you got. Good for you for standing up for your health and future. Good luck!
  15. Hi Roslyn! I responded to your question about livening up your liquids stage on another thread. Check the recipes section on the boards. Welcome and good luck!!
  16. Roslyn, Welcome and congratulations on getting your band! Check in the recipes section on the board. There are lots of great ideas there to liven up all the post-op food stages. Good luck to you!!
  17. Wow...that is really sad! Good for you for staying strong under the circumstances. I can definitely see how seeing someone gorge themselves like that could make you really think twice about eating. Stay strong and try not to let her get to you too bad.
  18. Oh wow!! Congratulations! The day will be here before you know it. Good luck!
  19. I am so sorry!! I would definitely be checking into changing doctors. Good luck to you and let us know how things are going.
  20. My biggest worry is failure. I am so afraid of remaining fat for the rest of my life, but I know all I can do is educate myself on the right things to eat, exercise, and hope for the best.
  21. I have to agree with Susan. While you don't want to risk having to postpone surgery, you also don't want to have your band surgery and already have an infection starting. Good luck and let us know how things go.
  22. My doc is a general surgeon as well. He does other types of surgery still, but mostly WLS. Good luck!
  23. Hi and welcome!! Hope all goes well for you. You will be on your way before you know it!
  24. Hi and welcome!! Hope all goes well for you. The doctor's offices are really helpful when it comes to jumping through the hoops of the insurance companies, so don't let that stress you out too bad. Just do what they tell you to and you'll be on your way before you know it!! Good luck!!
