  1. Hello - I'm 5 weeks Post-Op and just last week I decided on having a slice of diet whole wheat bread toasted with egg salad and let me tell you it was delish I took very tiny bites and chewed it very, very well.... Not one problem at all. I was full and it lasted me hours (3-5) before I could eat dinner that evening. Just be careful when eating it and you should be ok. I did have some baked pita chips the other evening and that was a bad idea... Why??? because I didn't slow down to know I had enough of them since they tasted so darn good!!! I must have eatten about 7-8 of them and let me tell you they must have swelled fast with the water I had drank 30 minutes prior. I didn't have pain bit I knew I was full, way overly full... So be careful what items you eat and how fast!! Hope this helps you out. Cynthia
  2. Well I weighed myself at my mothers house last night and I'm up 2lbs since 1/3/08. I just ended TOM and I knew I was able to eat more solid food now that I'm 4 weeks post OP. I'm just shocked a little since I'm really, really watching everything. I think this is just me going from such a small liquid diet to a more solid one and my body needs to adjust. But still I'm disapointed yet I know I'm losing by my clothes, body curves, and softness or dimples forming........ I just HATE scales and I need to remember a scale will not control me or my emotions EVER during this new life of mine... I feel great since my banding and that scale is not going to keep me from feeling like a failure at this point!!! I JUST WON"T
  3. I still drink my shake. I have it everyday for breakfast to start the day. 1 cup Skim milk mixed with a large scoop of Unjuy protein powder (28-30 protein). I then have a snack about 9:30 - 10:00 Banana, hummus with a couple of small pretzels, or nuts. Nothing high in calories about 100-120. I think the shake for me in very helpful to get all my protein in and keep me snacking. How are you doing so far??? How much lost since surgery?? Cynthia
  4. Hi all-wanted to know what Tricare requires to obtain approval and what else may be needed for coverage. My girl friend has Tricare and she wants the band also. please any help would be great. What has your experience been like so far??? Cynthia
  5. Traci - Wow that's wonderful Congrats new Auntie!! So you're from the WNY area... Cheektowaga for me!!! Well bad news is a front is coming in with some really cold air this weekend!! Him sure she wants to stay here, could have them down to FL. LOL I love FL. come down twice a year to Disney. Love it!!! I see were the same age as well....... It would be great being buddies on our journey........ I weigh in tomorrow after almost three weeks of not knowing what I've lost since Post-Op check -up.... But my clothes are really getting bigger and I feel great. I noticed I can eat more and a tiny bit of hunger before some meals.... I can get my first fill on Feb.5th when I see my surgeon next. Not yet sure if I need one yet, should be interesting. I eat betwwen 850-1300 calories, 80-100 protein and 30-48 fat grams a day....... So I feel awesome and I know I'm losing...... The waiting game of when I'll fall into bandster Hell...... LOL LOL Cynthia
  6. Hey Tralynn wow were in the same boat together as far as weight loss numbers. How much did you loose Pre-Op and since banding? Your doing wonderful... I love seeing your numbers. I was banded one month after you. I weigh in tomorrow after two weeks time of the last weigh in. So I'll see what I've done since my Post-Op since 12/28/07. I feel great and hope to have a banster friendship with you. Thanks, Cynthia
  7. Well Ladies and Gents I wanted to let all know I baked last night and never dipped in any of it!! It's exciting. I baked for a school bake sale for my two children. Lemon cake w/ butter frosting and banana cake with the same frosting. The kids picked out the cake mixes. We made them all last night with out not one taste of anything on my part. Past I would have set all left over frosting dishes to the side to finish the left over scrappings once we were done..... All was sent out of the house this morning. So now no fears of returning from work with cake on the counter at all!! This is a major mile stone for me!! It may seem small to some but for me this is a major start to the future for me baking for others with out me getting off the beaten path and starting a binge of all sorts by just tasting the sugary high fat calorie baked goodies!! I'm a bit high on cloud nine..... I just love how I feel with my band........ I'm so happy I have/had all of you to help me make my life better. I've been viewing this board for a year now and decided to explore a surgeon for the band in Aug/07. Banded 12/17/07. What a Christmas gift to myself....... Loving every moment so far!!! Cynthia
  8. Hey I have 250lbs to lose. I wish to join in and make this a family affair......... In the past 5 years I've lost 300lbs so would that count lol, lol First time in 2001/2002 162lbs lost gained back and lost 167lbs 2004/2006 and gained back. Now I'm going to lose it forever and never find any of it!! No returns on that fat EVER..... Thanks guys, Cynthia
  9. That's awesome.... I'm losing right now like crazy with doing almost the same as you are. I weigh in tomorrow. Only once a month on my bandster date each month. 11. Hello fellow bandsters, I wanted to know what everyone else is doing when counting intake daily of Calories, Protein and Fat. I joined DailyPlate.com and it says in order for me to lose 5lbs a week I need to east 1458 calories at my weight as of now. Hmm the doctors twig LOL nutritionist has a basic calorie intake for everyone of 800-1000 calories a day. I range from 950 - 1300 Protein 72-90g and Fat 26-42g. Can I ask what everyone else is doing and what in your experience has been the best? Just wondering if this is a normal range for Calories, protein and fat intake a day. I know I'm dropping fat like crazy since I have clothes already falling off me. I don't weight myself until the 17th two week time frames. Just better for me that way. Please help!!
  12. Hello how are you? I was banded 12/17/07 by the new doctor Hoffman. I'm also from the Buffalo area. Want to be buddies?? I've lost 31 lbs. I'm only two weeks out from banding. Cynthia

  16. Welcome... I know that's a long time to wait!! I have a personal connection with my doctor, he works here at my hospital where I work. He's only here one day a week in our OR to do general surgery. So when I started my doctor checks I found him to be the best in Buffalo... Once we met for the first time in his clinic for Lap-Band he was totally floored he knew me from being around/seen as an employee!! That was my shoe in for good treatment....LOL,LOL,LOL I let him know in a fun way no parties, drinking, sex, plenty of sleep the night before my surgery.... We laughed like crazy..... He has such a bed side mannor that cannot be matched by anyone else.... In my check on him I found out he even jumps in at Children's Hospital here in Buffalo to help in the Surgery unit.... Now that totally melted my heart!!
  17. OMG..... What is your mother thinking??? I have a wacked out family just like yours is........... Just cuz sister wants help with cookies means mom & you have to tag along... It's surgery people... I tell you now don't over do it and run around that day... Relax and take it easy!!! The smell of cookies alone would make me sick that day!!!! Got to love our "mothers" LOL
  18. I just got back from my last weigh-in before surgery Monday. I'm the first one @ 7:30am. I'm very excited and prepared for what needs to be done. Wow this is going to be great!!
  19. Good Morning everyone, I have to say I just love, love, love this board. I'm being banded on Monday 12/17/07 and have gotten a ton of information on what to expect, advice and other info. What I would like to see if from the Banders who can give a list of what I should have in the house after surgery. Such as hints on food, OTC medications, wound supplies... Things that the doctor or staff may have not told you about...But you found helpful to have at reach once you were home and relaxed recovering. I have gotton some ideas but perhaps a bit of feed back to help us up coming Bandsters know.... Thanks everyone. Since I'm in Buffalo and the Holidays are coming getting out and about would be a bit tough... Sending family would be okay, but the less burden on them the better...LOL, LOL Save the favors for other things. Cynthia :help: :help: :help: :help: :) :D
  20. I noticed when I went for my appointment they like to hear that we eat large meals at each sitting not that you graze all day. The head doctor LOL will feel you might eat all day in small nibbles all day and that the lap Band won't work for you. Since once you have a little room you fill it up again only to have no lose. Let them know when you do eat your a volume eatter. :hungry: :hungry: :hungry: The Lap Band is supose to help us large portion people to cut way, way way down. :omg:
  21. Where about are you in UpState, NY We have Dr. Posner, Dr. Forbes and Dr. Hoffman at Buffalo General Hospital. They are awesome!!!
  22. Can anyone tell me about drinking Diet Soda Pop with the Lap-Band. I'm having my surgery Dec.17th. I've totally cut Pop from my diet over a month a go. Not having a hugh problem with this since I only drank one can or bottle a day. I was told you should not drink carbinated drinks with the band. Then I went to a support group meeting and have three members tell me they do and you can that this is not an off limits item. I have an appointment with my Doctor Nov.15th which I plan on asking him about this matter. I just think not drinking it is better for my health no matter what is allowed. Just have to know, just in case I want some to drink some in the future in small amounts. Thank s all
  23. That's an awesome idea.... I know you can do it!! I'll keep you close at heart waiting for your day to come. YOU GO GIRL!!!
