It's been a long time in posting anything. Had my by pass 6/21/15, the by pass itself was successful, but ran into problems. My colon was stapled and I ended up in the hospital for 21 days. Now,6 months away and I feel terrific. I ended up with snowstorms bag for 4 months as my colon healed. Total of 36 days in the hospital from 3 different surgerys. Would I do it again, yes in a minute. I've had surgery to remove the bag and retook up my insides and feel wonderful. Am inFlorida now recoooperating. I walk 3 - 5 miles a day and have no regrets!

Am on day three of my two week pre surgery diet. I am so excited about the future.

Just got that important call, my date is June 2. Have to be at the hospital at 5:30. I am so ready. Just have to call nut to make appoint for pre surgery directions.

Received my approval last Monday. Have an appointment with Dr on May 13 to finalize everything and get a surgery date. Almost a year in time, but will be so worth it.

I am hoping to have a band-to-rny in early November. I chickened out the first time and went with the band. But now I am glad I waited for things have changed and there is a lot more information out there now and groups like this. I was banded in 2005 and hope for the best of possible results this coming November. Also I have noticed the Dr's are much more confident and knowing.

I have decided to delay my surgery till April. I have a busy winter and am going on a cruise the end of March, so after a lot of thought, I am delaying. The nurse told me to call her when I'm ready and she will submit my paperwork. She said its only good for a 30 day approval. This way I will be able to give my full attention to me.

I will finish my 6 visits with the GP on the 5th of Noember. They have all my paper work and tests ready to send to Medicare for approval. Hoping it's a short wait, my nut said medicare has to respond withi 14 days. Then it will just be scheduling waiting.

I am 64.5 and am scheduled for a revision (laoband removal, then bypass) on the 16. Very excited. I had 6 yrs if aspiration pneumonia b4 they figured out it was the lapband! Surgery was postponed once due the surgeon breaking his foot and may get postponed again due to an asthma flare up after having bronchitis! One of my dear friends had bypass at 65 and 5 yrs later she's a new gal!! As long as your doctors give u the go ahead! Go for it. As my surgeon says, obesity is a life threatening illness, like cancer. You'd have surgery to get rid of the cancer. If you've exhausted all other possibilities, surgery may save your life!

I have a lap band and it will be removed and a RNY done. I have thought long and hard about my decision as I 65. My Dr said he has done this on many "older" people and saw no reason for any problems. I am just looking for someone else to talk to going through the same as me.

I am glad to find other seniors here. I am 75 and my surgery probably will be in Nov, I am having gastric by pass. Age was never mentioned when i met with my surgeon. I am so anxious to have this surgery. so glad to find others almostmy age goingthru this. I live in Texas.

I too have decided not to tell anyone. My husband & children are aware of what is going on, but are sworn not to tell anyone. I feel its my life and how I handle it and am at peace with my decision. Someone always has a negative word to say and I just don't care to hear it. After all, I am doing this for me no one else

I am gathering information and recipies for beginning smoothies. How about sharing your favorite recipie?

I had my visit witht eh shrink today. Was amazed it went so well. Was only in there for a half hour. He just asked normal questions and asked about my history and family history. Said the
Dr should have his report by Friday. So just waiting for my six visits with the Dr on weight control to be over. Come on November

Don't know yet just how many visits I'll have to have. Next week is the shrink. I hae to have 6 visits with my GP, and have three down. Hopefully November will be the date for me.

I got a band in 2005. I though it was for me and didn't want to have RNY surgery. Well, I went to my Dr on June 5 and asked two questions. 1. Am I too old (65) (no) 2. can I get a revision. He said yes. This time around I feel like I will have more time to put my full effort into it. As I was working last time. Am starteing to get excited, had an ultra sound on gallbladder,chest exray, ekg, and upper gi last thursday. No surprises.
