  1. I am surprised he gave you a goal related to pounds. For me, the most effective goals are related to actions/inputs and not results, Following your program. Getting in your fluids and protein. Avoiding starches and added sugars. Taking your Vitamins and supplements. Exercising. Etc. are better goals. If you do that, you will see weight loss. It might be more, it might be less, or it might be exactly 25 pounds, but none of us can control that number. My guess is that 25 pounds is a guesstimate and not a proscription /requirement anyway. Just my thoughts. And, Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall!
  2. I missed the show last week, so this fun fact was on the "super sized" repeat of last week's episode.
  3. It is a full time job for a while post-op. You may have to get out pen and paper and make a schedule. Set short term milestones/goals and just keep at it. It gets easier.
  4. I find her incredibly annoying and sad. Tonight's revelation: she has never bought her own car or had a car payment. She is always putting her dance class in a position to perform unprepared but it's all about her. She participated/performed in a PARADE and didn't seem to smile, laugh, or have one bit of fun. It seems like it would be right up her alley since she is so starved for attention. She has absolutely NO boundaries.
  5. Good, Lord. She has never had a car payment or paid for her own car. She has got some serious growing up to do.
  6. Have you read The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lach? @@Inner Surfer Girl Thanks for reminding me about Henrietta Lacks. I had heard of it and meant to read it but it slipped my mind... I just finished it and it was truly a great read. Thanks again! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I am so glad to hear that you liked it. I think it is definitely a must-read, especially for people who like science but also for the social/cultural issues.
  7. I am so glad you are able to see this clearly. It is interesting to me how many of us accept someone else's bad behavior as acceptable or even deserved. Now, that you realize he doesn't get to use you as an excuse for his bad behavior you can really drop a lot of "weight". How much does he weigh by the way? Stay safe. If he is this controlling when you are compliant, he may show a much nastier side when you aren't. Take care of yourself first. There is a reason I am single.
  8. 500 calories is really low. You probably will experience slow weight loss until you can get your calories higher. You don't mention protein. Getting enough protein is critical for healing and weight loss. What is your protein target? How are you doing at reaching that target. My guess is that at 500 calories you aren't. That said, stalls and slow downs are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing a significant amount of weight. We all experience stalls and just about everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery. I highly recommend you: 1) let go of the idea of predicting your own weight loss and comparing it to other people, and 2) stay off the scale. You may want to weigh infrequently, especially early out. Just follow your program. Make sure you are getting at least 64 oz of Fluid a day. Reach or exceed your protein target every day. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise when cleared. Stay off the scale. And, Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall.
  9. You have been through the wringer. It sounds to me like this needs to be documented and that you need to escalate your concern so. Does the NHS have patient advocates? Who oversees the hospital said? Is there any kind of oversight? What you detail sounds like a train wreck of system, program, and individual failures. This is just not right.
  10. Premier ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrate GNC Lean 25 Syntrax nectar ProtiDiet tomato basil and creamy chicken Soup unjury Be sure and get samples before you invest in bulk quantities and keep in mind that your tastes may change.
  11. You can do it! Definitely stay hydrated and fill up on what you are allowed to have: decaf tea, sugar-free Popsicles, crystal light, etc.
  12. I was sleeved April 20, 2015 and it was my first surgery ever. I still have my tonsils. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, recovery, or progress so far. As to how long until you can schedule surgery, that is going to depend on your surgeon's requirements and how quickly you can get pre-op testing scheduled and the results of those tests.
  13. I like it. I prefer chocolate, but I like the vanilla and strawberry. I am curious about the new flavors. You can get 4-packs of premier st Walmart. I would definitely not invest in a case unless I knew I liked it.
  14. Congratulations! This is so awesome. You have done so well!
  15. Welcome! It is quite an adventure. Keep us posted on how you are doing.
  16. Yes. I won't say it was easy, but I have been able to reach or exceed my protein target of 100 grams a day, every day with about two exceptions since the day after I came home from surgery.
  17. I was sleeved in April of 2015, so I am over a year out. I have lost over 200 pounds from my highest weight and still have quite a ways to go. Fortunately, I have rarely experienced nausea or other issues related to eating. For me, drinking plain Water was the hardest thing to do post-op. I get my 100 grams of Protein by eating a lot of Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, turkey, Beans, chicken, fish, cheese, etc.
  18. I don't know. Some people have difficulty with eggs early out. I would hesitate to try something new like that in public. At 12 days I was still on full liquids. If they don't have soup can you at least get a glass of milk or tomato juice?
  19. I have a very bad knee. I have lost over 200 pounds so far and it is much easier to move, walk, and stand. I still do about 95% of my exercise in the water which is much easier in the joints. I am sure at least one knee replacement is in my future, but I couldn't even begin to imagine going through that and rehab 200 pounds ago.
  20. No pointers but I just wanted to say that I think this is awesome. I am a lap swimmer but have never learned to do flip turns. I was never on a swim team. I have already told the pro where I swim that I plan to sign up for some private lessons so she can teach me to flip turn when I am a little less buoyant.
  21. Personally, I would be cautious with pate. Pre-op, I loved liver cheese which has a fairly high fat content. Post-op, it has made me feel a little woozy.
  22. Seven weeks post-op is not an indication of what your life will be like after you have healed. You are still healing and recovering from major surgery. I HIGHLY recommend that you stay off the scale and only weigh at your doctor's appointments. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in ALL of your protein and fluids. For me that means at least 100 grams protein and 64 oz Fluid. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise when cleared. Stay off the scale. And, Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
