  1. I had a check-up with my PCP today. What is awesome is that I no longer dread getting on the scale and no longer get the "you need to lose weight" lecture. My PCP is thrilled with my progress!
  2. Maybe you are actually hungry. Are you getting in all of your Protein and fluids?
  3. It sounds like you are doing great. If you follow your surgeon's food phases then there really is no reason to expect to have issues. I think they are the exception and not the rule.
  4. I like the ziploc twist n lock or similar. Basically little bowls with twist on kids. They seem to be a bit sturdier than the snap on lids. You can also get small glass containers that are even sturdier.
  5. Here goes: Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  6. Colds and allergies are miserable no matter when you get them. Tylenol Cold Multisymptom is my friend. Knock on wood, but I haven't been sick very often since I was sleeved. Keeping up with your Vitamins is important.
  7. Since corn is a starchy vegetable, I don't eat a lot of it. I certainly didn't try it at 5 weeks post-op. If it's allowed on your program then I suggest just trying it to see how it goes.
  8. Track your food (I use MyFitnessPal) Read labels Avoid added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup) Avoid starches (bread, Pasta, rice, potatoes, corn, etc) I don't have a specific number target. If I do all of those things my carbs stay pretty low. I don't avoid good/complex carbs, though.
  9. Weight bearing exercise and cardio are both important. So is stretching. Don't forget your flexibility. Strength, endurance, flexibility, and aerobic capacity are all important for fitness. My exercise of choice is swimming. I can accomplish all of these things in the Water and it's easier on my joints.
  10. Also, to add: Quest chips are savory. Kay's Naturals has some savory choices. You may also want to check Protein Snacks by ProtiDiet, WonderSlim, etc.
  11. I just eat cheese if I want cheese flavor. I also like Mr. Cheese O's.
  12. My surgeon actually gave an I depth overview of everything: experience, process, how to avoid complications, etc., etc. He has done thousands of successful surgeries so he really was thorough. He offered much more information I would have even known to ask about.
  13. It will come. You just had major surgery and are healing. It's ok to nap and rest. Just make sure you are getting in all of your fluids and Protein and take your Vitamins and supplements as directed.
  14. Frankly, I didn't go to my first pre-op appointment with a lot of questions. I did a lot of listening and most of my questions came from that. If you don't understand something then ask for clarification until you understand clearly. Take notes. If you have made up your mind about a procedure before even talking to your surgeon, then be prepared to hear him out and ask questions if he has a different recommendation.
  15. I wasn't cleared for ground meats until later in my program. At 3 weeks I was on soft foods, so refried beans and melted cheese was ok. It was actually one if the first soft foods I ate.
  16. This is great to hear. Other than WLS, being diagnosed and treated for sleep apnea is one of the major things that changed my quality of life for the better.
  17. I have no idea how long it will take. Our bodies are complex systems and not simple machines. It will take as long as it takes. You have got to get in your protein and fluids. I highly recommend that you just stay off the scale.
  18. I am sure she is very experienced. But, keep in mind, she probably only sees folks with issues/complications more than those that don't. The bypass was much more common 15 years ago, too. So her numbers may be scewed.
  19. Personally, I would talk to your surgeon about what is right for YOU.
  20. You are most likely fine, just make sure you are getting enough Protein and fluids. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  21. My classes were conducted by my surgeon's office/NUT and not insurance. Have you met with your surgeon? They may have classes or one-on-one counseling. If you google bariatric center of excellence patient manual you should be able to find some helpful information.
