  1. I just made myself a cup of Peppermint "Tea" and am watching and old movie from TCM. If you are snowed in today, what are you doing for fun?
  2. I agree with the posters above. Walking, sipping, sugar free Popsicles, Jello, different temperatures of fluids, and a heating pad should all help. The sooner you can get in your fluids and Protein the sooner you will start to feel better.
  3. I don't cook so I buy pre made. If you read the labels there is a big difference in protein content.
  4. When did you have surgery? You shouldn't be lifting anything or engaging your abs until your incisions heal. After that moderate weight lifting should be ok.
  5. Back in my grandmother's day they were called girdles. Now, there are all kinds of variations.
  6. Here is a link to an article with high-Protein foods and their protein count. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/ultimate-list-40-high-protein-foods.html As an example: 1 large egg has 6 grams of protein. To get 100 grams of protein in one meal I would have to eat over a dozen eggs. Obviously, that does not work.
  7. There is no way I could eat 100 grams of protein in one meal. Who told you that? That is crazy!
  8. By the way, at only six weeks post-op, your priority should be protein and fluid/water. Getting 5 fruits and vegetables a day will have to wait until you are much farther out after surgery. You need the protein and water to heal and to lose weight.
  9. One meal of Protein is not enough. Our bodies can't digest more than 20-25 grams of protein at a time. That means for me I have to eat protein 4 plus times a day. You should have some protein at every meal and snack and eat the protein first. I would be curious to see what you were given for a post-op food plan.
  10. I sent you a message. I hope it helps. It looks like there is shape wear on sale today. I didn't look at the sizes.
  11. My surgeon's guidelines for Protein for women: If you started out with a BMI of under 50 then your target would be 80 grams. If you started out with a BMI of over 50 then it would be 100 grams.
  12. We are getting a big snow storm so I just filled up several water bottles and pitchers just in case.
  13. My doctor never mention how many grams should I be taking!!!even when I once showed him a protein powder just to see what he think of it..he said I don't think you need it your protein in your food in enough :/ so I don't know what the Idol grams for me >< I really should talk to him !!!!! when I first did the surgery I was feeling fine .. but this days I'm always dizzy, lazy and I have no energy What was your starting BMI?
  14. Zulily often has shape wear on sale on their site. Let me know if you are interested in a discount code and I can PM you one.
  15. My wellness center has all kinds of toys: noodles, kick boards, weights, etc. The Y I used to belong to did, too.
  16. Since it is 2-3 cups of vegetables then you would measure by volume.
  17. To go from completely sedentary to being able to pass this kind of physical in two months sounds really unrealistic to me. I could be wrong, but this sounds like something you at need to talk to a physical trainer about. A trainer can help you put together a plan but I just don't know if it would even be safe to do in two months. Best of luck. Whether you are ready in two months or not I wish you all the best. Don't stop following your dreams.
  18. Where is your protein? Porridge, vegetable soup, fruit, and biscuits all sound like carbs to me. A splash of milk and some nuts aren't going to have much protein. My protein target is 100 grams a day. Were you given a protein target? For me critical success factors are: Getting at least 100 grams of protein and 64 oz. of Fluid, every day. Taking my Vitamins and supplements as directed, every day. Avoiding most starches and added sugar. Exercising.
  19. Congratulations on taking a big step in the right direction for your health. I had to fill out a lot of forms pre-op so it sounds like what you have is pretty standard. My recommendation is that you be as honest and thorough as possible. If you don't have enough room to answer succinctly then I don't think it would hurt to continue your answer and attach it on another sheet of paper. Ultimately, this is for your benefit so you can have the safest surgery and recovery. You will also most likely have a psych evaluation appointment so you can also elaborate with specifics in person. Best of luck and keep us posted on how you are doing.
  20. I love cottage cheese. I like it with freshly ground black pepper and fresh tomato or even plain. Here is a thread with lots of cottage cheese ideas: http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/356614-What-can-I-do-with%2E%2E%2Ecottage-cheese%3F Personally, I eat the regular 4% but the 2% is pretty good, too.
  21. Off the top of my head that sounds about right.
  22. I am glad you are seeing your NUT. He or she would be the best person to help with your specific goals.
  23. I haven't but don't know why you couldn't ask. It also might be worth to just to buy a small chicken and use it to make chicken and broth both. I am sure the butcher can give you some ideas.
