Woo hoo!!! Today is my one year surgery-versary and I don't think I could be any happier! I am down 141 pounds total and around 106 or so from my surgery one year ago today. This has been one of the best decisions of my life and I would do it all over again tomorrow if I needed to. My surgery was such a success that my sister followed suit and had a sleeve done in November of this last year. She is doing great as well. It is REALLY STRANGE to me for someone to call me "skinny". I've had many people tell me that I've lost enough and really should stop losing but I am technically still obese and I refuse to stay obese! I still have a little ways to go and I know this is going to take more work to get off but it will be so worth it! To any newbies out there, work your sleeve and it will work for you. Do what you are supposed to and it will do what it is supposed to! The first picture here was sometime November or December 2012, the second one was about 2 weeks ago. It's the most recent that I have The second set of pics is just of me in that dress, cause I thought it was pretty flattering!! (I acatually got told that I have amazing calves when I was wearing my heels in this dress and I can say that was an absolute first!!)

My one year appt with my Dr isn't til October so I feel confident that I can get there by then! I've kindof fallen off the wagon lately, so as of Monday I'm back on Protein and veggies only! I am going to beat this 10 lbs FOR SURE :

After my second " why don't you try dieting and exercise one more time" speech, I changed my response. My inner smart ass came out. I thanked them for new insight that dieting and exercise would help me lose weight, since obviously I had NEVER tried it before. Not my finest moments, but what was said, was said. But I must add that this put a quick end to their zealous concerns.

Because of all the complications I have had because of my choice to have WLS. i have been sorta thrown into the lime light somewhat in my area. It is like a big closeted thing here. Don't let anyone know and don't ever talk about it. I can't find anyone in my area who even had WLS. How can you support each other when you are told not to even talk about it.. I have been sleeved. I did not break the law. I decided to get healthy the only way I could..As I tried it all their way before.....People are so unbelievably ignorant of the facts. They want to keep the funds in their pockets as well and keep society quiet about what is available for them. It bugs me to no end..
When I was sleeved the extra mural talked down to me because they had to look after me for a while. I won each and everyone of them over with my story and my progress. Not to mention my positive attitude despite the complications. My choices were limited and I am so glad I had it done for my health. Because it worked! Even with the complications The surgery did its part ! And I am doing mine....
I love my sleeve and am proud of myself for doing it..And proud of every one else who is considering it or have done it...The sky is the limit..Yours for the taking...And it feels awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't tell a ton of folks before I had it done. Close friends, family and a my work team. All were supportive, though many had questions as they were concerned for my safety. I handled it this way; if I cared about their opinion, I would work to educate them. If not, screw them if they're not on board with my plan to get healthy that I've been built with my PCP and surgeon for the last year.
Fast forward... I'm 9 months post op and I tell everyone who asks what my "secret" is. You never know who'd struggling and needs to hear your experience either for themselves or for a loved one. I've helped many folks toward a journey that may just save their life and had no negative comments so far. Or maybe I just don't remember since if they're not on my side in this, I DON'T CARE! :-) The best revenge is being fabulous. Mission Accomplished.

    Hi all!
I got my insurance approval today yeah!! My sleeve is now scheduled and it's for Tuesday 7/29!! I'm nervous and in disbelief!!! It just doesn't seem real. What type of pre-op liquid plan does everyone have and when does it start? Definitely looking for support!!
