  1. A couple of weeks ago I made it below 200 lbs also, first time in almost 20 yrs for me (I'm 50 yrs old). isn't it wonderful, this journey we're on.....I'm only 3.5 mons out. Can't imagine where I'll be at the 6 month mark or at a year. So much positive we all have to look forward to.

    Protein powder

Unflavored Isopure protein powder sprinkled on everything, especially stirred in my yogurt. No flavor and no grot, stir it in well and you won't even know it's there. Big help in increasing protein intake. ????

    July RNY Page

My RNY was on July 17th, had the three month checkup with dr and NUT yesterday and I'm flying high on Cloud 9. 46 lbs lost since surgery, 60 lbs overall. I haven't had dumping syndrome but follow NUT guidelines and haven't "cheated" and tried any sugary foods. I go to our local support group and get frustrated to see sleeves who are smoking again and bypassers who cheat all the time. I do not mind sticking to the rules and I do not mind taking lots of vitamins every day. I plan on this being a complete and total lifestyle change, not a temporary way to lose lots of weight. I'm 50, wish I had done this at 40, but this is my new life and I'm loving it!!!!

    SLOW LOSER

My surgery Ctr support group told me to count my blessings the weight is coming off slow and steady. Because with exercise and slow and steady weight loss, skin issues will be minimal. Yahoo!!

    Regrets? ?

I am also 3 months out, no regrets whatsoever. So much energy, weight loss, looking better, feeling great and gaining confidence. But I follow all the NUT directions, no sampling things I shouldn't ever eat again just to see how my pouch reacts and very strict with taking my vitamins every day too. At our surgery Ctr support group last night I was actually dismayed to hear how so many people are cheating on their food. My reasons for surgery are permanent life style change, not a quick way to lose weight. One lady in support group is 4 mons out and she's smoking again and had the sleeve. A big NoNo and could potentially be fatal, she's crazy.
  7. That's great, Amy. I'm 3 mons out from surgery and I've been to several restaurants, but really don't get much enjoyment out of eating out any more....
  8. I also continue with constipation issues 3 mons post surgery. Daily Dulcolax is my new best friend. Eating enough protein, doesn't mean we are getting enough fiber

    Losing inches not weight

Same issue with me and my surgery was in July, down 43 lbs but the inches are really coming off, down almost 3 clothing sizes. Weight is just a number, it can become obsessive, but the inches and looking and feeling better and more confident, now that's just fine by me!!
  10. I'm 3 mons out from RNY bypass and am eating "regular" foods. I eat Greek yogurt with unflavored whey Protein powder, cheese of all types, hummus, edamame, love all types of chili, peanut or cashew or almond butter, Special K protein Cereal of Cheerios protein cereal. 1 egg omelets with cheese and diced ham (1/2 omelet) and egg salad. No bread! Haven't tried rice or Pasta but NUT says they probably won't agree with me so I say why bother trying. And I'm not going to try any sugary sweets either. There are definitely foods I will never be able to eat again, but it's those foods that got me overweight to begin with.... Thrilled with the whole process, down 52 lbs and follow all instructions from dr and NUT. Wish I had done this 10 yrs before.
  11. Definitely Dannon Greek Light n Fit and then add scoop of unflavored whey protein and voila, 25 grams of proteins, low in sugar and low in calories ????

    daVinci robotic surgery anyone?

Mine was in July '14 and was DaVinvci robotic, 6 little 1" incisions (scars). Recovery is do much easier with robotic surgery ????
  13. I'm from MA. Bypass surgery in July. My surgery Ctr has a monthly support group. I'm surprised at the # of people that have sleeve surgery and had GERD problems before, and will be worse for them after. I can only surmise they may be smokers and therefore don't qualify for the bypass. I know my surgeon strongly suggests bypass for almost everyone, except smokers.

    Phantom Pain

I experienced the exact same pain that TSANGIA described. Lower right abdominal pulling, searing burning pain. I frequently put both hands over the spot when I walked up and down stairs. Felt like I needed an abdominal binder. NP mentioned adhesions and also inner incisions that hadn't dissolved yet. I'm just 7 weeks out and miraculously this pain disappeared around 5 weeks.
  15. My dr insists on 6 wks off work to rest, rest, rest and walk, walk, walk, and to get in liquids and 5 meals/snacks per day. I'm 4 wks out and if I am active for 6+ hrs, I need a nap to regroup. She's afraid peoples jobs are so busy, they will forget to eat and drink.

    Food taste

I am 4 wks out and getting about 50g of protein and plenty of fluids but only 400-450 calories per day. NUT doesn't want any more calories. I have no hunger and literally set an alarm to get in the 5 meals/snacks per day. NUT says 8 wks out and I'll progress to 800 calories per day. I'm glad I still have my taste buds though....just have no interest in food.

    First foods

I also do egg salad, 1 boiled egg with 1+ tsp of miracle whip light. I like re fried beans with salsa puréed. Lots of things we can be creative with. Haven't puréed any cooked veggies yet as most have little to no protein. Hate Cream of Wheat and cottage cheese.

    First foods

Just plastic Tupperware, add all ingredients, microwave for 30-45 seconds and stir. No need to purée as it's already smooth ????

    incision bulge

All of mine were swollen and I was also told the lumps and bumps would disappear after the internal stitches had dissolved. 4 wks out and they were right, incisions 90% healed.

    Moving to soft & moist

My NUT gave me recipe for 1/2 cup ricotta cheese, 2 tbsps of Ragu spaghetti sauce and sprinkle with shredded cheese. It's called Noodle-less lasagna and is super yummy. Makes 4 oz. about 10g of protein. I have puréed 2 small meatballs and added them and they were just fine. Also flavorless protein powder, sprinkled in everything adds good protein, even on egg salad. And my standby is Yoplait 100 Greek yogurt with 1/2 scoop of protein powder = 25g of protein.

    First foods

NUT gave me an awesome recipe for noodle less lasagna. Part skim ricotta cheese, ragu spaghetti sauce, low fat shredded mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese. 18g of protein in 1/2 cup serving. It's awesome and lots of protein. Remember to purée it. This has been my go to lately.

    The Chin.......

I'm exactly 3 wks out from RNY and 22 lbs down in this 3 wks. My weight loss started from my face, neck, and my double chin is gone. ????
