Goodlife1206 reacted to skinnygirlwithin in How do you feel about eating out after weight loss surgery?
    I pick “OTHER”
My first time eating out – I was really nervous – but nothing happen to me, I didn’t get sick – no one looked at me like I was crazy… so I got over it. Lol
I am 4 ½ months out, and for the most part I have avoided going out to eat – I have only been out a handful of times … I have found that I do not enjoy going out to “eat” as I did before surgery – I go more for the conversation & not the food… If I go out to eat – I try to get something that is high Protein low fat… like shrimp cocktail or an appetizer but I also don’t beat myself up if I get something crazy because I am only going to eat about 2 oz of it anyway, and more than likely my husband will eat the rest… if he doesnt eat it, i will have it for leftovers for days on end... HAHA...

I have had similar experiences to all of the posts. I was traveling over the holidays and didn't have a BM for over a week. I was having left side discomfort, which I thought was from the constipipation as that is where your descending colin lies. It took using Ducolax and suppositories followed by a full dose of milk of mag the following morning.
I still use a dose of Miralax each morning in my Protein smoothie and milk of mag about once a week or so. I also get some fruit and vegetables each day and make sure to get at least 64 oz of Water each day. It is easier to prevent than fix. As time goes on you can eat more foods with fiber and that should help.

Sorry about the TMI nature of this post, but I am away from home and don't know what to do next. I am 7 weeks out and starting to eat a regular diet. I have not had a BM for over a week. I have been taking a capful of Miralax each morning for 4 days, and last night took two suppositories and two Ducolax. Nothing! When I was on liquids and puréed foods I would have a small, but soft BM every couple days. I was trying to decide whether to take some milk of magnesia or do an enema. Any ideas?

Goodlife1206 got a reaction from Alfie in I'm Surprised at some people's weight and still get surgery
I was intrigued to see this topic, as I have been encountering this lately. I just received my surgery date of nov 6th. Several times I have had people say they are surprised that I am having WLS as they don't think I am "fat" enough. I am 5'4" and started at 230 or a BMI of 40. That is fat enough.
I have been on so many diets over the last 40 years I can't even remember them all. I have lost >50# several times. I do not have lots of co-morbidities at this point and want to get healthier before I start down that road. My feet hurt, I am short of breath, have high BP, and can't participate in exercise at my former level. I agreed with another post that first you are too fat and then you aren't fat enough! Go figure.

I go tomorrow for my psych appointment. I see myself in your comments about being crazy for taking this path. I regularly question my decision and why I don't just diet and eat better, exercise more etc. then I remind myself that if I could have lost and maintained in that way I would have done it in the last gazillion attempts in my past.
It is a big decision and I have made a lot of changes so far to make this a successful lifestyle, but that doesn't mean that you don't have apprehension.
