  1. Hi Kerry 5570, Glad you are feeling better. I enjoyed walking and still do to release the bloat. I still also enjoy my heating pad and gas-x thin strips. (I recently switched from chewables). To add a ticket, look to the top right of the screen where it says "Hello Kerry 5570" Click there and then click on you avatar the little person to the left. On the left hand side of the next screen look for tickers. Click tickers. Then click add tickers on the next page. It gives you some options for the weight and the little marker. Best Wishes
  2. I did it today! I keep wanting to walk my son to school in the mornings but I get home in time to get him dressed, fed, and off to school. We live about 1.3 miles from the school so with a 9 year old I would need 20-25 mins (you know they have to see everything still) so not enough time. I dropped him off this morning, pulled my car in the driveway and set out walking up the street. I only did a little over a mile but it felt really good!
  3. I like the Quest Bars (White chocolate Raspberry) and some of the Atkins stuff (The hazelnut snack bar). Atkins usually only come in at about 15 gm of protein while Quest comes in at about 20-22 gm of Protein. I prefer Quest Bars because they have lots of Fiber usually 15-19 grams. You will find on a high protein diet fiber is your friend. Best Wishes!
  4. Hello all! I was banded on July 29, 2014. I am at 6 cc's and have good restriction. I find that I am no longer hungry much. After years of emotional, boredom, and all the other reasons we shove food in our mouth eating I don't really know what to do with myself sometimes. I find it hard to know when I should be eating now. I don't want to wait until my tummy growls but I don't want to eat just because I "should be" at some specified time. I guess I am now working on my new normals. It's funny, I am literally building a whole other life. I thought it would be just dietary changes but my activities are changing. My thought process is changing. I actually think about doing thinks like half-marathons, walking my son to school, etc. I'm not doing everything I think about at this point due to my issues with working nights and trying to get enough sleep to be happy and healthy. In general life is good. I want to increase my loses some but it's a learning process. I've got a few new favorites, among them the infamous Quest Bars, baked colossal shrimp, and yes I still have a couple tbsp's of pie every now and then but apple pie Quest Bars are really turning into my go to when I want something like that. Wow this is all so new.
  5. Click "Hello Thinkingthinner1109" to the top right of your screen. Click "My profile" Click "Edit profile" to right Click "Display name" on the left from the list Best Wishes
  6. Thank you all for your feedback. I was asking this question for a friend of mine. She too has a band and became very ill. She wound up going to the ER and having her 6.25 ccs of Fluid completely removed. She is working her way back up but she is now feeling satiety at 5.5 instead of having to go back up the full 6.25. I was just wondering was she probably too tight or could she possibly be experiencing satiety at a lower level now days.
  7. Hello all! I tried really hard to find a little more information on the subject on my own but to no avail I didn't really find an answer. So I know that different altitudes caused by traveling (such as in planes), that time of the month, seasons, and the time of the day can all affect the tightness we feel in our bands. What I want to know has anyone experienced feeling restriction with fewer cc's at a later time?
  8. Hi there Greenebean13! Before getting the band back in July, I did a gob of research. I found a few interesting tidbits. One of those being that individuals with lower BMI's tend to loose weight a little slower. I'm still reading into it but to make a long story short we have to work a little harder it seems to attain faster weight loss I'm on the other hand you want your weight loss to be stead as well. I'm still working on exercise. I need to increase my activity from 45 mins to about 1.5 hours at least 4 times a week. I'm just having a hard time fitting it in right now. Have you added any activity yet?
  9. Terribly sorry your having a rough time. I too think it sounds more like a virus. I had .5 too much in the office and went to drink and couldn't get it down. The practitioner removed some and I was good to go. Feel better soon.
  10. Don't let one surgeon stop your show girl. I had a bmi of 35 when I started. My surgeon prefers to band lower bmi's. He feels it easier to level their weightloss and just as effective. Banding from everything I've researched hasn't lost its ground.
  11. It's so great to hear from you guys. I am down 12 pounds I trying to work up the courage to walk and pick my son up from school instead of drive. That gives me 2 mile a day in addition to my walk in the evening. Wish me luck. I want this weight off!
  12. Hello everyone. It's been a little over six weeks since I was banded. I am finally in the green zone with 6 cc in my band. I works nights as many of you have heard me say and it has been interesting. I am trying new foods and hating others. I am preparing to amp up my walk....to a jog that is and am down 12 lbs. That of course didn't come without me first gaining 5 lbs after surgery. Life for the most part is great. I am still learning what my new norms are and enjoying life. How is it going for the rest of you. Any new things, non-scale victories, new foods. What's going on with you?
  13. I can deal with the gurgle. I can even deal with the toots it just the toots that get stuck. Oh how miserable that makes me. It usually only happens when I am at work and eat too much or too fast...
  14. The first few days of the liquid diet can be a little rough. Your body is still used to having all the stuff you typically eat. It's kinda like detox if you will. Your body is going into carb/caffeine/waste withdrawals. Usually day 4-5 on are easier. It still sucks a little but you find that you have a little more energy. Either way make sure you follow up with your primary care physician or surgery staff. Best of Luck!
  15. Hi there and congrats! I think I am a YouTube junkie but this was one of the vlogs I watched. She made it all the way through her pregnancy and she is banded. https://www.youtube.com/user/xxxandieapplesxxx/videos
  16. You might look into Biotin. They sell it at Walmart and grocery stores.
  17. I have worked nights a good part of my son's existence so he is very in tune with me most of the time. I usually gathered things that I know that he liked so they were in the same room with us. Call me a bad mom but I put little snacks like apples that were already cut up, his juice cups and such at the bottom of the fridge so with instruction he could go and get them. I talk very plainly to my son so he understands that we have to work together and I don't know it just works. So I guess gathering stuff you and he use, prepping snack or other food, coloring supplies, and napping together when need....I hope that helps some.
  18. Thanks Sengelken. I had prepared myself for a lot of things like chewing, listening to my body, making good food choices, etc but, returning to my shift on nights and managing everything seems to have been the most challenging. I will definitely look for the Quest bars and the tip about looking for diabetic friendly places is genius.
  19. Has anyone experienced more gas build up towards the end of the day? I tend to start my day fine. By the end of the day sometimes, not always my abdomen is just bubbling with gas. I'm 5 weeks out and walk except during my shift at work. I can only get 5 or so minutes off the phone a couple times a night other than lunch. I get relief at bedtime by walking and rubbing my abdomen. l just wondered if anyone else has this experience occasionally. It's not painful at this point just uncomfortable. My abdomen extends and it just sits trapped for a little some hours until it passes or I go to bed....
  20. Morning everyone. I've been pretty frusterated over the past 2 weeks or so after returning to work. I am having a hard time planning meals and with hunger in general. My body is just really throwing a tantrum about being back on nights. I gained 4 pounds over the last 2 week. I am actually ok with that though. I recently began tolerating firmer mushies and solids a lot better so that makes me smile. I've been pretty fatigued over the past few weeks. I take my vitamins and get in my protein. I'm only walking about 45 mins a day about 4-5 times a week at the moment. I just wonder how some of you other graveyarders make it through the day and night.
  21. I watched a YouTube demo about this stuff. It seems to mix well with just about anything. The actual taste and consistency are still a mystery to me though. Where did you order yours from CarmenLeAn?
  22. Every Dr. is different. I stayed on the liquids a little longer because I found that I was having a very hard time tolerating mushies. When I went to mushies I found that like most people I enjoyed a shake in the morning as apposed to trying to swallow much else. That was fine with my Dr but my aunt who had surgery over 3 years ago was told that was a no no. I know it doesn't help much #just my experience
  23. When I lost weight a few years back, I had the same thing happen. I saw my Dr. and he informed me it was due mal-nourishment, mainly the lack of protein. I would check with your Dr but you may need to step up your protein. By the way are you taking vitamins?
