If you are spitting up every time you eat, you definitely need to be in touch with your surgeon. You might need better anti-nausea drugs, or more guidance on what/how to eat, or to be checked for a complication such as a stricture -- but in any event, someone who is a medical professional needs to be taking care of you, not internet strangers!
I guess I am assuming you haven't been in touch with your surgeon about this -- if you have and you haven't been helped, honestly I would try my PCP or even another surgeon for guidance.

i will be signing off soon and I promise I will log on as soon as I can with a new thread to update my experience.
    thanks again!

Because of all the complications I have had because of my choice to have WLS. i have been sorta thrown into the lime light somewhat in my area. It is like a big closeted thing here. Don't let anyone know and don't ever talk about it. I can't find anyone in my area who even had WLS. How can you support each other when you are told not to even talk about it.. I have been sleeved. I did not break the law. I decided to get healthy the only way I could..As I tried it all their way before.....People are so unbelievably ignorant of the facts. They want to keep the funds in their pockets as well and keep society quiet about what is available for them. It bugs me to no end..
When I was sleeved the extra mural talked down to me because they had to look after me for a while. I won each and everyone of them over with my story and my progress. Not to mention my positive attitude despite the complications. My choices were limited and I am so glad I had it done for my health. Because it worked! Even with the complications The surgery did its part ! And I am doing mine....
I love my sleeve and am proud of myself for doing it..And proud of every one else who is considering it or have done it...The sky is the limit..Yours for the taking...And it feels awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think judgey might be my new favorite word My parents are on this weird diet where they eat only apples for a day and then something else the next while drinking alkaline Water - they have been losing weight and don't understand why I won't do their diet instead of getting the surgery! It gives me nightmares of the grapefruit diet all over again :$

No one has ever said that to me. If they ever did, while my head would be screaming GFYS, my mouth would be repeating, "This is a decision my doctor and I made together. Surgery is a tool to help me improve my health, so I CAN be active again." Which I very much AM now that the weight is off. Exercise was not a part of my life before because it was too painful, but about the time I'd lost 30-or 40 pounds, I turned a corner and was able to establish a healthy exercise habit.
I do not hide the truth that I've had surgery. You never know who needs to see the example that you have become. The person you are talking to or someone they love may need the information to save their life. And if they're not on my side in this, I really don't value their opinion anyway.

So there are TWO definitions of the word PRIVACY. If you see it’s been around since 1400-1450. That’s at least 614 years. So privacy is NOT a new idea, but seems to have been lost in this day of complete blatant publicity with FB posts about every minute details of one’s life posted for the world to see and the supposed ‘reality’ shows to entertain us.
    pri·va·cy/ˈpraɪvəsi; British also ˈprɪvəsi/ noun, plural pri·va·cies.
    1. the state of being private; retirement or seclusion.
    2. the state of being free from intrusion or disturbance in one's private life or affairs: the right to privacy;
    3. secrecy.
    4. Archaic. a private place.
    Origin:
1400–50; late Middle English privace. See private, -acy
    privacy (ˈpraɪvəsɪ, ˈprɪvəsɪ) — n
    1. the condition of being private or withdrawn; seclusion
    2. the condition of being secret; secrecy
    3. philosophy the condition of being necessarily restricted to a single person
It is not LYING to exclude information from your PRIVATE life. Because someone asks a question does NOT mean you have to articulate every detail of your life. You are ALLOWED to keep information about your life, finances, family, thoughts, YOUR HEALTH and DIET to yourself.
I simply don't understand why people feel bad about keeping things to themselves. It’s an innate right to do so. We have the freedom of speech which means people can ask you anything they want. But with the freedom of speech also means you have the freedom to say nothing!!
I’ve also seen people suggesting that if you discuss the surgery afterwards you will appear to be dishonest with people. This is a HUGE life change for us that we are undertaking. You are ALLOWED the space and time to adjust to it without anyone’s advice, horror stories or often uneducated opinions about the surgery. If later once you feel comfortable and want to discuss it, do so. If someone thinks badly about you for taking the time, so be it. They probably don't deserve to be in your life if they cannot show some understanding and compassion.
OTOH, if you are screaming from the rooftops about the surgery…. AWESOME!! I am not suggesting either way is right or wrong. The only thing I am suggestion is that you do what is good for you and not allow guilt to force you to discuss something you aren’t ready to talk about.

I just tell them that Ive tried all the diets out there more than once and I do exercise, but Ive done my research and I am happy with my choice to get the sleeve. I am doing what is going to help me get healthy again! They usually hush up and don't bother me again with a statement like that! I don't hide the fact that Im getting bariatric surgery at all. Im proud and loud about it! LOL

    Dear Friends,
We'll I lost 10 pounds sine my last nutrition appt and I even got my period today so I was so jazzed! FUNNY THING I thought when she gave me the goal of 254 that I had to lose the weight by the next nutrition appt and my first was on June 3rd. When she weighed me she said WOW you are 4 pounds away from your surgery goal weight! WAIT WHAT? I have been working out, eating healthy, did a detox and following all the steps I have been given.
I made the decision to have the sleeve surgery! I am so excited! I have BCBS and if I get the approval in time the Doctors nurse is checking to see if I can get surgery in July! I want
I LOVE ALL OF YOU... Much Love, Cindy

Actually when I told my husband that I was looking into getting the surgery that was his first response.. Have you actually tired dieting? What about exercising? I was like seriously you just asked me this?? Of course I've tried everything!! You just don't realize it (we were living apart for a little over a year). It's not like our first reaction is. Oh, darn it. I've gained weight. I best get my stomach cut out. Ugh. People are so judgey sometimes!

it irks me when people think we are 'jumping into' WLS. it's not exactly a decision you make on a Monday and surgery that Friday. this is a LONG process, many months for most.
it also revolves around a food ADDICTION. i once retorted back to a colleague who questioned me the same way "would you discourage an alcoholic from going to AA"? and dropped it.
another poster said it best, people are terribly misinformed.
rest assured in the decision you made for yourself is best and keep your eye on the prize. good luck!

Hi everyone!! I just wanted to introduce myself that way I'm not a complete lurker/creeper! I just had my consult with my surgeon today. At first I was going for the lap band but after speaking with the surgeon I decided that this is the best way for me to go! I hope to find out more about my benefits tomorrow! I had my psych eval today and was cleared from him.. one hoop down many to go!
Here's to meeting new people that are going through the same journey!

I feel you. I just get stabby when I read posts where I perceive husbands/wives/partners are trying to control medical decisions being made by their other half. I get my back up really fast when I think something like that is going on and I tend to spring to the defense of the injured party.
The money aspect is a big issue. Even with our medical insurance and we have good insurance, we had to lay out a couple of grand, out of pocket, when it was all said and done. We don't have co-pays or any of that racket but we do pay a percentage on the back end, just like any insurance and when the dust cleared and everything was paid by our insurance, it was our turn to pay our share. Between True Results, my surgeon, the surgical center, the anesthesiologist... Still it was worth it. And, my husband is a good negotiator and he was able to call and talk a few of the bigger bills down a few clams so we ended paying out less out of pocket than we otherwise would have. Also, when the bigger bills rolled in, we called and asked for a little time to pull the money together, which they were happy to do.
We aren't wealthy people. Financially responsible but not wealthy. My surgery and the bills that came with it were a big concern for us and it took some wrangling and number crunching and making calls and negotiating to make it happen and make it work. But, my husband knew how huge this was for me, he knew that this would help me regain my life, my health and he was determined to help me make it happen and he has worked just as hard in his way as I have, in mine, to bring it all about and I am so grateful to him, every day.

@2muchfun. When food is stuck in the esophagus, it has to come up or we can aspirate and get pneumonia. It's not being vomited up from the stomach, but being regurgitated before getting to the stomach, so stomach acid isn't an issue. You're correct in saying the op needs me fiscal help, but from her surgeon...

Honey, I am so sorry you're having this issue. I believe if you are not compulsively making yourself vomit, then that is not bulimia. However, I hope for your health you talk to a therapist about your feelings. I had a very similar convo with my therapist (who specializes in disordered eating, among other things) and it made me feel SO MUCH better when I was "spittin up" all the time.
As far as the black stuff, I think you should call your doctor immediately. Also, are you eating slowly and keeping your portions small? the only time I involuntarily toss my "cookies" is when I eat too much too fast.
