What do you do to satisfy your "head hunger"?
I try to distract myself. If that doesn't work, I drink water. If that doesn't work, I figure I better have a little of it. Otherwise, I'll do some other crazy thing like eat way too much the next time I eat or something...I'm weird. Cindy

Numb?
They don't even bother with the numbing...and it's okay! I was really nervous beforehand, but I swear...she was in and done before I could say, "Ready or not!" I know there have been some other bad experiences reported, but mine was easy peasy, both times!

How much can you consume after surgery?
If I remember correctly, I put my protein drink in a bottle marked with oz's and a lid on it. I remember being able to drink either 2 or 4 oz at a time right a first. It really doesn't matter, though; listen to your own body, and learn how to "read" it. We're all a little different.

Anne, that is TOO funny! You HAVE uncovered the secret plot...make a note of what to buy for next Christmas...you SIL will know immediately that you're on to her evil scheme! LOL! I like your goal of being in "onederland" by April. Dare I even hope for that? I"ll be watching you, though! Beanie - I guess the first of the year is a big rat race for you! Take time for yourself, okay? Pat - I like your idea about the clothing...but I will also be more than happy to talk with you about selling clothes on Ebay. There's more than one approach; you can decide what sounds right for you and what you're selling. Eileen, hope you have lots of sunshine! Sherry, We're sorta over the playdough stage in my house, now it's electronics and still Barbies (that girl is high maintenance...have you seen her shoe closet?!) Gotta go, it's lunch time, and I'm on a strict schedule! Remember those days? Hugs, Cindy

January's Chat
Hi, everyone! Well, the kids are back, and I think I"m getting dizzy handling all these things at once. It's like always, but I'm not used to juggling quite so fast, since we've been on vacation...I'll soon get my "sea legs" under me! Love seeing the kids again! Well, most of them.... Eileen, I have been telling the kids that I plan to retire in Dec. 2006. In their heads, a year , a loooooooonnnnnnnggggg time from now, so they are not sure it will affect them. Some of the kids I've had for a long time (2-3 years), are trying hard to graduate before this date! I make 'em feel bad by saying, "You're gonna be here after I retire!" Hey, it works. Pat, you ARE evil ( in the same way I am, LOL!)! Playdough is a pain! Something I used to do for my nephew, is give him things like electronic drums, and other noisy items...all in love, of course! I know you understand me, girl! Betty, no prob about the cookies...I TOTALLY understand! I"m trying to avoid them myself! Curiously, stuff like that does not hold the appeal it once did...don't know why, but I'm glad about it! To all, I love keeping up with you, even though I don't always address everyone by name! Beanie, thanks for posting, we miss you! Back to work, Cindy

What has your weight Loss done for you!
Weight loss, even the relatively small amount I have lost so far, has dramatically changed my view on how I take care of myself...I do a much better job of taking care of me. That leads to more confidance, and some have told me I am more outspoken (as if that is even possible!) I think they mean that I am less likely to accept bad behavior toward me...I've always been out spoken. I'd say that sums up all the little changes into one big nutshell! Thanks for asking, John, and blessings to you! Cindy

Welcome Doc, we just kinda hang out here and visit...congrats on your upcoming surgery! We'll gladly fill in the details for you on anything you want to know, and you can learn stuff now by using the Search feature across the top, underneath the banner. Hang out with us anytime! Yes, I oversee the selling of DD's Girl Scout cookies...I will be happy to mail them to anyone who is brave enough to have them nearby! YOu can PM me, and I will work with you from there. Do not feel obligated to order; I certainly understand the pitfalls of Girl Scout cookies! So, Anne and Betty, I'll just put the ball on your side of the court. Betty, I might even be tempted to meet you somewhere to deliver them! Now, honestly, I must get myself to the bed! Hugs to all, Cindy

January's Chat
Hi, everyone! It's late in CindyWorld, and I don't have time to go on and on (do I hear cheers of joy?) LOL! I am sitting at the table assisting DD with her homework, picture me as a lion tamer with a whip, going "Sit! Sit!" LOL! (No animals were harmed in crafting this description). We just had meetings all day...long, frustrating meetings. But in the afternoon, I had about an hour of time to do stuff before the kids return tomorrow. Then, picked up DD, went to eat, and took her back to school for Girl Scouts. It's time to sell cookies! Yea! Pat, I was just kidding you about having to put up Texas Santa...I knew you liked the guy, and didn't mind him hanging out with you a little while longer! Sometimes my sarcastic wit just doesn't translate well into email language. I'll keep trying, though, because I can barely talk without being sarcastic...LOL! For the uncomfortable bike seat problem, can you find a sheepskin cover for the seat? Once upon a time, I had an exercise bike, and used it! I got a sheepsking cover, and it did help, but doesn't completely take the pressure off. Maybe you can use the bike as a clothes hook? That's what I did. LOL! I guess I'm in a kidding-around mood tonight, or maybe it's because the car door slammed on my head before the Girl Scout meeting? If I'm lucky, I"ll sleep well tonight. Glad to hear most of you are staying away from and slaying the holiday sugar dragon...I did have a couple of those tiny Hersey Dark Chocolate bars, but it was necessary to survive the meeting. Good night, everyone stay strong! Cindy

I'm giving up daily protein shakes!
Get a measuring tape! Also, have you thought about taking pictures of yourself (front, side and back) once a month? I have been doing that since my surgery, and you can really see differences that the scale doesn't measure. Apparently, you can hold a lot weight on your back and neck. I could actually see the difference in a photograph. I sure understand the frustration of the stuck scale...making the little change of dropping the protein shake could be just what you need to do! Hope it works for you! Cindy

Betty, I bet you posted during the time there was trouble on LBT...I know you are not so tired you would just repeat yourself 3 times! LOL! I tried to post this afternoon, and couldn't, so I bet there's a thread somewhere that has multiple postings from me, too! Pat, leave it to me to make you go the extra mile to put Texas Santa away! Sorry about that....and rain! We need that rain here, before more of Texas and Oklahoma catch fire. Anne, take care of your back. I'm sorry you have that particular problem; it's so THERE. Not much you can do, either...the surgery isn't very reliable. Yes, I can actually retire after the first semester next school year, so end of December 2006. That's my plan. That will make my 29th year of teaching, I'll be 51, and the magic number is 80. Age + years of service= 80. The state legislators, in their infinite wisdom, have changed that to 90 for those poor new teachers...they think closer to 40 years in the classroom should be about right to retire...let me tell you, that's a long time in today's educational system. Still, I will miss my contact with the kids, but I'll find them somewhere...I'll sub, work with youth at church or something. It's in my blood, and working with at-risk kids is my passion (career-wise). We go back to school tomorrow, all three of us! I hate to see our time off end, and on the other hand, I am glad to get back to routine. Goodnight, Cindy

Sherry, I'm so sorry to hear of your disappointment...I know it is so hard to understand how a mom can take a good son for granted, but I know it happens. Maybe later he can talk to her and ask her what she is thinking...is there any cognitive difficulties that you have noticed about her? Does she say anything about it? I know it is tempting to be stingy, but sometimes you just have to do the right thing. Sometimes that is pointing out to the other brothers (I think your DH should do it, not you) that they need to put in there TLC time, too. That way, he can get a break, and you MIL will have the joy of all her sons' company. Win, win. Always look for the win,win situation. Sometimes, however, sacrifice is an obligation. If that is your situation, try to bear it with dignity. You'll feel better about it in the end. (Hugs) Time wil help heal your hurt feelings. I'm sure he feels very lucky to have such a caring and loving wife who appreciates his good qualities. Glad you got it off your chest. You are doing the right thing. Another hug, Cindy

Plastic Surgery Poll
I doubt it, but I've also learned to never say never. After all, I am already doing many things I said I'd never do (not that they are bad, but at one point in my life I thought I'd never do them.) I think plastic surgery could fall into that category. I'm not trying for bikini's and crop tops. Just "normal". I'm 50 for goodness sake! Ya'll can feel free to rub this in when I post that I have scheduled plastic surgery! LOL! Cindy

Have my date and cold feet
You've done your research, and soul searching, and made a healthy decision. You have to let go of one side of the pool to get to the other side. You are nervous, of course. But getting to the other side is worth it, and you must know that or you wouldn't have done all you have to get a surgery date. Accept your nervousness, and trust your decision. We will be here to hold your hand, advise you, and encourage you. All you have to do is reach out, and be willing to learn. You will do great! hang in there! Cindy

Dull ache in pouch!
I just found this post, and noticed no one replied, so thought I'd give it a try...i really don't know what might be causing these pains...I am very aware of my port area, and if I drink/eat too much at one time, I feel it as pressure; maybe you feel it as pain? If it continues to bother you, I would check with your doctor, no matter how inconvenient it seems. Problems are more inconvenient. Hope you are doing better! Cindy
