70 Stubborn Pounds
My doc says statistically I will lose 72 pounds (even though I think I need to lose 93) but if I lose 72 I will be happy as a friggin clown! I also noticed there is someone on here banded to lose 40 pounds and I thought that was weird for a second and then I quickly realized that 40 pounds is alot of stress on your body too. When you realize what 70 pounds, or 93 pounds, or even 40 pounds of fat looks like and what it can do to your body there's no question that it needs to go.

Any Band-Over-Bypass people here?
Alatina - why is it that you are not liking your band?

I cant stop cheating!!!!
My doc says liquids for one week, mushies for two, and then solids slowly incorperated. I think you will be ok if you eat mushies like eggs or mashed potatoes but I'd give up the rice. Good luck!

Dr. Barker patients - what do you think?

not much weight loss
I am SO not trying to judge or anything and I am proud of anyone who can lose ONE pound b/c I sure as heck can't - I just wanted to know what ya'll thought about why the weight loss varies from person to person and if it was b/c you didn't get fills or you didn't exersize or what. I am not judging and I am going to get a band - I just feel like this is a place where I can express my concerns and I am not trying to rain on a parade - I just had a legitimate concern and I thank you guy for embracing me and that concern.

not much weight loss
I started really looking at everyone's weight loss stats last night and I realized there are more than a few people who have been banded for 4-6 months and lost 15-20 pounds. I realize that itself is a great achievement (I am so not trying to minimize that) but I have to ask myself if that is worth the thousands of dollars I'm going to shell out since I am self-pay. I mean if the band is designed to lose 2 pounds per week or whatever then 14-20 lbs in 4-6 months is HALF of that. Can anyone who has not lost much tell me if it's b/c you didn't get a fill or are you doing all the "right" things and following the "band" rules and still not losing? Thanks.

Dr. Barker patients - what do you think?
DallasDoll - I know you loved him and that's why I wanted to see what you thought and if this experience was "typical" or not. I probably will have the surgery thru him b/c I simply cannot afford the doc I liked best. But I am concerned that you have had the band since April and only lost 15 pounds - I mean it's great you're losing but for 13k I expect alot more weight loss then 15 pounds in 5 months. Do you think you need more fills or what? I am not trying to pick at you and believe me I COULD NEVER lose 15 pounds no matter what if I was trying on my own, but it does concern me, so it wold be very helpful to me if you could kind of take me thru your experience so far. You can private msg me or post on here. Thanks so much.

Dr. Barker patients - what do you think?
Hey guys. I am still trying to decide on a doc. Dr. Barker is obviously much cheaper but I had an awful experience at his office yesterday. I had a 1 pm appt and I waited 3 1/2 hours!!!!!! to see him. They knew I was pissed and gave me the run around. They scheduled me w/ the insurance guy when I told them on the phone 50 times my insurance won't pay and I wanted to meet the doctor. Anyways, I liked the doctor but the office was a MESS - the waiting, crowds, ants crawling on the wall, etc. I just don't know if I can put my life in the hands of someone whose business is SO out of control. WHat do ya'll think?

Psycho eval today!!!
Ok, I had the phsycho eval and you all (like my husband) must be wondering how I can type with the straight jacket on! Well, it was simple. The lady in my honest opinion needs physco care herself! She was sweet though. She had me take a t/f test with som ?'s thrown in to make sure you were really reading it - like "My face has been on the ocver of several magazines this month." True or false. Then I filled out some paper work about my diet and exersize routine. She asked me a few ?'s like what I do, how's my marriage, etc. but nothing I thought was abnormal. She said all of her bandster patients are doing great! I can't wait to be one too!!!!!

s T R E C H I N G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't have a band yet but from what I've read on here - most people think they are eating too much until they get thier 1st fill. Also, my doctor said the not drinking while you eat thing was solely to help you lose weight b/c drinking while eating pushes the food thru faster and therefore you don't get/stay as full.

Psycho eval today!!!
I have my psycho eval today. I will let everyone know how it went and what they did since so many people (including myself) are always asking what the do. I'm exited to be one step closer to my band! NSV most looking forward too today - getting out of the shower and being able to wrap a NORMAL size towel around my body without one boob and 1/2 my tummy hanging out!

PICTURES just for fun!
Ok, everyone loves pics, right!!! So, I thought we should start a new place for everyone to post pics just for fun. I love the before and after pics, but it's also nice to see pics of people in there everyday lives and what not. You guys have all been such an inspiration to me and a true support network! Here's a glimpse into my life outside the band and I'd love to see you guys' just for fun pics too! Here's me and my DH, our dogs (the furry kids), our cat (who is patiently waiting for them to invent a "kitty band", and my #1 hobby - my pond! <img src=http://us.f3.yahoofs.com/users/42fe431ez8e52e218/36ea/__sr_/545f.jpg?phNfk_CBTKbo2bRr> <img src=http://us.f3.yahoofs.com/users/42fe431ez8e52e218/36ea/__sr_/854a.jpg?phlok_CBRVMCRW2y> <img src=http://us.f3.yahoofs.com/users/42fe431ez8e52e218/36ea/__sr_/f6e3.jpg?phlok_CBTvvdA89Y> <img src=http://us.f3.yahoofs.com/users/42fe431ez8e52e218/36ea/__sr_/95a1.jpg?phlok_CBlC42e8hf> <img src=http://us.f3.yahoofs.com/users/42fe431ez8e52e218/36ea/__sr_/dd8e.jpg?phlok_CBntWGODiZ> <img src=http://us.f3.yahoofs.com/users/42fe431ez8e52e218/36ea/__sr_/25c4.jpg?phlok_CBS_mG6e7J> yeah, gained about 20 lbs since the wedding 2 yrs ago! BCBS Denied
I have BCBS of TX and they cover NO WL surgery No matter what! I got financing thru advanced patient financing (google them). Don't be upset - I know it's expensive but I am willing to drive a less fancy car, eat out less, etc. to make up for it.

How to deal with non-supportive people?
I wish I could find the thread I posted a few months back when I sounded just like you! My answer is simply just "screw em." I went thru it to and felt really sad and now I could care less! It's my body and I'm doing what I want with it! My hubby was concerned that it was a way out too but now he seems to realize that I NEED a way out of this fat, unhealthy body! There are HUNDREDS of people on this website alone that think a band is the "right way" to lose weight! I am one of them and I am SO over critizism and I'm SO ready to start losing weight! Blow off the negative people and jump on the bandwagon with me and all the others who KNOW exactly how you feel - something your dad and hubby will probably NEVER understand. Give up on wishing he would understand and just tell him you don't expect him to understand or approve but as your husband you expect him to support no matter what and if he can't do that he ain't worth it!
