Australian Bandsters Chat Thread
Good luck Jude. I have my appointment with the nurse on Tuesday and if she thinks I need a fill, my dr will be there to give it to me. I must say I've noticed that I am getting a little hungry between meals in the last couple of days, so it may be on the cards. Then again I have not started on solids yet, so maybe they'll get me started on the solids and then check the fill situation out after that.

Rants and Raves become NOT for newbies
I guess so... I still maintain that what I read when I was steered to the RnR section did not sit well with me but I was not ready to make enemies over it. I think we all need to be on this board, for whatever reason, so no point in making it an unpleasant experience. My addiction for food needs another outlet and this is one of them for me right now. I belong to other boards and I play computer games when I'm not out with friends or working but this board is about what is happening to me right now so this is where I'm spending most of my computer time at the moment. So let's just "feel the love" and get on with it !!

Surgery on Monday Nov 19
I was fine. Could drink much at first but never felt dry. Glad to hear that it all went well. Keep us posted.

So absolutely disapointed
Fingers crossed that your results come back fine tomorrow. As some of the others said, better to get it sorted and then be ready for the op, even if it's a little further down the track. I hope it's nothing serious... my prayers and thoughts are with you.

Sorry to hear that Tish. I would have freaked if I was told they couldn't go ahead. When are they going to let you know?

Intro...being banded tomorrow 11/21
Good luck with your surgery. I was in hospital for 2 days after my op. Was sore for a few days but nothing I couldn't manage by myself if I had to. I'm sure you'll be fine without hubby there but I would make sure I had someone I could call on just in case. Good luck with yours as well Candy.

Gaining Weight on Mushies? =(
I was banded a few days before you and my appetite still hasn't come back... doesn't take much for me to feel full... I've lost 19 lbs since my op so I hope it stays that way. :whoo:

Two week anniversary tomorrow
Congratulations Phil. I was banded 3 weeks ago and I am on mushies (will be for another few days). I am yet to test my band with solid food but so far all has been great. The only times I threw up were the first 2 days in the hospital when I couldn't keep down some of my meds. I went to dinner for the first time last night but couldn't see anything on the menu to eat so ended up eating mashed potatoes and a skim hot chocolate later in the night... I guess it will be easier when I'm on solids... more to choose from. What part of the middle east are you in?

Gaining Weight on Mushies? =(
I've been on mushies for 8 days and have lost just over 3 kilos (6.6 lbs) in that time. I have been sticking to what the dietician told me and it seems to be working. How much are you eating in one day?

What is it with the superior 'oldies'!!
I don't have anything against anyone on this board, old or new... haven't been here long enough. Besides I have been too busy losing weight!! :whoo::whoo: I got caught up in all the carry on about the November Nymphs (especially since it was brought in from RnR into our thread)... I couldn't help being defensive since it was me who suggested the name and I couldn't understand why us in particular since many groups had given themselves a name, eg, shrinking violets, tenacious tens. I am a nymph, now in my heart and no doubt further down the track my body will catch up. I feel that people some get pleasure out of making fun of others and then don't understand why people can get upset... this happens on boards and in real life and the one thing I've learnt is that while someone's putting someone else down, they don't have to deal with their own inadeqacies. For the record, I am not having a go at anyone in particular... I can't even remember who said what, it was the general tone that made me want to respond to what was going on. Good luck to all of you, you've achieved so much and I got a lot of benefit from reading your posts prior to my op. :clap2::clap2::clap2:

Rants and Raves become NOT for newbies
Everyone should have the right to any section of the board, new or old. When people aren't bitching about other board members (which got a little out of control), they are generally debating life issues and I for one am happy to read those posts and if the urge hits me to post as well.

Don't look at me!!!!
Many people who have eating disorders or addictive behaviour generally have been abused in some way in their life. I was also molested when I was about 10 or 11yo. It was a one off incident but I know it affected my life. I have similar issues about being too attractive. I also lost 2 siblings growing up (that was just the tip of the iceberg)... no wonder I found food such a comfort.

Let the compliments begin!!
I have lost 8.7 kilos (19 lbs) so far and people are noticing for sure. I'm happy but at the same time this is weight I put on in the last year, I have another 6 kilos to lose before I'm back at the weight I was when I started my job 2 years ago. Anything after that is going to be a bonus!! :clap2: :clap2:

Just banded on Friday!
Congratulations to all the new banders... almost 3 weeks down the track and feeling great! Hope you enjoy the journey.

Keeping secrets
I have told all my family, some relatives, most of my friends and heaps of people at work. I wasn't too worried about people knowing but must say, I'm already a little sick of everyone wanting to know how I'm going. I should have kept it more of a secret at work because I feel I'm being watched there... in a nice way but still too much some days.

Pre-fill instructions
Thanks for this, makes a lot of sense.

Don't look at me!!!!
I've always been confident, fat or not (I've been 20 kilos lighter in the past). I'm a great dancer so have always attracted positive attention. My mum (God bless her soul) always said that if I was slim I'd walk the streets naked because of my confidence. Oh well, she's wrong because that aint going to happen!! Over the years I've had many friends say that I wouldn't be the same if I was slim and others have said they don't see me as fat. Weird isn't it? Bottom line is I'm confident but have many issues which led to the weight in the first place.

NEw to the group looking for advide HELP
Your history helps people know where you're coming from so it's good that you've shared with us. I say do it... I wish I had done it when I was younger. I know a 23yo girl who did it 2 years ago and lost 40 kilos (88lbs) and she is so happy... said she's never regretted it. Look into thoroughly before you do it, so your well informed. Good luck with your decision.

New Face
Welcome John. I've been banded for 2 1/2 weeks and other than the first few days, all has been well. I'm glad I made the decision to do this but admit I was really anxious in the 2 months prior to the op. If I'd known I would get through it so well, I would not have put myself through so much stress. Good luck with your decision... you'll find heaps of advice on this site.

Why is there no name???
So true Tish! :clap2: What's funny about all this is I was reading one of the rant n rave threads on the weekend... it went back as far as 2005/6 and there were comments made about beings newbies... by some people who are doing it to the newbies now. Now isn't that what happens in school??

What to expect? Getting banded on 11/26
I've been banded just ove 2 weeks and other than the first couple of days in hospital, all has been well. Was off my meds after Day 2... healed pretty quickly. Have been following my dr's orders which really helps. I'm halfway through the mushies stage and have my next dr's appoint on 27 nov... may end up with a fill at that time.
