  1. Your welcome. Let me know how you like it!!
  2. I don't really count calories. I focus more on carbs. It seems to work better for me. Thanks for the tip on the salmon! I'll have to check it out.
  3. ....because I'm ready to get to goal so I can move on with my life and not be consumed by thoughts of losing weight!!
  4. Yes, I saw it! I was so afraid that leaving the show would take him back to his old ways. I was soooo impressed with his after footage. He really worked hard. I've been adding an extra minute to my runs and it's been working pretty well. My energy hasn't been there lately for my solid runs, so that's why I changed it up a bit today. I think our bodies just need a change every now and then. Congrats on getting back on the horse!! It's gonna feel great!!
  5. Thanks Kathy! I feel pretty exhaused but I'm okay. My knee did feel slightly stiff but it's fine now. Great job on the run Kathy!! You're doing great!! Good luck with the interview, i'm praying for ya!!
  6. Here's my kick in the butt for ya, Okay....I guess it's more like a poke, but you get the picture, lol. I am glad you are eating now. The only meal I ever skip (only occasionally) is breakfast, and that's only when DS spends the night with his Nonna, lol. I usually do a shake for breakfast. I do usually have a snack around 3 or 4 each day too and occasionally have a very small snack after dinner. You HAVE to eat or your body will hold on to everything for energy, especially if you are doing any exercising. How many calories are you getting in each day? Any exercise? How's your water intake? Lots of things to consider.
  7. Wow Lyn, great job with the running!! And congrats on the 1/2 marathon!! You are doing so good!! I'm praying about your job interviews. Well, today was my run day and I decided to do it a little different today. Instead of running straight, I decided to do the full 5k, running and walking, to see what my time would be. I did it in 47:37, not too shabby for my first attempt. I just wanted to get a feel for how long and how far it was going to be. My energy levels aren't the best right now (TOM came with a vengeance today!!). Anyway, I was pretty pleased...
  8. I know someone who had gastric bypass years ago and she is now bigger than she ever was. This is going to be a life-long commitment. It's not just with bypass though, it can with band too, whether it's due to complications or just improper use of the tool. Surgery is not a guarantee, that's why it's soooo important for us to do our part as well. As for Al and Carnie, I don't what happened with them....
  9. Kathy~ The outfit sounds smokin' hot!! luluc~ Good for you!! It's never too late to go back to school! Best of luck with it!!
  10. Hey Renewed!! Isn't today the day you and DH are going to the PS appt? I'm anxious to hear what they say!!
  11. This is the first I have heard about them. Sounds interesting though....
  12. Do you have a friend or family member that could be your accountability support? Maybe try rewarding yourself with something nice if you meet your weekly goal? Just a thought.... I am a year out of surgery and the first 7 or 8 months I barely did any exercise. I think it's a matter of finding something you LOVE to do. I've been running and I absolutely love it!! It's a challenge and that's what keeps me going. Someone mentioned signing up for some classes. I think that's a great idea. If it's classes you have to pay for, maybe you'd be more likey to go and finish them?
  13. Fanny~ Praying your surgery goes well! Let us know how you are when you feel like posting. Kathy~ New outfit? How cool!! I agree with Leslie, don't settle. Get an outfit that's fierce!!
  14. Renewed~ Very cute story! Although it embarrassed you, what a nice compliment!! Lyn and Kathy~ Best of luck to both of you with your upcoming interviews! I hope it works out for you both! luluc~ I'm also married to a "gadget whore", lol. I just told him I wanted the nike+ sport system and he seemed interested in the electronics of it, so maybe it's a possibility... Leslie and Jeannie~ Glad ya'll are getting back with the running! 5K here we come....

  16. WTG Kathy!! Great pictures! What a great accomplishment!! Renewed~ Glad you are back!! I missed ya!! luluc~ Good luck with your race!! Well, I didn't have it in me to do 20 minutes today. I only made it to 17 minutes! I don't know what the deal was. I felt like stopping at 10 minutes but pushed as long as I could. Oh well, maybe Tuesday...
  17. I found this recipe and thought I would share. I made it today and it's really good. I didn't make the whipped cream but I'm sure it's good too! Low Carb Praline pumpkin Pie Ingredients Praline Crust: 2 tablespoons hot melted butter 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans 1/2 cup sugar substitute (recommended: Splenda) 1/8 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon Pie Filling: 1 (15-ounce) can no sugar added pumpkin filling 3/4 cup sugar substitute (recommended: Splenda) 1 tablespoon plus a dash pumpkin pie spice 1 1/4 cups heavy cream 4 eggs Low Carb Whipped Cream, recipe follows Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Make the crust: Mix all crust ingredients together in a small bowl. While mixture is still warm from the butter, press it evenly into the bottom of a deep-dish pie pan. Bake for about 5 minutes, or until browned. Remove piecrust from oven. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Make the filling: Place all filling ingredients in a medium bowl and mix well with a wire whisk. Pour filling into prebaked piecrust. Bake for 15 minutes and then reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees F. Continue to bake for an additional 50 to 55 minutes. To test for doneness, stick a toothpick in the center; if it comes out clean, the pie is done. Cool and then chill before serving. To serve, top each slice with a dollop of low carb whipped cream. Low Carb Fresh Whipped Cream: 1 cup heavy cream 1/3 cup sugar substitute (recommended: Splenda) 1 teaspoon no sugar added vanilla extract With an electric mixer on high, whip the heavy cream just until frothy. Then add in the sugar substitute and vanilla extract and continue to whip on high until peaks form. Be careful not to over-whip, or cream will break. Transfer to a pastry bag or just spoon onto pie.
  18. LOL! I usually try to increase my jog by a minute each time I run and every time I do it, I start smiling like a big dork!! I can't help it though. We earned the right to smile like goof balls, lol. So, smile on my friend.... You are doing great Fanny! Keep it up!!
  19. Welcome Fanny! I stuck with the program through week 4. I got stuck there and couldn't seem to get past it, so I took the wonderful advice from a few of the ladies here and started doing one long run. I've worked up to 18 minutes of running straight and I hope to try 20 minutes tomorrow. The program is wonderful, but if you need to make some changes, it's no big deal. I know I extended the walking time a little in a couple of the weeks. As long as you are increasing your running time and progressing, do it however you see fit. Sounds like you are off to a wonderful start! Good luck and I'm glad you are joining us!!
  20. Congrats Tootie! Great job!! I am going to shoot for 20 minutes tomorrow, so ya'll keep your fingers crossed... Great songs Kathy! I love Mustang Sally! It's my dad's favorite song and I used to hear it all the time. My collection is pretty eclectic. I love all kinds of music. 21. Hi and welcome to LBT! Great job on the weight loss! Keep up the good work!
  22. Congrats on your upcoming surgery!! Best of luck to you!
  23. Hi Patty! I don't live near you but I just wanted to wish you the best. How great to have a twin to go to for support and question! Good luck to you!!
  24. Just finished my run. I was able to do 18 minutes, but barely. My phone (which is like an ipod) stopped working for like 6 minutes. I was fumbling around on the treadmill (while running - it wasn't pretty) trying to get it to work. It's hard to run without music. I'm sure it's in my head mostly, but still. I finally got it working again but it just threw me off. My plan was to try for 20 minutes, but it wasn't happening today. Maybe Sunday...
