JustJaime5 got a reaction from wagyu in 4 days post op... I am hungry?!
I was starving. For the first 2 months after surgery. Yes I was on omeprezole. No it was not head hunger. I was so upset bc that was one of the things I was looking forward to after surgery. No more hunger. Some people say they are never hungry. That was never me. It was this awful hunger that I could hardly stand..... And then it stopped. Once I started eating foods and balancing my calories through the day. It did go away. So don't give up. Keep sticking with the plan your doc has and you will get through it. It's normal.

    Hello all!!!
My name is Thomas, or Tom or Tommy! I am 34 year young and currently live in North NJ (Bergen County). I am married for just over 5 years. I have been obese my entire life, and late last year I decided I wanted to take the steps to a better life and a healthier life. I am going to be having the gastric sleeve procedure done, on July 22nd (just found out my date this morning). I am extremely excited!! I have done WW in the past, other diet fads, nothing really worked or stuck. My first time I did WW as an adult was about 8 years ago and the reason I started was prerequisite for gastric bypass surgery (had a date, but did not have the surgery). I never had the surgery because I was doing so well on WW, I lost almost 100lbs in less than a calendar year, and then life happened and food was there and I gained it all back and then some!! SO NO MORE!!!! I know food will always be there, and life will too, but this will help me to deter myself from food!!! Plus, I am hoping it gives me more energy and motivation to get to the gym!!! My goal weight is 200lbs, but as long as I can get to 220, I will be happy!!!
Thank you all for taking the time to read part of my story (have to leave some mystery behind me), and I look forward to connecting with as many people as I can! Cause I have tons of questions!!!
    Tom

@@faxxy you need to take a couple of steps back and look at the big picture.
You seem to be fixating on small things in the near future.
A month or two from now this period of time will be just a memory.
You will eat steak and have a margarita again. Please just try to relax and think longer term.
I have no reason to lie to you about this

I've noticed, for myself, my body literally stops losing weight for two to three weeks and then I lose a lot in a week... Start and stop.... so, I stopped weighing myself as much. I only do it once a month. I've relied more on clothing sizes to mark progress. "Can I get in this shirt yet? Nope... not yet"... few weeks later "Hot damn, I am in that shirt! Time to weigh myself." I have to mentally keep my mind out of that crazy space where I'm watching numbers.

I find it almost impossible to not weigh in every day, usually first thing in the morning and then again after dinner. It's an obsession. I know I should put the scale away someplace inaccessible, I know it's a mental game and I know I'm losing inches, but I still cant get over the impulse to constantly weigh in.

I'm only 3 months out and can tell you to be patient. I literally wrote the same things and was worried like you that I was "failing". I hit a 21 day stall and to say I panicked is an understatement. I am currently just shy of 50 lbs. it will come off. Trust me. Maybe not as fast as you would like but it will come off. I just keep plugging away. Getting to the gym and tracking my food daily.
I can tell you I am in jeans that I haven't worn in 4 years and have lost over 7 inches from my hips and waist each. I try to remember those things are just as important as the scale.
We have all been where you are and a lot of us felt / feel the same way so know that what you are feeling is normal. I hope just knowing that makes you feel a little better. Stick with it! You are doing great.

I am three months out. How many carbs should I be eating on a daily basis? I get 80 to 100 grams of Protein and a small amount of fat but not sure about carbohydrates.
    Thank you!!

Lol. I've found its the perfect thing to break a stall. For some reason the next morning I always drop a pound or two so I'm going with a yes in the "is it exercise" column!

Adding to the chorus; you've done more these past few weeks than you ever have in a very long time. Secondly, STEP AWAY FROM THE scale. It will only make you crazy. Your doctor hasn't cleared you to exercise, but are you walking for at least 30 minutes a day? Are you getting all your water/fluids in? Hitting your Protein goals? Relax and stay the course, this is not a race, this is a lifelong challenge.

    SCREW THE SCALE!!
You know that the scale measures the weight of your muscles as well as your fat, right? Well, it sounds to me like you have been gaining muscle from your workouts! This means the scale may not budge because muscle is dense and will weigh more than fat BUT you ARE getting smaller -- as proven by your measurements!!
Be nice to yourself!! Focus on how far you have come from where you were pre-op. And remember this is not a race, it is your life! Keep up the good work!

Hello December sleevers. I had my surgery on 12/9 I'm approaching my 3 mo visit w my dr and I'm afraid he's not going to be happy w my weight loss so far. It's going sooooo slow. Lots of stalls. I'm down 41.4lbs. I lost 30 the first month out then 11.4 in 2 months? Does that seem right to everyone? He didn't give me a goal but he said 30 lbs was just about what he would consider average % for my starting weight in the first month. The second month I had to minimize activity bc one of the incisions needed to be re cut and left open to heal on its own. I had like a 3 week stall during that time.
I'm just getting past the walking / treadmill stage at the gym and have kicked it up a notch to spinning and toning classes. I'm eating between 700-1000 calories but I have had a day or two at 1200 calories. And I'm hungry! I am full really fast but I'm hungry every 2 hours. I was told not to count calories just to count Protein but I see how little some folks are eating and I look at my slow weight loss and I'm thinking that's why, but the funny thing is the days I've had the 1200 calories, I've dropped weight the next day or so. So while I feel like that means I may not be getting enough calories, I'm afraid to eat more.
I track on myFitnessPal, according to their calories (even assuming I didn't have the surgery) I should be losing 2 lbs a week. I think my calorie allotment is just over 1400 cal to lose 2 lbs a week. I realize that's for "non surgicals" but wouldn't it stand to reason that I should lose a min of 2 lbs a week if I eat less than that?
The scale is not my friend. I know I need to stay off but it's so hard. I have lost 6.5 inches from my waist and the same from my hips. So I'm seeing progress just not on the scale and that's all my doc goes by.
Did anyone's doc give them a scale or set expectations for the 3 month visit?

How is everyone doing? Aside from a minor incision complication I'm 3 weeks out tomorrow and down 20 lbs! Super excited. Can't wait for the incision to close up so I can start upping my activity level. I had one question for everyone.
Is anyone else hungry? I know they said we would not feel satisfied on the soft foods / full liquid phase but I'm starving. I feel like I did before the surgery! I was looking forward to losing that feeling. Anyone know if it eventually happens? Or is this as good as it gets?
Im taking the 20 mg of omeprezole. Not sure why I feel so hungry all the time.
