    Very disappointed!

@@supremeh Do not pay attention to people's negativity and crappy opinions. People will drain you of your emotions and damper your spirit. No one knows your journey but you.
  4. Had orientation today and will be meeting my surgeon for the first time on June 26th! I can't wait!

    Just did something scary!

Awesome, congrats on your success so far, I can't wait to have the same kind of anxiety... I wouldn't mind it a bit. HEHEH =)
  6. Awesome, very inspirational list. I was wondering how Graham Elliot had lost so much weight when the new season of Master Chef started, it looks like he tastes the food and doesn't swallow it and I was wondering if he had gotten a surgery and maybe just spits the bite out off camera.
  7. I'm so excited to go to my orientation seminar tomorrow that I can hardly take it!

Good luck!! I will have you in my thoughts, you will do great! Happy birthday =D
  9. Hmmm you guys should maybe consider couples therapy. Or you can each go by yourselves, to work on his insecurities if he doesn't feel like he can open up in front of you and you to talk about your frustrations with him, and then maybe go together later so that you guys can have a moderator and address the issues in a safe environment once you know how to articulate them. It would be worth a try if you love each other and want to make it work.

    STUPID PCP!

That is completely absurd! My obgyn was the one who told me I should consider surgery. Definitely ask yours about the letter. Ask the hospital where you are having your surgery if they happen to create letters for the drs to sign. Where I am having mine done they will create the letter for your dr based off of the data they collect from them, if they need them to, and the dr just signs it.

    Aetna Help!

sorry no with the metformin, not provera.

    Aetna Help!

Ok, yeah, that is a hormone replacement therapy. The metformin is actually a diabetes medication that some dr's find helps PCOS patients as well, I take it as well as my birth control, and my OBGYN is fine with me taking it. The metformin helps limit the amount of sugar absorbed into your body, as well as limits the amout of sugar your liver makes. One of my friends with PCOS has had great success losing weight with just that medication, diet and exercise, I'm kind of jealous. lol

    Aetna Help!

Ugg I know that feeling, I had to be put on BC to regulate my TOM because sometimes I wouldn't have it for a year or more and it wasn't a good thing, but I'd still have insane pms symptoms. Has your PCP tried metformin on you? I'm not a fan of it, it doesn't really help me lose a lot of weight fast, however I've slowly lost a few lbs on it and it's kept me from quickly balloning back up if I have a week where I'm not being as good as I should be with diet and exercise. If you aren't on it, maybe they can try it on you for your last month and see if it helps you loose a little to help you with your approval. It does have some nasty side effects, but I've found if I eat healthy and do not overeat then I don't really have the terrible side effects.

    Aetna Help!

I too have Aetna, the FL state workers version. You should lose some weight when you do the liver shrink diet. I think as long as you are at least a lb less than you were when you started you will be ok, but I believe from what I have read of Aetna guidelines you can't weigh more than your first weigh in. I have PCOS as well and my weight can fluctuate 5 lbs one day to the next, the Water retention is the worst. You probably already are, but if not avoid a lot of salt and fat. Drink a lot of water, I know it sounds weird but when your body is dehydrated it wants to hold onto the Fluid, so when it feels like it's plenty hydrated it will release the fluid. Walking 2-3 times a week for 15-20 mins helps me too. Try to schedule your appointments a few days after TOM, because if you go the week before or the week of that seems like when the water retention is the worst.
  15. LOL Vacation! Are you married to my xhusband? That is the attitude I got when I had both of my heart surgeries and had to be off work. Hopefully he will change his tune, his beautiful wife is becoming a healthy hottie.

    Wake Up Call?

My dad is only 60 and at one point in his life he weighed over 500 lbs. I'm not sure where his weight is at now, I know he lost a couple of hundred pounds at one point a few years ago due to a stroke and diabetes. However over the last several months he has had one issue after another with his health - high blood pressure, diabetes, hundreds of strokes over a few days due to embolisms, infections, and now melanoma cancer. I have a ton of health issues myself and I'm already miserable at 35 so I'm just like watching him and thinking holy crap, if I'm already this bad off I will be doing worse than him by his age, if I even make it to his age. I had high blood pressure at my last dr appointment, I've been dealing with scoliosis pain non-stop for months, much worse than I ever have dealt with back pain before, my asthma inhalor dosage had to be doubled at my last dr appt. I just felt defeated because I work so hard to lose weight with no success. The melanoma cancer scare, even though it isn't related to weight, is just what kind of woke me up that I need to take control now and take drastic measures, otherwise I really may not make it to his age. I want to go into my elderly years happy and healthy and have the ability to actually enjoy my retirement, that is something I really look forward to in the future.
  17. That is kind of like when I had to have heart surgery and quit smoking my X-husband would not quit smoking around me, and would even fire up in the vehicle right next to me and get po'd if I'd roll the window down. Unfortunately some people do not know what it means to have a little compassion and to be supportive. He could eat his junk and keep it out of your face. As far as cooking dinner it should not be expected of you, especially if you work and help support the home financially too. I'm assuming in your vows you did not say that you swear to be his mother for the rest of your life. Good luck, I hope that he comes around, keep your chin up and being strong and doing what is good for you! =) Try to find a way to make his lack of empathy give you strength and determination to carry on.

How bad did your IV spot hurt?

I've had to spend weeks in the hospital in the past and I always struggle with the IV, you can ask them to move it to a new spot because that one is giving you issues.

  21. I seriously sitting here still like... wtf did I just read!?!?!?!?! Good for you for blocking her on FB. You don't need her drama.
  22. It is interesting how selfish and self centered she is but is projecting her own issues onto you like they are your issues. I know it has to hurt to see what she is saying, if any more of your friends send you anything just say you aren't interested. I do not know why you chose WLS, my first thought was maybe this girl (you) has a serious medical condition (like I do) and needs to lose the weight quickly to be healthy. Nothing my friends do effects me unless I make a conscious decision to allow it to. I may worry about them, but it is not going to send me into a spiral of insanity like this chick has obviously entered. I do not know what kind of person she is, however it looks like she loves attention and since she obviously has a warped perception of the fat acceptance movement she is using your life choice to get her much needed attention looking for people to agree with her and make her feel better about her own life choices. And like others said, she seems to have a huge green eyed jealous monster coming out, maybe she knows you will get a lot of attention and she likes to be the only one getting attention. She kind of comes off like a fat Hitler, if you aren't fat you aren't right and must hate all fat people. Wanting to be healthy at a lower weight does not equal hating fat people or hating yourself. As for her list, this youtube vid may give some good perspective, I love it. People usually speak out of ignorance when they say why you shouldn't get WLS. He starts with the list of why other people tell you not to have weight loss surgery at about 3:25.
