I have always contemplated it, especially a year or so after I had my son in Feb.2006.
But what really did it was two things...
#1. I was in a pretty bad car accident 2/21/14 and it messed up my neck and lower back. I have bulges from my L3 to my S1. Also a few in my neck. All my Doctors have said, I need to slim down.
#2. My son, Brent, has Aspergers and is of course a very honest child. He has brought up my weight and asked me why I'm so big/fat. I always keep in mind that he is autistic and i don't take much offense. But on my Daughters 4th birthday (4/28/14) my evil B!%<# of a mother in law, had the gusto to say to my son , " it's lucky you take after and look like your dad, you don't want to be fat and UNPRETTY , like your mother!" My husband was soooo angry... It was all I could do not to slap the begeezus outta her. By the way my son looks and does take after his mama! Just, skinnier of course! But, that was the final straw. I said to myself "regardless of anybody's opinion, I'm beautiful either way, but it's time to show that "Witch" who's boss!"
I'm doing this for me and my kids! Mostly me!!! The scheduling wait is killing me

I would like to receive a pen pal! I think it's an amazing idea. Please, if I can sign up I'd like to. I'm scheduled to be sleeved 8/7/14 (a week from today) OMG sooooo excited

Checking in here. My date is August 8th. Next Friday! I'm doing ok n the pre-op. Not a perfect patient but doing my best. I really regret not having a bigger "food funeral" lol

I found out yesterday that August 25th is my surgery day. I am so ready to get this done and start living a new life!

Kristigo- Please don't give up. As hard, disappointing and defeating as this is, have hope. I'm sure they will work things out. Good Luck and I hope round 2 is a GO!

Got my date August 20

I already new I was approved and have a date scheduled... But I received my approval letter from my Insurance today! It's soo awesome I cannot wait. Day 3 of pre op diet here I come! It's getting a bit easier

Tgrace, My date is the 7th and I'm on day 3 of my pre op. So far it's not too bad. Trust me, it sucks when you drive by somewhere you're used to eating at and can't and it seems impossible to go out with family or cook (some just flat at don't want the torture of doing it... I can or my hubby will cook it doesn't seem to bother me.) I'm training my head hunger. It's been a process. The only thing I know is, I'm weak. I've been staying hydrated, taking my Vitamins, and drinking my shakes. At dinner time I do however get a lean Protein meal with some veggies. I can have sugar and fat free Jello, popcicles and pudding. In between my shakes and meals if I need something to supplement it. But, even with day one being just two shakes a lot of Water and a small protein dinner... For me personally it isn't too bad. I dreaded it myself... Good luck!

I just survived Subway with my mom!!! Lol that's been the hardest test so far.
My 9th wedding anniversary is the 6th of August. The day before surgery. I'm hoping the hubby has big plans considering I can't eat. But... My big celebration will be on my 10th a year later. We're having a wedding /vow renewal with a big reception. I can't wait to look amazing I'm my dress! That's a big part of my motivation!

I'm on day 13 (surgery is Monday yay!) and it does get much easier. The first few days were a little tough mentally, but I knew I had enough fat around my body to keep me going. I did tone down the exercise a bit and drank alot of fluids, but my appetite actually adjusted and now I quite like the feeling. It's almost like a cleanse.
Also, losing 12-13 lbs in two weeks helped more than a bit with morale.

I'm on day two. I am on a strict menu. It's six Opti-Fast shakes and one Protein bar a day. Soup, Jello, nothing else is an option. Except I'm allowed to have sugar-free, caffeine-free, calorie-free liquids (which also means taste-free). I have a slight headache, but my energy level is okay. I made pizza and tacos for the kids today. Everything looks twice as delicious as usual, so I've been doing the Jedi Mind Trick on myself.
"These are not the meals you are looking for--move along. Drink a shake."
And it's been working.

I was outpatient but was in the hospital for 23 hours and one overnight stay.
Outpatient isn't what everyone thinks it is

I am being sleeved as an out patient procedure in September. I'm a little nervous about it, But mainly because I only met my surgeon once and the next time I see him is the day of surgery.
I know someone who's already went through it with my same surgeon and she seems to have survived and be doing well.

My surgeon who has an excellent track record does surgeries in a clinic and are out patient. I had to stay one night due to my sleep apnea but it was a good experience. My view-no reason to stay in hospital with sick people!!!

Happy day, I just got my approval letter in the mail. 8/14 ...less than 3 weeks now!!!

Day Two, Noon: Sister made pizza. Left half out on the counter. (I will not lick the pizza. I will not lick the pizza.)

Excited to ride, rides comfortably at theme parks, not catch hell for being "Big", look amazing in my wedding dress for my vow renewal next year, be able to shop at new stores like, Victoria Secret, for other things then bath products!!! and finally....
Play comfortably with my kiddos!

I agree! We ca do it! August 7th surgery date is only 2 weeks! So close yet so far away

Living in Vegas with 2 new Water parks, I'm looking forward to next summer! So I can walk in there without having people look and act like Shamu escaped! LOL (not funny, but the feeling is oh sooo true)

Just step into a regular store and pick something off the regular rack and buy it.

August 7th here!!!! Can't come fast enough
