KrissySMD got a reaction from FairySleeve in Ugh my Mother!
I had my surgery in June and my Mom is still making me nutty. My hubby and Dad are really supportive. But my Mom and Sister-in-law drive me batty. Both are very overweight and know I have struggled for so long. But it's like this was a personal attack on them that I had this surgery and am losing. I've been having some problems with vomiting here and there and when my daughter (who is 10 and totally proud of me) says anything to my Mom about how worried she is when I'm not feeling well gets "Well your Mom made a bad decision and now needs to live with it." Nice, huh? I have learned to shrug it off instead of blowing up. And my daughter has stopped saying anything to Grandma because she herself supports me.
If you have to keep them out of it. DO IT! Make your life easier and don't let others get you stressed or discouraged!
    Best of luck to you!

Has anyone had any yummy spicy food yet? It is settling just fine but what about the heat and the need to quench it??? Don't tell me I'm off spicy forever!

Thank you all for your kind responses. I finally got a hold of my surgeon. She wanted me to start soft food again to see if would help with my nausea. It has! I'm eating slowly every 2-3 hours. Doing better.

Isopure makes me gag. Even diluted.
I have some of the new way in grape. I'm diluting that big time.
It's a good thought on whether I should be doing Protein at all. Hope the doctor calls soon. Thanks for the input.

I know we are supposed to pace ourselves when eating, and I am. But after just a small bite, I am feeling full and gassy. Sometimes even really nauseous. And it makes it really hard to get my 64oz of Water in. (I know I am always complaining about fluids).
    Any one else?

KrissySMD got a reaction from Jenuine629 in 2 week post op! 30 min drinking rule s**ks!
Hi June sleevers! My surgery was June 3rd and my 2 week post op visit was yesterday. All good. I've lost 20lbs and have been upgraded from pureed to soft food! AND I don't have to crush pills anymore (thank goodness).
My visit went well then I got home and had flu like symptoms for hours. Couldn't keep anything in. Don't know what that was about. Now today I'm having a hard time again. Went for a great walk this morning before all the crazy storms hit Chicago. Then I REALLY wanted a good drink of Water. As we all have learned, that's not quite possible anymore. So I sipped and sipped and felt overheated and icky. All day I've had problems getting Protein in. At last count after dinner I only have 42grams. I cannot even think of a shake right now. I made tilapia for dinner with some greek yogurt and it was fabulous. But now I have to wait the required 30 minutes to drink and all I want is Water. I know this is quite a journey. But I actually find the hardest part to be this liquid thing. 64oz a day. Sipping only. NOT drinking before or after a meal for 30 minutes. This is HARD.
Anyone else going nuts over this?!

KrissySMD got a reaction from christycookiegirlbella in Taking meds after surgery.
You will probably be told (as I was) that you cannot swallow any pill bigger than an aspirin for 2-3 weeks. I am on a few meds as well and had to crush them and eat them with apple sauce. So buy a good pill crusher now to be ready. Eating them is nasty but it's only for a little while. I had my 2 week post op visit yesterday and was released to swallow any pill whole. But you still have to get used to swallowing them with only a sip and not a gulp with them all at once like I was used too!
Best of luck! This is an awesome place for support. Welcome!

Yep! I have yet to get all my Water in AND the idea of gulping a full glass of Water down when I'm thirsty is almost as frustrating as wanting to chew some food and not being able to!
Gotta get used to this "new normal" :-)
    Good luck!

KrissySMD got a reaction from BigGirlPanties in Alcohol
I had my 2 week post op visit today and I specifically asked about this! Especially since it's a HOT few days here in Chicago and friends are having lots of outdoor parties in the evening. I was told NONE for 3-6 months (but NEVER anyting carbonated again). My dietician actually said it's more like 3 months usually. She was sweet and said she can imagine how hard it is to refuse wine from a girlfriend. It's true but I am lucky my friends understand. (Or they don't know cuz I have not said anything).
Suckville for summer, I know. But we did this for a reason.
Stick in there and have a great summer!

I'm on day 11 and walking is not easy. I go for shorter walks so I don't get too exhausted. But walking in any way helps. If you walk to stores, that is awesome! No stores close enough to me to walk to. I'd be all over that! Just for Starbucks Passion Tea!

Well, I start my two-week pre op Monday and I have some expensive pagne in the wine fridge. Since it will be quite some time before I even look in the general direction of the wine fridge, having a little party to empty those shelves.... I have my Protein powder, just need to work out my "eating" schedule for Monday at work. Surgery on the 30th-can't wait! Have a good weekend all! R

My preop diet was 10 days. And pureed stuff right after surgery. Granted I'm really only handling shakes. But I'm trying a little food every day.

That is bizarre. My doctor told me not to worry, that I was going to lose weight during my pre op. He said that he used my pre diet BMI and that's not going to change. My insurance has paid without really anymore questioning. I DID have to have a sleep study. But that was for the anesthesia doctors. I also had no co morbidities. When I checked in on post op day (June 3rd) I was 12lbs down and my nurse congratulated me.

That sounds fair when it comes to doctors. If they tell you 90g or more, they are probably thinking what you'll actually absorb from those 90g. But my doctor did say there's no such thing as too much Protein.

KrissySMD got a reaction from BeagleLover in Still nauseous after 10 days plus no stamina
I don't know what the back pain would be. Other than referred pain from your tummy or gas that you don't even know you have.
I stil have pain in the larger incision. They said that would hyrt the longest because it's where they pull the stomach through. (TMI truly) But I'm glad they told me.
Now I need to get walking more.

KrissySMD got a reaction from Miss Mac in Too much protein in one sitting leading to hair loss?
I talked to my doctor today and was told that too much Protein is impossible. If your hair is thinning, start taking Biotin. It's online on Amazon in gummies (they are really good) or at any health food store. My doctor highly recommended it for those who worry about Hair loss. Lots of people to not have hair loss though. It's very individualized. But the Biotin can't hurt. It makes your nails stronger and good for your skin!
    Hope that helps.

I'm having stamina issues so bad. I get really shaky in the shower (not dizzy or nauseous) but it takes everything out of me. Even getting dressed but yet walking no problem. Not sure what's going on....wish I had more energy!
Also, I've been having a lot of lower back pain and I don't know why. I'm passing gas, voiding ok, having bms. But it hurts, probably even more so than my incision. Anyone have any ideas?

Yea...barfed today after eating a well pureed egg. Nasty! But I just had to laugh. I knew I wouldn't get away with never having it happen. My hubby and kid were out riding bikes. Freaked out my poor dog. But, hey, now I know how much slower I have to eat.
