I am 4 weeks out today. I have felt hunger within the last week. Especially in the morning but after I eat my bowl of Cereal it goes away. I have never heard that about not feeling hunger. That is interesting.

The hunger never completely goes away but it is satisfied very easy with very little food.

Divadee35 find some form of moving that you actually like. I have always worked out but the eating was horrible. I love Zumba, my gym has free classes. I also rollerskate, they have the music blasting and its fun. Do something that doesn't feel like exercise and you will stick to it. Nothing beats walking...PS I met my husband at the gym...try it one day you may like it.

I haven't been hungry since the 1st week of my official 2 week preop diet (I had to diet longer because my BMI was so high). Postop, my stomach has never growled or signaled physical hunger. And you here people mention head hunger and honestly I'm not sure exactly what that hunger is or what that means. I just get a feeling when I need to eat if I get busy and go too long without eating something. Im 8 months post, and nothing's changed in that aspect since I got my sleeve. I know when I'm starting to get full because I start to salivate more. I have way more oral secretions now and I have to spit it out because I don't want to swallow it and fill my tiny tummy with it. I hate it- not lady like There are so many changes postop that I'm sure your scenario will be different and you will figure it out as you get to know your sleeve.

itsreallyK reacted to odesa in How much could you eat 2 weeks post op?
    Hi,
Just wanted to say I too was surprised that I could eat literally a whole can of anything when I was about 3 or 4 weeks out. Water is a big way to help things move along but too much Water can also make me full. I would not worry about the 'ability' to eat more than the size of your stomach, all it means is that by the time you finished your last bites the first bites were NOT in your stomach anymore, they were sent along and thus you had room for more.
I did a small test with the water thing and if I sip water with my Wendy's chili I can finish a large chili and be full, if I don't drink I can only eat about 2/3rds of it and be full and full for longer. Luckily my doctor has this as one of the 'rules' to successful weight loss (his rule is no drinking for 30 min prior and up to 1 hour after though I will start to drink around 30 minutes cause I need lots of water and I can only sip it!).
So your lil tummy should be just fine as I did the same thing you mentioned LOL. Still now I think 10 weeks post op I can only eat less than I could at 3 or 4 and I am not sure why but I'll just go with it.
Best of luck on your journey!

3 weeks ago I had my lap band removed and had the sleeve procedure done. It's been great so far. Still trying to figure out what I can eat and not eat. I am down 18 pounds! The band was not a good tool for me. I take too much medication (i have MS) and it would get clogged. So, I was in for unfills and fills and unfills and fills. Then it slipped.

I have had a baby, my gallbladder removed 2001, lapband 2005 had the lapband removed and sleeved 2014....my biggest pain was the contactions from the baby!! My slowest recovery was from gallbladder removal! Lapband surgery and sleeve surgery were a PIECE OF CAKE!! My dr took me off 3 weeks to heal but honestly i felt normal at 3 days and was doing my normal routines at 3 days! Yu will be fine, think positive and try not to worry abt it!!

Thanks for the info Forsythia, I'm still in the full liquid phase so can't wait to be able to eat real Protein again other than the liquid shakes. I came home from the hospital on Thursday and by Saturday I was getting about 45g of protein in. Since I have been on full liquid I know its about 65g of protein. I love Water but have been having trouble getting enough water in. Congrats on your success so far.

Diva I am sorry about the complications you are experiencing. I am a little over a week out and physically have not had any issues (knock on wood) so my prayers and positive energy are with you. I did think yesterday like wow I made a permanent decision regarding my body that I could not do on my own and briefly was like what did I do. I realize we are both in the beginning phase so will experience a lot of these thoughts and I know it doesn't help when physically you are suffering. I know you will get through it and I know that this was not a easy decision and pray in the end will be happy with the decision we made. You will feel better...

Hello everyone I just joined today. I will figure out how to post my picture. I was sleeved last week on May 20. I actually had the lap band taken out and revised to the sleeve. So far its been okay. I saw my surgeon today for the first week follow up. I am down 9 pounds...yay. I had a drain but it was taken out before I left the hospital. I am able to get my liquids down really good and still do not have an appetite. I concurrently have Senegalese Twists, my hair is very thick and I am concerned about losing hair. If anyone knows, is the Hair loss just because of the lack of Protein. I'm doing good with the protein as well. Trina I understand if you have any questions, I'm new to this but will try to help as much as possible. Thanks for this thread.

I think we all have that thought "I can't believe I did that". So funny to get confirmation that we are not alone in out thoughts.

I wish I would have started to cut back before surgery I'm about 2-3 per day I work in a hospital and its essential. I was sleeved on May 20th and have been having caffeine withdrawal headaches. Yesterday was my one week follow up with my surgeon. I asked the dietician and she said she recommends to wait for at least two months because the caffeine may cause ulcers. It is hard she did say that other people have used caffeine before the two months and they were okay but its no way to tell who may be affected by caffeine. So I have to deal with these headaches and hope they stop. I am so looking forward to the 8 weeks/2months where I can have my coffee again.

    Karen,
I guess when I read that 99.9 % of black people are negative about the things that they don't know it ru s me the wrong why. When you claim your own wont support you, but you wont support your own with giving them some education about a life saving procedure. In my eyes the man that knows and wont teach is just guilty as the man that didnt take time to learn. I hate to break the news, but I heard white people are negative to. Its thousands of Caucasians on this site who cant share there whole story for lack of support or fear of judgement. Ignorance has no color.

Im not sure when this AA sleevers forum turned into a bash our own people page, but not feeling it. Ignorance has no color. It comes from fear, and lack of education in life or on the subject. Lets be honest with ourselves and admitt that you dont or didnt tell others cause of your own insecurity about the surgery. You can't generalize a whole race because your friends and family may not get it. They may understand but your to scared to tell them. You have to remember why you had your surgery. The most important thing is health not looking good in a new outfit. Help our race understand dont not them if you haven't put forth the effort to help educate them to umdersrand. Remember ignorance has no color

Today I had my Lapband removed after 3 years. I lost 135 lbs in 1 year and 1/2. At the end of 2012 I had to have Fluid removed to have my thyroid removed. We started to refill it again in about 3 months. I would continually be back and forth in dr's office for removal of fluid. In a couple of months we would fill again. We did that for a whole year. Finally, I asked about revision. So today was first step. I actually feel pretty good. I haven't had to take any meds since I have been home. In eight weeks I will have the sleeve done. Oh, I forgot to say I gained about 50 lbs. I am so excited to join the sleeve club.
