  1. Hi Rabid24, Dr. Hamilton is an old friend of my husband and mine. He is a great guy and a great surgeon. I haven't heard of anyone else having him as their surgeon either. Good luck with your surgery. Hugs!
  2. My prayers go with you PVChickie and Misty DTX. I will be thinking about you tomorrow.
  3. This is a great question...do we tell or not. I understand everyone who has written here and feel the same way as you all. I have told my husband (of course), my kids, my dad, sister and 3 close friends. My husband, kids, dad (I was very surprised by his support) and ONE friend were supportive. My sister and 2 other friends were not negative, but not supportive either. One of my friends asked me if I am going to tell people. I thought about it for a few days and told her that if people ask me how I lost the weight, that I would be honest, but that I don't plan on announcing it to the world. I AM NOT ashamed, but just careful. We all need to remember....Obesity is a disease, not a personal flaw. Hugs!
  4. Hi and welcome Topdownbug! I will be banded on the 15th in Topeka, Ks. This support group is great and it will answer a lot of your questions.
  5. Good luck to everyone! I have been thinking of all the Oct. 1 bandsters! I hope they are doing well. Nicnaknuk...I am heading to Colorado on Wed. One daughter lives in Colorado Springs and one is in Boulder. Enjoy the traveling. Will you be taking your pre-surgery diet food with you? I LOVE to eat while I am driving. It will be hard to break that habit. My prayers are with the Oct. 2 bandsters. Good Luck! Hugs!
  6. Ok, I just finished taking my pics. Yikes!! Is that really me in the pictures? Surely not!! If I wasn't getting banded on the 15th, I would be totally depressed. Well, it will only get better from now on. Hugs
  7. Amen to that! My prayers are with you all.
  8. Good luck you early birds!! I'll be praying for you all.
  9. Oh, BTW...after surgery, be sure to have a telephone by your bed/chair. This way you won't have to get up and down to answer it. Also, be sure to have the TV remote, kleenex, reading lamp, crafts, books, etc. on table. It's nice to plan ahead. Hugs
  10. Thanks for the list. It is nice to have it written down to take to the store. We bandsters are a great group.
  11. Hi Nacnakut, Sounds like we have the same worries. I am going to Colorado on Wed. to visit with my daughter for a week. I start my liquid diet on Friday. Not good planning. My daughter is very supportive and wants to lose a few pounds also, so it will be OK being with her. My other problem is that I have a lot of family in Colorado who aren't as supportive. It will be an interesting week. At least I will be busy visiting and hopefully won't be really hungry. If we stick together, we CAN do this. --Hugs
  12. I will also be banded on the 15th. We 3 need to stick together!! Haha! I don't have to do my liquid diet until the 5th. Funny how all the docs are different. My husband has offered to go on the diet with me....he is vit and trim! What a guy! My problem is that I am going to Colorado on the 3rd to stay with my daughter for a week. I also have other family there... some supportive, some not. My "last supper" in on Thursday night. It will be a family dinner to celebrate birthdays. I think it will be a fitting last supper. Good luck to you both tomorrow. Let me know how it goes. ---Hugs
  13. Nancy, No way I would let my kids take the pics. You are brave. They would have to pay ME to take my pic. Hugs.
  14. Thanks for adding me to the "tens". My first name is Jackie. The list is great. Thanks.
  15. Today is the first day of writing in my journal. I hate keeping a journal since I am not consistant about writing.:devious Hopefully I will do better this time and will have a record of this journey. I have been having a great time eating myself silly in anticipation of the liquid diet that I start on Oct. 5th. I even made Rice Krispie Treats! Chris and I are at the lake and having fun.

  17. Can I eat the soup for a "liquid" diet? Wasn't sure about the veggies???? The soup sounds great!
  18. Hi. I am Fluffyinks. My banding date is Oct. 15th. My first name is Jackie. Thanks for making the list.
  19. I am taking my 1st picture on Monday. I even went to Wal-Mart and bought an "outfit" for the occassion. (Knit short-shorts and tank top, UGH!) I have a tri-pod, so I am taking my own picture that no one will ever see!! Hugs!
  20. Hi! I will be banded on the 15th. Good luck to you. From what I have read, it seems that a lot of us have some sort of reservations. Mine is just that I am sure I will miss food!! LOL We are starting a new faze of our lives. Good luck!
  21. dmichele! Hi! What kind of liquid powder did you buy? I heard that non-fat instant powdered milk is good protein to put into foods. I WISH wine counted! LOL
  22. Thank you for your kind words. You are an inspiration!!! My husband and I love those kind of events also, and those are the things that I will miss the most. But, my husband is very supportive and for that I am most thankful. (And he is also funding MY adventure!!) My hard time will be the end of the month when my sister (who is also heavy and not very supportive) are going to a conference in Houston, Tx. (BTW, I'm from Ks.) This will be 2 weeks post-op and it is going to be a huge challenge for me. I do not have to start the liquid diet until Oct. 5th. My doctor just wants 10 days of liquids. Yeah! I will be thinking of you on Monday. Maybe by the 5th you can give me some good tips. My banding is at 10:00 central time on the 15th. Like you said...here we go!!
  23. Hi mtndew 42, I am also being banded on Oct. 15. I don't have to start my liquid diet until Oct. 5th. If you get any suggestions about the variety of foods, let me know. I could use all the help I can get.
  24. I am having my banding surgery on Oct. 15th. Is there anyone else who is having their suregery on that date. I would love to hear from you.
  25. Hi Coo, I meant to say hi to you also when I replied to nicnaknuk. Thank you also for your reply. As you can tell, I am very nervous about the pre-op diet. That will be very hard for me. How about you? I'm not so nervous about the surgery since I have had surgery before and know what to expect. I would love to keep in touch with you. Where are you from? ---Fluffyinks
