I agree! Because fat people aren't pretty enough to wear their clothes. Once I lose my weight, I still won't go there!

I understand much better now. The god news is 20 mil should allow drinks through nicely. I was told the opening at first is the size of a dime because it is swollen, as it heals it will be closer to a nickel. Hopefully this endoscopy will hold. Or at least not amount to only 1 mil progress. I do agree that it is a bit odd that you get to see this other doctor. I also think it's odd that one doctor pushes for Lapband and the other for bypass. I know I may just be paranoid but it almost sounds like the first one is only qualified to do Lapband and that's why he pushes it and does the endoscopies in the practice. Both easier procedures.
If you end up back to square one, at some point you may want to consider a second opinion.
The silver lining at this point is you are so very close to the 200 Lb mark. Most people take 6 months to get there. Way to be an overachiever! Lol

I've been reading all of these NSV's to my hubby since the thread started. This weekend I just started laughing when this happened to me. We both had a good laugh together!!

Get some rest, you so deserve it. What a battle. If I understand correctly the first endoscopy only stretched the opening from the stomach into intestines by a millimeter? That's a lot of effort for such small gain, no? Isn't the opening supposed to be the size of a dime?
Hang in there, this too shall pass!

I went up to the surgeons office yesterday because in my opinion, they were taking too long to get me in, and I was pretty upset. For a week they had been telling me they were doing it, they were doing it.
The dr came out and talked to me and he got me in this morning.
My stricture was back down to just one millimeter above what it was when they did it last time. He dilated it 5 mm just like he did last time and I am set to go back in 2 weeks to have it done again.
Right now I am just very sleepy feeling and I will probably conk out here in a few minutes.

I was worried about you. They'll figure it out. The endoscopy will help and this too shall pass. But it is a bummer, I agree!

I would get that test sooner rather than later for sure. I had it also and started using the CPAP machine.
Not long after my surgery I was cured. Such a good thing. I probably should have had the sleep study long before I did.

I am 3 months post op and mine has been coming out also. I understand that it can happen and that some of it has to do with anesthesia in addition to having the surgery. Most say there's comes back and some use Biotin Shampoo and find that really helps.
With chemo and surgery, I think you may be double whammied, so to speak. I would talk with your doctor and see if they recommend upping your Vitamin D3 and B12 in addition to adding Biotin shampoo.
    Bless you,
    Clarissa

My understanding is it starts falling out about 3 months post-op and lasts until about 6 months post-op. Mine is also coming out in handfuls. Luckily I have thick hair so you can't tell, but man if I didn't I would definitely be bald.

it is very normal around 3 months post surgery and it does stop and grow back from everything I have read. Biotin chewables help according to some folks.

pik reacted to BaileyBariatrics in Learning How to Eat Slowly After Weight Loss Surgery
It’s often quite a surprise to learn how slowly you really need to eat after surgery. For those of you that have had surgery, you know that even one very small bite too many can be painful or lead to vomiting. Before surgery, we encourage you to eat slowly to learn that it takes about 20 minutes of slowly eating before your brain recognizes your stomach is full. After surgery it may only take a few bites to begin feeling full.

It’s often quite a surprise to learn how slowly you really need to eat after surgery. Before surgery, we encourage you to eat slowly to learn that it takes about 20 minutes of slowly eating before your brain recognizes your stomach is full. After surgery it may only take a few bites to begin feeling full.
The first step in slowing down your eating is to chew your food to applesauce consistency. A lot of our patients find success by making each bite last 25 chews. Chewing to applesauce consistency works better when you take a very small bite. Think of a bite of food being about the size of a pencil eraser or the size of the tip of your pinky finger. Use smaller utensils like the salad fork or teaspoon or even toddler or baby spoons and forks.
Speaking of utensils, put them down between bites which helps you slow down your eating. A lot of us already have a bite of food loaded on a fork or spoon ready to put in our mouth immediately after swallowing bite of food. Use a saucer or salad plate to reduce portions so you have less food in front of you.
No seat, no eat. Sitting at a table without distractions around you will help you focus on business of chewing. Remove distractions from your eating area. Eating while standing at the sink, driving, watching TV, working on the computer, answering texts or e-mails, reading, making “to do” lists or doing another load of laundry are common distractors in our busy lives.
When you are able to start eating food you can chew foods like cottage cheese or scrambled eggs, start with eating 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) every 10 minutes. Discover your “I’m just about to get full” signal. Our patients report they will hiccup, sneeze, sigh quickly or just realize that next bite of food really isn’t going to work. Focus on the enjoying the few bites you are able to have. Concentrate on the flavor and texture of the food. Many of our patients discover that chewing food well often results in finding out that the foods they really liked before don’t taste as good as they remembered.
If you are eating with others, focus on the conversation and people at the table. Many of our post-surgery patients report that the focus of the meal becomes the conversations, enjoying the company and socializing rather than the food. Learning to slow down your eating will be a difficult skill to master, but is an essential skill to have successful surgical outcomes.
