Congrats one lander !!
I was sleeve 7/28 I've lost 31 lbs including 15 preop. I'm back at work but no heavy lifting. I just bought a size 20 pair of shorts on clearance, from a size 26. I'm very excited! I'm walking every night but, haven't started weights yet, still a little sore.
What's everyone else doing for exercise?

NurseTammy got a reaction from SGL755 in pre-op jitters
If your nervous before your surgery get a massage the day before!
As for Protein Shakes I love Isopure and nectar. I bought on Amazon chocolate, Cookies n cream, Peanut Butter n choc, strawberry, Cappuchino mocha for any mood I have.
I love power ADe zero in blue, sugar free ice pops and Water with lemon/ lime and a touch of fresh mint I shake it with lots of ice it's refreshing!
I walk while I sip it's hard to drink sitting down. I even burp myself like a newborn.
I read somewhere our stomachs are like a newborn a few sips then burp! Then we advance to puréed baby food, then we graduate till thicker chopped foods. Eventually well be skinny healthy grown ups!

Well it only took until July...but...I am now finally able to run the 3.2 miles of the 5K I tried to complete twice earlier this Spring. Turns out I was psyching myself out. I learned by accident that if I slow down when it gets tough instead of panicking I can keep going longer. I know you are all thinking "duh who doesn't know that". Well Me...never having been a runner I didn't realize what I was doing to myself. I believe I had just convinced myself I was never going to be a runner and would never be able to run more than 2 or 2.5 miles. But I'm happy to say that I CAN...and WILL keep doing it now. The last time I went out I actually went for 4.1 miles. I know this is not a big deal for "runners", but for myself it might as well be a MARATHON! I am so happy that I did this for myself. I am still figuring out what works best, but I do know that it is a good feeling that I can lace up and go running whenever I want and DO IT! Take care all. Thanks for listening! And thanks for all the good information here. It has been such a wonderful resource for me this last (almost year...YIKES). And for the first time in my life I am within 20 lbs of my goal weight. I have never ever worn a size 12...these are all firsts for me and it is a wonderful time.

NurseTammy reacted to startingyoung in pre-op jitters
so I am having my surgery next week and I am starting to get nervous. It didn't really hit me until now and I can feel myself unconsciously stress eating and holding stress in my neck and shoulders. Just what I need right now, stress eating! My mom just had her surgery ( as well as surgery for a hernia) but I feel like she was way more dedicated pre-op than I have been. I don't want to have a big stomach and liver during surgery but my nerves are getting to me. Its scary to think that I am making such a permanent and life changing decision at only 19. I know this is what is best for me right now, but I guess I am getting some cold feet. Any advice?

Thank you for doing this. I'll join after it's secret. I'm keeping my surgery private & don't want to accidentally announce it on FB.

NurseTammy reacted to RNBSN786 in NJ
I had my RNY at NYU Langone by Dr. George Fielding. Super nice guy and really cares for his patients. I was in the hospital for 4 days and he came by every day to check on me. He has also been on Dr. Oz show many times. He even did Governor Christy surgery. Matter of fact I saw Governor Christy in his office a few weeks before my surgery and he sure has a lost a lot of weight.

I am not sure if it's the food or not cause people in NYC (Manhattan borough) are in fabulous shape. Plus NYC is a very pedestrian friendly city so you have to walk every where. In NJ you require a car unless you live in JC or Hoboken. Plus when it's cold people don't go out much. So that's why people might be over weight due to that?
