Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)

I live in San Antonio Texas just north of your destination. Many nurses in Texas go to Mexico for their surgery and every one of them has reported a very positive experience. You can do this and you will not regret it. I was sleeved June 2014 and have lost almost 60 lbs. Starting weight 220 ... Now 160. It is life changing!!!
  2. Ladies, you really need to get your protein in if you want to lose weight. Mashed potatoes are not what you need at this point. Yogurt , soft cheese, protein shakes should be the majority of your intake at this point. Small sips and walking in between is what helped me get it in. And sip, sip, sip that water!

It is going to get so much better! I can't emphasize enough how important it is for you ...sip... Sip... Sip.... Get that protein and water in! I am a Breast Health Navigator and Director of a Breast Center. Sleeved 6/10... Starting weight 215. Now 178and feeling fabulous. You will too... Hang in there .... Ask me questions!

It definitely gets better. I am an RN who is a certified Breast Health Navigator and Director of a Breast Center. I was sleeved June 10th. I only took 1 week off of work and did fine but I would advise anyone to take at least 2 weeks off. My numbers are. Starting weight 215. Current weight 178. I came home from hospital on a full liquid diet and was able to get all my protein in but really had to focus on it all day long. My taste had changed so much, everything tasted bad. I use Premier Protein drinks and each has 30 gms of protein. I can't stress enough how important it is to get your protein and at least 48 oz H2O. You will not heal and you will feel bad if you don't. Get these essential nutrients in. I found I had to sip all day long... Little tiny sips. I was fortunate that I didn't have nausea. Walking helped me and sometimes I had to walk after each sip to get rid of gas pains. Walking really helped me. Now, I feel better than I have in 20 years. I am exercising. 30 minutes a day.... Treadmill, elliptical and bike and my weight loss has slowed to 2 lbs a week. I eat anything I want but have not had bread or Pasta. I am so glad I did this and you will be too.

    June 16th!

I was sleeved Tuesday and actually feel pretty good. I dealt with about 36 hours of gas pain/ pressure. Nothing really helped... It just finally resolved on its own. I came home Weds afternoon all blown up from IV fluids. I weighed 210 when I arrived for surgery and 214 when I got home. Now down to 208. I am focusing on walking and sipping and so far am pretty close to getting my intake and Vitamins in each day. How are you feeling? I have had minimal pain and only have taken liquid Tylenol a couple of times.

    Pain

I also was just sleeved ( Tuesday) and the gas pains have finally gone today. Nothing really worked for me... Walking... Gas x strips... I did it all. I guess it just resolves in it's own time. How are you doing with your intake? I am struggling but making slow progress.

    June 16th!

For all of you that are sleeve surgery bound. I had my surgery Tuesday 6/10 and came home the following afternoon. I was pretty uncomfortable in hospital with gas pain. Tried all of the tricks.... Gas x strips ... Walking etc. but nothing really helped. It just started to resolve about 36 hours post op and now is pretty much gone. Got home about 2:30 pm yesterday and went to bed. Slept almost 16 hours straight. You just don't get any sleep in the hospital. At home I have taken a few doses of liquid Tylenol .... I really haven't needed anything stronger. I am sore but not in pain. Coughing and sneezing hurt a little. My focus now is intake.... 80 mg protein and 64 oz water...I am also trying to get my stamina back. I am very tired and weak but hope to regain my strength slowly. I am a little older than many of you.... 66 yrs but have been pretty active. I am ready to answer any questions.

  13. @@yasmineSF welcome home glad things went well with surgery between getting all your Protein and drinking........ drinking is MUCH more important when/if you don't drink enough - you might get dehydrated try sipping room temperature Water - that might be easier for you to swallow sip slowly walking around the house for a while is good too especially if you still have some gas continued good luck during recovery in my chrystal ball i see you will have a wonderful healthier, happier, longer life good luck kathy Sounds like you are on the other side of the worst of it. How are you today? Feeling good? Losing weight?

    Any 2014 June Sleevers

im in San Antonio at the Methodist hospital. I know it seems like the time is dragging but it starts to move along once you are in the last month. I am at peace with my decision to move forward with this surgery because I have exhausted all other options. I start my pre op diet of 2protein shakes and one small meal a say on Monday 6/2. I can't wait to get on the other side of the surgery, where are you in Texas? It is hard to follow one person but I have responses going to my email so I can follow that way.
