  1. I have had my first fill and do not feel all that much difference. Now that I am eating healthier and exercising a ton, I am loosing consistently. My question is: Is there anyone out there who stopped getting fills as they were losing weight consistently - they avoided fills becuase they did not want to experience the PB's that everyone talks about? Just wondering if my behavior modification is working now - along with my drastically reduced calorie intake - why would I want to get to 'restriction'? I am new to this and still trying to figure it all out. BTW, I have another fill appointment on 12/12
  2. I just purchased one on the 24hr Fitness website - 235.37 including shipping - wow, great deal. Cant wait to use it.
  3. I am getting closer! I am at 202.5 this morning, the day after turkey day, and I am thrilled. I have one of those medical type scales with the weights that you slide back and forth...anyway, when I get to 200 or below I will get to move the BIG weight to the 150 mark (then use the small weight for the rest) and I am so excited. I had my first filll this week, so I hope to be in ONEDERLAND no later than DEC 1. Woo Hoo
  4. Im using Mederma and it does not seem to be doing anything so I may try the bandaids....
  5. I actually exercised and ate an unbelieveably small amount on Thanksgiving - both things have never happened before. I was rewarded with a 3/4pound loss this morning. Woo Hoo.
  6. Deb- I know how you feel. I was banded by Dr Nimirl on 10/08 and had to travel out of the country for business last week. I ate like normal - the business dinners etc just finally got to me and before you know it I was eating french fries!!! Ugh - I am back on track now and just had my first fill this morning. I am still proud of my loss so far and know that I have the best chance of making it thru the holidays with the band than with out it. Take care.
  7. Kacee - you rock- we have the same stats and I am 5 months behind you and I am hoping for the same results. Keep up the good work knowing that you are providig inspiration to others.
  8. Ranier - how in the heck have you lost soo much weight!!?? I am so impressed. COngratulations on the pants - I hope to have he smae feeling soon.
  9. Amy - you are doing so great!! Have you lost all of your weight since surgery or did you do a liquid diet before hand? I am so impressed!
  10. You are amazing - this is a fun post to follow - good luck to you.
  11. Nina - I cant wait to have a reason to do my bikini line!!!
  12. I have not had that experience yet but it was actually a factor in getting banded. I am an executive with a global company and looked around to see that I was the most overweight person (by far) in a top position. Right or wrong, that is just how business seems to behave. I hope that I have success with this and am able to fit into beautiful size 10 clothes and then have my appearance 'set aside' so that people can see what I have to offer without prejudice.... Lofty goal maybe, but I will give it a shot....
  13. oops...band aid is on the end of the port scar only because I am still putting neosporin on it and I dont want it to get on my t-shirt.
  14. Julie - were you self pay? If so, how is this second surgery being handled? Will you now have to start from scratch - liquids, mushies, etc? Man, I feel for you - good luck
  15. Great question. I picked mine based on BMI only - I do feel like if I could see 150 on the scale that I would be fine - but for now we will keep it as it is.
  16. Skinny and Betty have it right - if it were 'just diet and exercise' I would have been able to do it a long time ago. Now it is so nice know diet and exercise are facilitated by this wonderful band and that I may actually have a chance at keeping it off. go to the before and after page...you wont question it then.
  17. lucky! lucky! Woo Hoo! I hope I can have that much success!
  18. You will be fine - look at my stats - very similar.
  19. I was the same. I went to my first counsultation on 9/18 and was financed on the spot (care credit I think) and had the surgery on 10/08. Best $$ I ever spent ( or financed to be more accurate!)
  20. Can I join the party? I was banded on 10/08 and I am now at 206.5 and would be overjoyed to join onederland! I am close but now getting a fill until 11/20 so I am exercising as much as possible and trying to make great food choices. I will make it though my first halloween with out a bite of candy!!! Pretty good progress for me as I was usually into at least 20 of those darn bite sized snickers by now!
  21. Thanks all - nice to see that I am not alone. Have a great day
  22. Hi all, I am best known by my nickname, Tinka. I am holding firm at 39 (will ultimately turn 40 on Feb29,2008) and I am married to the best guy ever. Totally athletic and fit but loves me exactly as I am and will be. We have a wonderful son who is 12 and two dogs (labs). I work for a Fortune 50 company and travel the world for work and fun. We have a summer cabin where we spend alot of our time and to think about all the things I could do up there as a thinner me just motivates me more. I enjoy life and can not believe all the wonderful gifts that unfold to me daily - including the lap band. I struggled telling my husband about my desire to have the band for 2 years. I finally told him on Sept 22 and was in Surgery Oct 8 - amazing. I never cared much for exercise but have integrated it in my new life and I am actually having fun. Thought it was appropriate to attach a picture of me with food - here I am about 2 months ago. Actually, now that I see it, it may be the perfect sized taco for my new life!
  23. I have the same fear. I started solids yesterday and so far I have eaten a half a chicken breast for lunch and another half for dinner. My other meals are my old reliables - yogurt and hummus. I have to say, the chicken felt no different and was actually very filling. I was at a restaurant for a business dinner last night and caused quite a stir that I didnt clean my plate as normal and did not request a doggie bag, oh well. It was actually a waste of food but I knew that if I brought it home it could be trouble.
  24. Amy - that is exactly what happened to me. I went to Disneyland the week before surgery and ate my way thru the place- and lost two pounds! Snappy - good luck, we are starting out at just about the same place (and have the same weight loss goal) and so you should know that it has been a wonderful 4 weeks for me. I was banded 10/08 and am headed to the dr today for my post op check up so I will have an official update on weight loss today. You will do fine tomorrow and you will wonder why you waited to do this - I sure did. Sometimes I even wonder if he really put the band in because I feel no pain at all and just like I did before, except better because of the food choices that I am making. Keep in touch - since we have a similar journey ahead we could be weight loss buddies!
