  1. Look under settings and then Surgery information. Fill that in, and I think that does it.

    Mirrors and pictures

I get hiding from the camera, but I'm part of the generation that LOVEs having my picture taken. I may not be a fan of the photo but I like it anyway. I've read that before pictures are really important so that you can look back later and see where you've come from. Definitely stop hiding and embrace it! Once you've lost all the weight you'll regret not having those pictures to compare.

    My Endoscopy Day x....x

My endoscopy was uneventful (June 26th). I had to pee in a cup which I was not prepared for, and I had just gone to the bathroom. I got gowned and put in a bed, IV'd with just saline and I was chilling for about 45 minutes to an hour before I got taken back and I was in the scope room for about 5 minutes while they put the teeth guard un my mouth and adjusted me to lay against a lift, the anesthisiologist came in and next thing I know the room was fuzzy and then I was out. I woke up about 30 minutes later in post op, and started asking my nurse a bunch of random weird questions about where she is from (S. Africa btw) and I regained full consciousness and full use of my apendages within minutes. I was able to walk to the restroom and use the toilet and then I changed back into my old clothes and was ready to go even though I had to sit around and wait for another 20 minutes before they would let me go. I felt weird in my stomach area for about 4 days afterwards and my hunger pains had changed, but now I am full recovered and it was a very boring 4 hours of my morning.

    Shoe size!?

I'm a super weird show size right now, I fit anywhere from a 10 (sneakers) to an 11W (all other shoes!), which makes it difficult to find new AND cute shoes. I'm definitely looking forward to the possibility of shrinking down to a normal size 10 shoe, the selection is definitely better. Guess someone else will get to take advantage of my barely worn but lovely shoes. I think as frugal as we are in other areas of our life we all deserve a splurge and why not on our feet?

    Accidental Mushies Recipe!

Oh man, I LOVE spaghetti squash! I made actual spaghetti with it and it was more delicious than real spaghetti with noodles!!! I definitely want to experiment with squash more.
  8. I'm pre-op and for dinner last night I made BBQ chicken and roasted carrots and zucchinis for dinner, and here's where the accidental mushies came in...I overcooked the zucchini. (I ate all my veggies and only half my chicken) I cut and quartered 4 zucchini sprayed them with olive oil, sprinkled garlic salt and onion powder, cooked at 400 degrees for 30 minutes and out came the most delicious MUSHY zucchinis ever. Good news was that it made plenty for 2 with leftovers, so that's quite a few meals post op. So if anyone is looking for an awesome and easy mushy recipe, there you go. Any other great mushy or soft food recipes out there anyone want to share? I'm trying to make a mental cookbook for when my time comes! Hoping for next month!

If you are asking for advice...

I'm HOPEFULLY about a month from surgery and I know that I have seen that same questions about a hundred times (I'm looking at you protein posts) since I joined this site in April and each time at least 1 or 2 vets will still step in and answer and that is greatly appreciated!! I like all the others that posted in here greatly appreciate the vets for sticking around and answering everyones repeated questions with patience and honesty. I like the no nonsense responses because we don't have time for babying, those days are over. Babying ourselves for years is how we got to this point! So again...THANK YOU!!

    Endoscopy.

Everyone does not get one. I had to get one and others have for different reasons, but they are definitely not required for all patients.
  11. Had my scope yesterday, everything went fine even though my insides didn't feel quite right, I imagine they weren't too happy with a tube being shoved through them and being biopsied. Results on July 9, cross your fingers no more H. Pylori!

My tummy felt weird for many days afterwards. No pain at all, just weird, and I feel like my hunger pains have changed. But Im starting to feel normal the last 2 days.

    Endoscopy.

Your husband does sound funny! That was pretty much the same procedure for me. My BP was up at first, I think I was more nervous than I expected to be, but a lot of the people who were near me were actually patients of my Surg as well so I had someone to talk to for a couple minutes after I woke up. That nap was great I wanted to take some home with me.

    What is Onederland?!

    Thanks!! I appreciate the clarification!

    Endoscopy.

I have a scope with a biopsy on Thursday (26th)! Man those are expensive!! How did yours go?
  15. I've actually seen some strange but interesting flavors at Ross of all places! Definitely check out your local Smart and Final.

    Outpatients? No overnight stay

I haven't had my surgery yet, but my Surgeon does it all outpatient, unless there are complications. So I will be in and out in a few hours. I'm pretty sure the post op and discharge will take longer than the actual surgery.

    That's weird?!

What is the strangest, weirdest, or most unexpected thing to happen to you after having the sleeve? I'm looking forward to reading about peoples experiences. No such thing as TMI here either!

    That's weird?!

Weird cravings, that will be interesting. Maybe that means you're missing a specific Vitamin and that is your body trying to get it?
  19. MistyAnnMoon829

    That's weird?!

That sounds weird! Have you tried Gas-x before bed? Or something to give it before it forms. I'm a big tummy sleeper so that would be lame.

    That's weird?!

Hey more of a sex drive, nice perk! I hope that happens to me. My lack of interest is a part of what messed up my marriage. (Just separated from my wife of almost 6 years) Buttcheeks...lol I think to fully understand I just need to experience it. Congrats on your engagement!!!!

    That's weird?!

I just read it! That sounds like a struggle. Hope you are intolerable to the bad stuff and love the good stuff!
  22. Went in yesterday for my pre-endo appt and according to the surg as long as the H pylori is gone we are good to submit the rest of the papers to UHC. I love my office, I was in and out in about 15 minutes. ONly sucky thing, they moved my endo to 6 AM, oy vey. At least I took the day off.

Get in and get it over with.....then the rest of the day is yours to eat something and rest up.

    TOM and Cravings!

I want to start off by saying that this is easily my favorite of all the forums! The questions asked and answered in here are AMAZING! So thank you ladies for all being so open and honest and non judgemental of each other! Especially since there are plenty of people out there who judge us already. I'm pre-op and it's my TOM so I am bingeing a little (ok, a lot) and I was wondering...Post-op what are the best ways you counter your TOM cravings?! Mostly I want chocolate or sweets or greasy food and I know that is a little tough for awhile (read a looooooooooong time) after VSG.
  24. MistyAnnMoon829

    TOM and Cravings!

That sounds so yummy! I'll file that away for post op treats.
