  3. Too many factors control if your loss is fast or slow. I’m 5’5” High weight 254 current weight 133. My weight loss was fast. Six months is not the norm. Size 4 pants – Small/medium shirts.
  4. My honeymoon was over at three months out. I had a stall. It was that moment when I realized much of WLS is the work I put into it. Years out, the scale is no longer a motivator. Life is normal. All the things listed in the article are habit for me.
  5. Congrats on 90 down! I’m years out. I had to dial in my weight loss calories and macros using my food app. If you are interested in how to dial it in, let me know. It will be specifically to where your body starts losing weight.
  6. You can call your surgeons office and discuss why he/she has given you this requirement.
  7. I was told by my team that a 15/20 pound gain is a expected occurrence years out but, it won’t happen to everyone. Anyone else’ hear about the dreaded 15/20 pound gain?????
  8. I fall on the side of I’m able to tolerate EVERYTHING, like almost feel normal. No nausea, no dumping, no food stuck, no intolerance. I‘m maintaining and five years out. I know how to keep my weight in range. I indulge within reason and live life. But, I know my weakness and must deal with them. Just because we can eat more and tolerate everything does not mean we have to overeat our calories and macros. Make a choice, Work at this life long or don’t be mindful and gain weight. You said “once that’s over am I back to square one with weight loss struggles??” Define what your struggles are and work on them. We are not all doomed to regain Keep an eye on the scale. Don’t let a small gain take off on you. If you gain weight get back on track.
  9. You can do this. Start today! Join the may weight loss challenge.
  10. I would love your feedback. Please give the date you had surgery and State or country you had the procedure done: June 2014 Idaho Questions for sleeves: Do you feel you were given enough information on this procedure pre op and post op? I had my pre op seminar. They were excellent in going over all the type of surgeries. The positives and down sides of each. My surgeon and I went over which surgeries would fit my medical issues best. Did they explain that you will still feel real and head hunger with any surgery procedure? Or tell you hunger go’s away? I was told real and head hunger would still happen. That it would be less than pre op. Did they give you clear instructions on how to work your plan? Yes, I had a pre op class, instructions in writing sent home, one on ones with my dietitian in the first months. Cooking class and a behavior change class. Was the psych evaluation just a hoop to jump through? Would you have benefited doing more therapy before surgery? It was just a hoop. Not much depth in the questions. It honestly felt like a step to release the surgeon from liability. I did some weight loss related counseling during the process it was helpful. Were your follow up appointments with your surgeons and dietician helpful? No I was weighed and told I was doing great and sent on my way. Three appointments the first year and one every year to track success rates. I stopped going my third year. Did you understand that you can gain weight back? Did they help with a list of instructions and things to do and not to do and to contact them if you had any issues? Yes, I was given the information that this is a tool and I had to do the work. If you had regained or other issues, did you contact your team and were they helpful? I contacted them about some diet issues. They were not helpful. They did not know how to address someone who had a higher fitness level. They would not go off the bariatric cookie cutter instructions. The result was I was not healthy, I burnt muscle and my blood sugar was low (type one diabetic)
  11. Sleeve is the most performed surgery. It’s the flavor of the month. I’m concerned if its being performed like a surgery mill. I would love your feedback. 12. Congrats on one year out! great work.
  13. 5 day pouch reset may be a good restart for some. Good advice. Some other things to think about. It doesn't adress the the mental side of staying on plan. It also may be too restrictive if you are years out, have extra sleeve space and are trying to trouble shoot hunger, you may want to try other options. some do keto. Intermittent fasting, vegan. It may be trial and error to find what works for each of us. Trouble shooting extra sleeve space. I eat dense Protein and other foods on my plan. I eat as much veggies as I want until full. I log to make sure I stay within my weight loss calorie and macros Years out weightloss calories may have to be dialed in specifically to the individual. 600 to 800 calories is not realistic for me years out. Maintenance phase is a different animal. Getting back into weight loss mode after a weight gain is not a one size fits all.

Years out 600 to 800 may not be realistic. Its not realistic for me personally. Calories macros are not same numbers for each of us. It can be dialed in specifically for an individual. Weight loss Is not as simple as a one size fits all.
  15. I'm sending you a private message; I don’t want to hijack the original posters conversation. Did you get the one I sent??? Look at the top right of your screen to open it.
  16. only my opinion, I would use a scale in your first months. After you learn portion sizes, calories/macros, and real food plan, you can rely less on a scale. My fitnesspal or baritastic. Food logging has been eye opening and the best tool to get me to goal and maintaining. There are bariatric websites for recipes. Freeze leftovers in small portions for easy quick meals.
  17. After WLS, I Gain A Little Weight When…… I go on vacation and eat what I want and don’t weigh myself. Now that I’m years out, the weight gain is fast and its slow to get back off.
  18. We are adults, we make our own food choices. We get to decide how strict or lax we want to be. Make sure your choices won’t slow or stop your weight loss. Your first months will be your best loss. Your weight loss will slow down as you progress. Take advantage of your first year, decide right now how you want to work your plan. Be mindful of slider foods and foods that trigger you. Some can have a Hershey’s kiss and stop. Others can’t stop. Once you add sugars, extra carbs and calories into your diet you crave them more and they cause hunger. My preference is healthy options for sweet and salty for cravings. Dannon light n fit Greek yogurt. (many flavors) I dip strawberries in sugar free cholate syrup. Sugar free popsicles in the summer. Quest bar on occasion. I’m maintaining. I indulge within reason.
  19. Hi newbie, Regain is not one simple answer for people that experience it. Have compassion. Learn from the stories and experiences of everyone here. For people reading this thread and are new or researching surgery. Regain does not happen to all of us. follow this link to positive outcomes for a balanced perspective of weight loss surgery. https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/423992-what-you-had-no-surgery-complications/?tab=comments#comment-4758950 Have you had your pre op class yet? Surgery is only a tool. You must do the work. This is not the easy way out. Surgery restriction alone will not keep you successful long term.
  20. I guess I should have been more specific. You have reposted the same question about your regain situation. Two threads of the same post with several people giving advice. Here is the link to the first time you posted this question. https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/425456-gastric-sleeve-revision/?tab=comments#comment-4777993
  21. I love the shirt! How did it go? How was navigating the race structure/set up? All your hard work and seeing how strong you truly are inside and out is an amazing feeling. Congrats on your race. Mine went fine. Still recovering a bit.

  23. You posted on may 13th Many gave advice on your thread titled “overeating after gastric sleeve” I hate the work failed. You are struggling with the disease of obesity. No need to beat yourself down for having a disease....Right? Many of us have different risk factors and issues to overcome. Surgery does not change are old behaviors. If you are struggling with staying on plan for two days, you may want to find a counselor or therapist to help you battle the mental side of weight loss. Many gave advice on diet, stretching, and staying on plan. So, I won’t give you information you already have. I do understand how emotional it is to have regain. You’re not alone.
  24. With the sleeve, I was told to expect to lose 65% of my excess body weight. I didn’t care if my loss was slow or fast. I just wanted to be healthy. you cannot control your age, sex, hormones, genes, medical issues, complications, medications, illness etc. These will be factors in the amount and speed of weight loss. You can control how you work your plan. Weigh and Log your food, keep within your calories/macros, hydrate and exercise. I reached goal of 140 in six months. This is not the norm. I’m five years out and maintain in the 130’s. I was more excited when I got under 200.
