  1. I had my sleeve surgery Jan 14, compared to others only lost 100lbs so already felt like a failure, now in the last 8 mths have put on 20lbs and just don't know where to start to head back in the right direction. I feel so alone and depressed but know I don't want to go back to my pre surgery weight. Is this my fault - absolutely it is.. Although I still have great restriction I sometimes don't eat the right foods and thus weight gain.. Any advise on a good starting point to get back on track would be most appreciated.. Many thanks

    Feel like such a failure...

@ You poor thing it's hard enough the first 6 mths after surgery to deal with the changes let alone having someone verbally abuse you - totally not acceptable!!! Don't feel you are alone cause you're not... The support on this site is amazing. I don't tolerate unacceptable behavior and if it was me would say I am done and move on but that's me I'm afraid???? Feel free to pm anytime. Just remember you did this surgery for you, yes it gets rough and things get hard and some days you feel like a failure and you feel you may never feel normal again but believe me the sun does shine through....

OMG, how do I do it?

Thank you for the replies very much appreciated... I think deep down I know what I need to do... Stop the grazing, snacking and convenient 'naughty' food give myself a kick in the butt and go back to basics. I think getting my pre and post op notes out and doing a re-read sounds like a great idea....

OMG, how do I do it?

Hi everyone, I don't post a lot but I do love to read everyone's input. I had my sleeve surgery back in Jan '14 so 2.5 years out. To date I have lost 100lbs but still need another 65 to be considered "normal". Some old habits have creeped back in and I am finding it hard to get back on track. How does one kickstart things again? what kind of menu do/should I be following to make things move in the right direction. I am currently eating between 1200-1400. Some input would be great.
  6. Hi all, Can people give me an idea how much and what they were eating (Good and bad) at 4 months, I know our tums are all different
  7. Today I mark 1 yr from having sleeve surgery, down 102lbs. I know without the surgery I wouldn't be were I am today. My journey hasn't been easy first 5 mths I was totally miserable and really ill - suffered kidney failure due to a toxic reaction to nexium and suffered gerd really bad. Never had gerd in my life even now still suffer a little, no heartburn or indigestion just a lump in the throat. I don't count calories and some days still don't hit my Protein and liquid goals but I try ????. Eating out can sometimes be hard as I feel I still don't eat like a normal person - still much less... I sometimes have regret for having the surgery but these days it's just a thought and I move on... I am happy where I am, I don't have a goal i just take one day at a time and if I don't loose another pound so be it, life will go on....
  8. I have days at 10.5 mths where I just don't follow the rules. What I mean is I find it really hard to get in all my protein, average is about 45grms - don't do shakes I get so tired thinking about what to eat. I am ok with liquids. Does anyone else's have a hard time following the rules??? To date I have lost 100lbs...

Is TOO much protein a concern?

@@MissMac, I am 11 mths out and still struggle to get 60grns per day - try to only have real food no shakes. Can you pls give me examples for bfast, lunch and dinner based on 20grms - it would be a great help - thanks
  10. Can any long term sleevers tell me if the uncomfortable stomach feeling when eating gets better over time, say 12 mths out??? Some days at 10.5 mths out eating 2 pieces of deli meat and a slice of cheese for brekky makes me get that feeling, replies grateful

    Vets question

I guess this is a question for people further out than me, I am a week short of 11 mths, 100lbs down (probably should have been more!!) but does anyone have kind of off days. Some days I feel blah can't put my finger on why but just not feeling well. The only thing I tend to notice more now is how my stomach feels maybe I am just over thinking things....

    Stomach acid

This might sound like a dumb question but does anyone know when the stomach after having the sleeve starts to only produce enough acid for our little tummies, or perhaps it just keeps producing at normal rate??? I still have a little reflux at 10 mths, never had it prior just in my throat...
  13. Hi all, haven't been on here for a while, 10 mths for me today and things have improved greatly... I am planning on traveling overseas in January and am a little apprehensive - I will be 12 mths but scared if something goes wrong. Has anybody travelled overseas a year post op and everything ran smooth??? Thanks

    Some advice needed....

    Deleted, sorry posted it unfinished...

    Some advice needed..

I am now at 10.5 mths and although for me things have improved almost 100% (had issues for the first 5 mths) I still feel my journey is not what I was expecting. When did people realise they could eat more??? I still have days where I want to eat but end up eating like a bird!!! I still don't feel I eat like a 'normal' person - never feel satisfied.... Does one get to the stage where they can eat and not feel uncomfortable, some days even eating 2 pieces of sliced turkey and a cheese stick is enough. How long does it take for you to notice that your stomach has relaxed?? Thanks to all for their advice... Ps Reflux - I never get heartburn or indigestion but the lump in my throat but seems to settle when I eat, anyone else find this???

    Traveling overseas

@@Kindle thank you so much for the welcome back. I kind of stopped posting as I felt like was being a pest and besides on another site someone was just plain nasty, thought no had a hard enough time with the sleeve don't need that from anyone - it's wonderful what a couple months can do to make you feel better

    Beverages

My surgeon was fine with drinking anything with carbonation, he said try it it feels okay then you can drink it. My sleeve is fine with it, I did wait 6 mths and tend to only consume on the weekends..
  18. Well i guess the first place is that i got onto the scales today and have officially lost 100lbs :-) Sure this isnt an easy journey and for the first 5 mths just had that many complications and such regret. Today i still have a small amount of regret but its getting better, i cant wait for my sleeve to relax so i can eat just a little more than a bird!! I have been very lucky in that i can eat what ever i want and do, dont want to live my life telling my self what i cant have. Sure i am not perfect some days especially the weekends very rarely get in my Protein or liquids but will keep trying.... For those who are having a miserable time i feel for you, i too have been there and its not fun but it does get better, sure i still have days were i feel ordinary and tired but they arent as often as they were. Moral of my story, take each day as it is and realise you can only move forward cause you cant turn back :-)

    Where to begin?

@@4JesusFit there is only 2 people who know about my surgery - my mum and aunty. I didnt feel that what i was doing had anything to do with anyone. My reason for my lack of eating if anyone asks is that i have digestive issues and better to eat a little at a time more often rather than alot - the truth kind of!!. Dont feel singled out just brush it off and know you did is for you and only you..... this is your life and you want to be happy with who you are :-)
  20. I have said it before and i will say it again, where this sleeve is concerned i feel like such an idiot. I read how everyone listens to the body and i really dont have a clue!! Can someone tell me when they know that the body is finishing loosing weight? I dont want to be skinny just comfortable....i guess it also goes for maintaining how does one manage thaf???

    When do you know?

Thanks all for the replies @@CowgirlJane, Unhappysleever = regret for having the sleeve. For the first 5 mths I just had one complication after another, kidney failure first then constant nausea 24/7 and really bad reflux which I never had before it was like why did I do this when apart from being overweight had no other health issues, have to say when I got to about the 6 mth mark things improved - I still have some regret but have learned it was my decision just live with it and move on... These are my stats although guess they could be better but we are all different SW 309 CW 214 WL 95 - I am 1 week short of being 8 mths...
  23. I am a week short of 8 mths and some days i still feel tired abit kind of blah. Today is one of those days just feel tired, is anyone else this far out feel the same?? I eat between 1000-1200 calories, 40-60grms of Protein and between 50-64ozs of Water. I think its more cause its the weekend and i just dont follow my usual food and drink routine. During the week i am good on the weekend so so...
