  1. When I first started reading the posts on the forums I saw that a whole lot of people had 1 day, 2 day, 1 week, 2 week pre op liquid diets. This made me feel horrible and sorry for myself because I had to do a 4 week pre op. But ..... Given that my first 2 weeks is coming to an end and I am moving from my high Protein, low carb, low fat diet to week 1 of liquids, I am thankful for the slow integration into the change in eating habits. I am down 13.8 lbs in 14 days and I feel AWESOME! My head hunger is much less, I'm off caffeine and sugar, I'm not craving anything. I now "get" why my doctor has us do this. To get my eating habits in line, to detox my body, to be prepared for my new life. I sort of feel bad for people who have a very short pre op because I feel like they are being "thrown into the fire" so to speak. My advice ... start changing your eating habits NOW to prepare yourself, lose weight before surgery. Good luck to all! I have 2 weeks and 5 days to go!
  2. There are some good surgeons in Mexico and the US. There are some really unsafe surgeons in Mexico and the US. There is prejudice because when you hear "Mexico" you think someone will be operated on in an unsafe environment - there have been lots of horror stories. I'm going to LIMAARP, Dr. Liza Pompa - she operates a centre of excellence endorsed by the U.S. I'm paying dearly for it but I'm ok with that. I also investigated and connected with past patients to get feedback - it has ALL been positive. I'm comfortable with my decision. Do your homework. The good ones aren't inexpensive ... for a reason!
  3. Congrats! You will be able to get up with that new baby in the morning and let mommy sleep in!

  21. I work with a girl that is a size 2-4. She is always on a diet and watches what she eats. BUT she has body image issues just like us. She also has cellulite and hates her saddle bags. Is she beautiful? Yes she is, inside and out, just like all of us.
