extremely nervous, May 28th Surgery Mexico
I'm from Canada. I'm going to see Dr. Pompa at Weight Loss Forever in TJ Mexico. I"ve talked to about 6 people who have gone to her, a few of them are nurses and everyone has glowing reviews. I'm not nervous about my choice at all. My surgery is scheduled for June 30. Note - the surgeon name on the site for Dr. Pompa is Liza Gonzales.

cheated on my pre op diet
I like that your doctor got really honest with you about it because really, he's right! The reason we are all in this mess is basically because we don't control what we eat (may be other factors that contribute). The sleeve is a "tool" so if we eat our faces off now and don't change our habits, we will just gain weight after the sleeve. True story! That would just be gross and a waste of everyone's time. We need to GET WITH IT AND GET REAL!

Headaches?
My counsellor at WLF said they want us to eat plan, greek yogurt - if we need to add vanilla (a drop for baking) to it that makes it yummy or spices (eg. Epicure spice dip mixes) or even add in some crystal light powder to flavour it. even greek yogurt with vanilla already in it has stuff we should probably never eat. It's all just a new life ....

Headaches?
I drink (drank!) a lot of caffinated drinks (mostly coffee/tea). So, in anticipation of my surgery I weened myself off of caffeine. I drink decaf tea now and I am also increasing my Water intake to 2L / day. Drinking the water helped flush out the toxins so if you are stopping caffeine, drink water like crazy! It really helps!

Frequently Asked Questions
This is excellent and I liked that you say "when in doubt, ask your surgeon". It's really important for everyone to understand that all people are different and you can't expect the same experience that someone else has.

Wondering
I plan on working. my whole pre-op diet is one month .... hopefully it goes ok! I'm trying right now to increase my Water intake. I'm going to the bathroom a lot. I've also got myself off caffeine. If anyone is trying to get off caffeine, increase your water intake to at least 5 bottles of water a day and that really helps with the headaches.

Annoyed...
I've only told 2 of my friends. My BFF is being supportive, we both struggle with our weight. My other friend that I work with is skinny and she thinks I just need to deal with my "emotional" issues. She is against it and keeps being negative. I regret telling her. I need support right now, I've made my decision.

What is a typical pre-op diet and how long does it last?
I have yoyo dieted forever but I did lose 60 lbs and kept it off for 7 years! Some of the things I did were to keep my mind and hands busy. I walked, walked, walked. I knit, read, sewed, got out of the house so I wasn't sitting around bored. Do things that keep your hands busy. If your hands are busy you will be less tempted to eat.

Pre-op diet starts tomorrow!
My pre-op diet starts June 1. 2 weeks of high protein, low carb (strict food list), 1 week full liquids, 1 week clear liquids.

Things I won't miss...
For me .... Wearing Black ALL THE TIME Frustration that all I can wear are lycra pants because jeans etc don't fit Feeling like the fattest person in every room, place .... Feeling like people judge me when I eat Not being able to wear a bra comfortably Thighs rubbing Not being able to cross my legs Feeling ugly and fat Wearing summer clothes sweating all the time Hate the thought of putting on my bathing suit Being depressed because I gained all my weight back that I lost and kept off for 7 years!!!!!!! What I love .... That my hubby loves me regardless! My surgery is June 30 and I CAN'T WAIT!!!
