Needing lots of support
Girl, you don't need advice, you had the strength to get out of a relationship that would have been very miserable for you. That may be the toughest thing you will ever do! Good on you! You go girl!

June sleevers, check-in!
Hi all, I"m 5 days post op. First 2 days were rough. lots of gas pain but now i'm good. I can sit up fine on my own, get in/out of bed. I'm tolerating clears well. no issues. no pain. My incisions are itchy but that's it. I get tired but I haven't even been out a week yet so that's normal. I'm pretty happy!

Ok this is bugging me
That whole ordeal sounds like "fly by night". If I had of gone in and the scale was broken that would have been it for me. Lots of red flags there.

WL During 2 Week Pre-Op
My first 2 weeks were a high Protein, low carb, low fat food diet with a strict foot list. I lost 13 lbs. The next week was a "full" liquid diet and I lost another 7 lbs. I am on my final week of pre op diet and I am allowed "clear" liquids. So far I have dropped 1 lb in 3 days for a total of 21 lbs.

Terrified
Hi, I hear you, I too questioned whether this was too drastic. I also have hyopthyroidism and take pills every day. I also take Iron pills (common for a lot of women). I gain weight when I eat TOO MUCH food, not because of my thyroid. When I eat properly I can lose weight and maintain. My issue is with food, I love to eat. This is the one option for me that is a tool I will have for a lifetime. It will keep me in check.

Plexus Slim
I've tried it, didn't work for me.

Why is food ALWAYS involved?!
This is a real challenge. I work in HR and we are trying to promote employee wellness by ordering veggies and fruit instead of Cookies and muffins. It's a culture change that has to happen. Most people just choose the high car, high sugar because its easy and everyone likes it. Even our food vendor tried to introduce healthy Snacks and people would only buy the crap so they had to give up, can't waste the money on fruit if it sits and rots. It is an epidemic!

June 2014 Sleevers Check In!
6 more days for us June 30 sleevers! This week is def the hardest week for pre op clear fluids. Ugh.

Clear liquid protein
I am in my last week of pre op on a strict clear liquid diet. I am using "Fruit Blast" - mango flavour - by 4EverFit. Its a powder but it is considered a clear Protein.

Pre-op diet
If only I could have milk in my tea I would be a happy girl. Last week of a 4 week pre op. No milk allowed. just Clear liquids.

June 30th Surgery Date
I can't believe we are in the single digits now. Wow! At first the time was crawling by and now I just feel like this week will be over before we know it! Starting clears today. I'm down 20 lbs so far. My facilitator said that I may see a stall this week but I'm ok with that. My goal was to lose 20 lbs pre op and I made it!

June 30th Surgery Date
Denise, congrats! I found the 2 weeks pre-op high Protein, low carb/low fat diet much harder than the liquid diet. Trying to preare that food and stay within the limits of the 3 parts was very difficult. The liquid diet is easy compared to that. On June 22 I will be done 3 weeks of pre op diet so far. Today I am 18.8 lbs down. Next week I am on Clear liquids. Still protein but a non-dairy protein. No milk or any dairy. Hoping to lose 20 lbs before surgery which seems totally attainable! Congrats to everyone for sticking with it. Mr Robb, weird that you don't have any pre op diet but lucky you. Hope its not hard after to make the sudden change! Like Denise says, we are in the single digits now - just 9 days left!

Too much advice and opinions for newbies?
Excellent advice! When I first came to the site I seemed to read a lot of posts about complications after surgery and some of it scared me but really, if you look hard you will see that the majority of people don't have complications. I have connected with people from this site and from the company I am going through for the surgery and so far, none of those people have had any complications. I am taking their advice and listening to my facilitator. If you are worried about something with your diet, complications look to your doctor for help, we are not medical professionals and even though people would like to share their experiences your doctor is the person you should be asking help from.

2 Week Post Op Protein Diet........My Experience, 5 Days in
Awesome job! I am the same, no hunger. I would say our blood sugar is level and that's why we are not having the incredible swings in hunger etc. Yesterday we had a pot luck lunch at work and I didn't eat anything. I "wanted" to eat, but I wasn't hungry. It didn't bother me too much - like I said, it was "want" vs. "need". LOL

Pre-Op day 3-HEADACHE day 3!
Day 3 for me on my preop diet was bad too. Then suddenly I woke up with a spring in my step. I think it may be the body detoxing all the bad stuff out!

Pre-Op day 3-HEADACHE day 3!
Yes it is caffeine withdrawals!! I had a migraine the first 3 days. Day 4 I felt so much better and no headache. I am 6 weeks post ops and still have not had caffeine. Doing great! I weened myself off caffeine a month ago to prepare. I drank tons of water, this really helps. I haven't had caffeine since then and I'm sleeping like a rock!

freak out
I've read some info about bad experiences too and it kind of makes me nervous because its a pretty big surgery BUT there are so many more people who have had positive experiences. Don't let a few bad experiences kill your excitement and hope!
