Protein Shots
OH another thing - I found that they taste better -- well, not better, but I'm able to get them down when they are cold. When room temp, they all remind me of bad cold medicine!!

How often do you see the dr. after surgery?
I saw my surgeon the day after surgery to have my drain removed, my PCP at two weeks post-op for some blood work and then my surgeon and NUT at 6 weeks out. My next appt isn't until December (6 months out) for an EGD and follow up. I was just wondering how often everyone else sees their doctors. I am thinking of making another appt with my PCP to check my blood #s, as I was borderline diabetic before surgery and am still on meds for it and now that I am down 50lbs, I am wondering if I still need to be taking it.

Protein Shots
None of them are great tasting, but I can handle the fruit punch one. But since you can't drink a lot at once after surgery, those Protein shots get the protein needed down. I also drank the Muscle Milk Pro Series 40 -- they are 40g protein in 14 oz. and the flavors are awesome. Mint Choc is my fave!

How's your blood pressure since surgery?
My BP isn't high but I am on a beta blocker due to my heart being in afib and one week after surgery, my dosage had to be lowered because it was too low. A month later I was off my high cholestrol med and diabetes pill too.

myfitnesspal.com question
I'm new to myfitnesspal.com and in the nutrition area it shows a chart of the percentage of carbs, Protein and fat intake per day -- I see that my goals say 50% carbs, 30% fat and 20% protein ---- but should those percentages be different for those of us who have been sleeved??

How could you POSSIBLY be exercising right now?
Wow, I guess I better get moving more! I'm 8 weeks out and have been just walking and using the bands for exercises until this week. I just started using an eliptical machine today in addition to the bands and began using the ab lounge to help with the crunches. That may not sound like a lot but it's more than what I did before wls and my heart goes in and out of afib, so I don't do too much that can bring an episode on.

Using Straws - if drink is 0 cal, why can't u
I usually don't drink out of straws but this past weekend I bought some new protein shakes and drank them with a straw and then went out and had had two glasses of water out of a straw and by that evening, I was miserable. I've never had gas soo bad, and for a few hours too... I was miserable and learned my lesson, no more straws for me!!!

diabetics
My surgeon has me staying on the pills until 6 weeks post op because he says it will help in the stomach healing process. I had bloodwork done at 4 weeks post op and levels were within normal range

Struggling :(
Have you tried the Muscle Milk Pro Series? it has 40g of protein, so more than just the regular ones and they have it in vanilla, chocolate and mint chocolate!! The mint one is my fave and I don't think I could stomach the powder shakes so these ready to drink ones are fabulous!!

Struggling :(
My doctor said it was ok to chew sugarfree gum, so I have Trident always with me for that need to chew!

June Gastric Sleevers Out there
I'm kind of like you, Reddrobin, I don't have the full feeling, so I am relying on measuring my food. I was sleeved on 6/5 and still on pureed foods, which is cottage cheese, refried Beans and yogurt and for a treat, I have a vanilla ice cream from McDs minus the cone, once in a while. I also get atleast a 40g Protein shake down too.
-
When did you start taking vitamins?
I started at the 2nd week out.

Any Az sleevers?
Is this board still alive? How is everyone doing? I have the sleeve done 6/5/14 and feeling great! I had a wonderful doctor, Dr. Orris from the LWIA, outpatient. Not once did I experience any pain. I'm near Queen Creek.

Traveling to Brisbane, need protein shakes..
Does Unjury have one that is unflavored? One that I can just add to yogurt or something? I really don't want to get into a habit of using a blender all the time and can't drink just shaken milk or Water added to powder type shakes, but if I can mask it into cottage cheese or yogurt without it tasting raunchy, I'd do it!

Traveling to Brisbane, need protein shakes..
Do any of the local grocery or health stores carry the ready to drink shakes? I really don't want to take anything over there but was hoping to find some while I am there. Out here I can find some Muscle Milk shakes at our local 7-11 type stores and gas station mini marts. My dr. gave me the okay to start the soft foods stage while there but I'd like to know there's a back up if needed.

When eating, air/bloating in stomach?
I'm at 4 1/2 weeks out I'm kind of having the same issue - although it's not as I eat or drink, but afterwards, I can feel the air rising up to a burp and that can last up to an hour. No real pain though so I'm wondering if it's acid reflux or intaking too much air as I eat/drink?

Post surgery bowel movements?
I was consistantly running to the toilet until I got onto pureed foods. Now I'm wondering when I'm going to go. I've tried stool softeners and that hasn't worked well. And when I've gone, it's like a lot of work for what comes out. I'm thinking of trying Milk of Magnesia as well. ugh
