    Going back to work

I had gastric and took 6 weeks off felt good at 6 weeks but I think 8 would've been great for me personally ( I got used to sleeping late)
  3. "Holy Cow" I thought it was just me. It happens also when I first wake up, or after my first sips of liquid for the day and also through out the day when I drink or eat. if anyone can find answers to this that would be great. It can be embarrassing at times, especially when there is no way to control it. I had RNY and at 7weeks post.

    Pain/pressure

Nani, yes the pain on the left side is more than any other area and it will last for about 3 weeks ( at least mine did,I hope yours is not too long) what helped me is the pain med at night and sleeping on a recliner and place a pillow on your left side. When you wake up get up slowly and place your hand on your left side for a little support. I also slept with a heating pad on it the second week ( check with you dr first) and that seemed to help. I am 5 weeks post RNY and the pain is almost all gone it's just still sore when I get up in the morning. Lastly as painful as it sounds try and walk even if in your home but walk to your comfort level, walking helps the muscle heal. Good luck sweetie and hope it gets better soon.

    Does anyone eat pizza?

What about "thin crust?" does that go down easier for gastric patients ? Before my surgery that's what I liked vs the thick because it's crispy but was wondering if I'll ever be able to eat thin crust again???

    Costco shake prices?

For the premier protein shakes at SAMs how do they taste? Which flavor is the best? Thanks
  9. I had RNY bypass on 04/17 because I was diabetic and on diabetic Rx 3x's a day, my PCP was ready to put me on insulin. The day after my surgery I was taken off of my diabetic Rx, the next 3 weeks I still check my sugar levels with my meter and all my numbers have been under 100. Well on week 4 they have gone up in the range of 120-135?????????? go figure. I looked it up on the internet and searched why they would go up if I only had 1 meal for the day and it consisted of 2oz of broiled fish and 1 cheese stick for the day. Keep in mind I am in week 4 for my foods. What i found out is the body goes into starvation mode if you go long periods of time w/out any food and your brain tells the Liver (?) to dump glucose into your system for energy. Now keep in mind I am no nurse or Dr. but I am thinking "what?????" I am told if not hungry don't eat,and so I don't. I see my PCP the last week of this month and yes I have a lot of questions on this. Has any one else ever experienced this before? My NUT advised me not to drink protein shakes they would rather me eat protein vs drink it but I KNOW I am not getting enough protein for cals for the day. My NUT told me my body has enough protein to last me 3 months after the surgery. So I am confused.
  10. Thank you friends for your feedback on the bar BBQ sauces, I ordered the "guys" online tonight , let's see how it is. Good evening to all.
  11. Any one know of a good bar b Que sauce that's not loaded down with sugar? I wish A1 was low in sugar.
  12. Amy, what kind of crackers are you having with the hummus? I have hummus in the house but didn't know what to eat it with since there are no carbs at my 3 weeks 2 days post op. Thanks
