Josefina1210 reacted to snowkitten in Confession
Ok i have to confess, I'm 8mo post op and I've completely and utterly fallen off the food wagon. I wont even go into details of how badly I've fallen off. I don't think i even have a good excuse. I got frustrated with how slow I've lost, felt like it was impossible to get over this hump (I'm at 278, which is about the weight I've been most of my life) and already felt like a failure so i gave up.
A lil background info... I've been fat my entire life. i can honestly say i dont ever remember being under 250 (even at age 11). Most of my adult life I was about 260-270. About 3 years ago i ballooned up 100lbs. With this surgery I lost most of that, but i put on a pair of my old "fat pants" (size 26 from when I was this weight) and they fit snugly.... What the heck size did i wear pre-op?? It all just felt useless, like i would never get smaller then this.
No I'm not looking for someone to make me feel better, nor am i looking to be reamed up the butt (I'm quite capable of giving myself a stellar guilt trip thanks), I just needed to confess my stupidity so i didn't pretend it didn't happen.
I'm hoping that putting it out there will force me to be accountable for how i change things.
Has anyone else failed and been able to pick yourself back up?

I weigh everything. 4oz is my limit. Then, get my Water and Vitamins in. I am hungry however but if I eat more than the 4oz I pay for it almost immediately with heartburn and stomach discomfort. Sleeved 4/13/15. Day 7 of 11 days of puréed Protein only. Soft foods begin 4/27/15. Looking forward to that but I will still use my kitchen scale for every meal.

Ugh! Your mom just doesn't understand, but I'm sure she thinks she's helping because she cares. Your rant has inspired me though. I have a friend who isn't necessarily against me having the surgery, but she thinks it's too much work. She was asking me questions about all the requirements (the sleep study, the monthly appointments, the psych evaluation, etc.) and she goes "wouldn't it just be easier to exercise and eat right?" I wanted to choke her! If it was that easy, I would have done it already! Some people just don't get it!!!

OKay I have a rant as I'm preparing for my upcoming surgery. I told my mom about the surgery well because I didn't think it was fair to going into surgery and not tell your parents. Maybe I was wrong. Ever since I told her about it she has been driving me crazy. I live in Florida, she in Illinois. She calls and the conversation always goes to the surgery. I have been on my weight management for a couple months and actually meet the last time Friday. She always says "are you still eating your six small meals? Are you losing weight? Why don't you just keep doing that? OMG I WANT TO SCREAM!!!!! So I was adopted and my mom, her sister, my cousins are all small. All have weighed 130 or less pounds their whole life. Small hands wear size 4 1/2 and 5 rings, etc. when I was in high school I weighed top weight 150. Now I'm 5'6" and I was in gymnastics and cheer. According to my mom 150 was too much and by the time I graduated senior year and having my mom make my food for me and that's all I could eat I weighed 123. I wish I was 150 and maybe just maybe I will return to that weight. I'm going to have this surgery....but why does she drive me so crazy about it? I can't lose weight on a diet. I have been on everyone out there and have spent millions on diets. Get over it Mom. Okay rant over.......

Have been away on a mini vacation for a few days and didn't think or worry about the process while gone. Came back home yesterday and the first thing I did this morning was call the doctor's office and talk to the coordinator to see how things were progressing. You said, "I have your approval!!" I was NOT expecting those words out of her mouth. There had been some delays in getting stuff into their office and I didn't even know they had received it, much less sent it to insurance. I'm an emotional wreck right now!! I'm scheduled for August 13 and have to go back to work on the 18. She said I should be fine since I'll be in in-service meetings and sitting at my desk most of the time. I sure hope she's right.
I know my dear sweet dad in heaven had a hand in this happening for me, as well as the Lord above.

My weigh in is this Friday. If you are worried about the weight gain, just look in the packet they gave you and call the nutritionist and ask about it.

I imagine he's going to fix it while doing the sleeve surgery. I've read many posts on that.

I'm 5 months into the sleeve process. Dr. Brebbia is also my surgeon. He is really approachable. I'm very happy with him and his entire team. I'm a little concerned because while I've been trying to eat well and exercise, I think I may have gained a little weight since my last weigh in (it's Thursday). I'm afraid that this will keep me from getting approved, or that they'll recommend that I start the 6 months over, you know?

Hey! I go to Washington Hospital Center too. I'm getting the sleeve with Dr. Brebbia. My monthly nutritionist meetings are $34 out of pocket which isn't too bad. Dr. Brebbia, is very personable and easy to talk to. I wish I had more meetings with him along the way because when he did my endoscopy (a requirement for the surgery) I saw that he'd found a hiatal hernia, and I want to talk to him about what we're going to do about it. Other than that everyone has been very friendly and willing to help.

I have a similar issue. I work in a doctors office and I know my manager is anti wls. She told this other girl who was having the sxs, "I hope something happens and you can't get the surgery. Why don't you just join a gym?" My manager is known for being really fake and gossiping about people in the ofice. She's never asked me why I am taking so much PTO for appointments. Maybe she knows, I haven't told a lot of people. I do want to think of something to say I'm doing when I take off for my sxs. If I say it's for vacation, I'm not guarenteed to get off.
