May bubble got busted a while ago
I started this journey last April. Knowing full well that my hubs insurance did not cover WLS. I quit smoking. I had a sleep study and was diagnosed with sleep apnea, and now use a c-pap. I went on a 6 month PCP supervised diet, which was just completed in time for my new insurance to be in effect. Someone I work with told me UHC will require ANOTHER 6 month PCP supervised diet once I have the insurance, beginning in January. WHY?? How does that make sense? The doctor kept record, he kept notes. I kept a food journal. I weighed in each month without fail. WTF?!! Am I worrying for no reason? I contacted the bariatric hospital who works directly with my insurance, and they said that since I did all this (already) I would only need 3 additional appts to be submitted for approval. But my heart is broken thinking I will have to start back at square one. That could damage my attitude beyond repair. Anyone out there know???

Catheter problems.
I'm thinking all I would have to do is cough sneeze or laugh, and I'd pee, no problem!

Smoking- passive
My hubs and I quit the same day together, a year ago, in preparation for my surgery. I wanted to be dang sure I was nicotine free!
-
Smoking- passive
I would say, no. Your blood or urine will be checked for nicotine though, I am pretty sure. Nicotine can hinder your recovery.

Discouraged Already
wow. You are doing amazing! A pound a day lost...GONE! A POUND A DAY!! Say it out loud. A POUND A DAY!!! Why are you discouraged? Just think... if you could do that every day you'd disappear before the year was over. (Sorry, I had to have a little fun with it). Don't be discouraged, you are doing great.

New to fifties group
Merry Christmas everyone! I'm here!! Still waiting in the wings. I had my last Dr's appt (for the required 6 month Dr supervised diet) last week. All other tests are done. My insurance kicks in on January 1. I've been in touch with the insurance coordinator at the bariatric hospital (somehow we became friends on FB!!) and she told me to call and get started on January 2nd. I will then only have 3 appointments needed, then it'll be submitted for insurance approval, which I have been informed, will approve based on bmi of 41. Congrats to all of you "losers", and happiest of holidays to everyone! Sherrie

Massive Headache , could I be dehydrated?
OH!! That's right!!! I am so stupid! Disregard my earlier post. Baby that sleeve, and follow Dr's orders. (banging my head on the wall right now.........I am so sorry I made that stupid suggestion!)

Massive Headache , could I be dehydrated?
I had my very first migraine headache in my late 40's. I get them very rarely. It may be a cluster headache also. Try the benedryl or excedrin migraine.

Today I am fat!
how about fluffy? Fluffy is a kinder gentler version of "Fat", although I understand you are using the clinical term. ") Congrats on being just fat. I wish I was just fat, too. lol

How much time off from work?
I plan to use short term disability, and use as much time off as my Dr's will allow!

Lying about what type of surgery..
Yeah, no one's business. It's actually illegal for an employer to ask. It's a surgery. Period.

I'm not mourning food anymore
I want that!!! You hear the negatives,....that people fail, and regain what they lost. I have had that thrown in my face almost daily by someone. People watch too much TV or read about one person who regained, or ate more then they did prior to surgery. I find those stories hard to believe. Maybe because I WANT this. Not because I'm being forced into something I don't want. You know? Like how kids don't appreciate the things we give them, but appreciate it more if they get if for themselves? That's my theory. Anyway........I really want that!!

Storebought meatballs?
@@laurenella82 I was just thinking of grinding up some beef and pork, I wasn't thinking about the carb content in chicken. But it seems that any commercially made meatball has some carbs in it. Maybe a small amount wouldn't be such a big deal though, I just want to follow program to the letter. meat, then veges, then carbs, you know? Just preparing my list in my head. I have a ways to go yet before surgery. (I think. I;ll know more about a date in January)

Meds to dissolve potential gall stones
I read lots of stuff on the internet, especially lately. But I read on webmd that if a person has no symptoms of gallstones, then the gallbladder will be left in tact and meds will be given to dissolve potential gallstones during the rapid weightloss phase. Any truth to that?
