Hey everyone, I just wanted to tell you all that I can finally cross my legs!! It is a victory since my surgery and about a 23 pound weight loss. I use it to keep me motivated. I am dealing with hunger issues, real hunger versus mind hunger, but am dealing with it. Crossing my legs feels so good. My face looks thinner too. I am looking for all the little motivators I can find.

Ok so I didn't know what an nsv was until I read all of the threads. I was banded April 15 and have had a few nsv both before banding and after.
My capris from last summer don't fit at all.
I feel more inclined the wear dresses now and feel I look much better in them.
I had a co worker that sees me daily say how wonderful I looked and it made me glow.
My anxiety how lowered tremendously since the banding and losing weight.
    I'm a happy girl!!

mkcougar99 reacted to gowalking in Even in maintenance, you can find NSVs
A little background. I live in NYC and take mass transit everywhere as I don't own a car. So..some of my NSVs surround train and bus seats. Today, it was the metal benches at some of the stops on the PATH trains that run between NY and NJ.
I used to sit on the bench and put my workbag down on the seat next to me rather than on the floor. I'd move it of course if someone wanted to sit. Well now I realize I can fit both myself and my bag in the same space. I don't have to worry about moving it if someone wants the seat. I know it's a silly kind of NSV but it's one none the less and it's nice to be reminded even if the scale is pretty stable, that you can still have these nice moments.
Have a great Friday everyone. We're expecting a terrific weekend here in the Big Apple....sunny blue skies and warm temps. What more can you ask for? I think it's finally time to pull out the capri slacks I bought in Florida...lol.

Thanks everyone. I will be going next Thursday for the Fill. It is done under fluoroscope. First I meet at the office upstairs in the hospital and see the doctor and Nutritionist. Then they bring me downstairs to radiology and they do the fluoroscope fill. They only do the fluoroscope on the first fill. Then I leave and I'm all done. Should be an interesting experience.

Getting my first fill in 2 weeks. Had procedure done on April 15. Can't wait to have it filled. The wait is the worst. I have been eating clean and have lost 35 lbs. I also go to the gym 3-4 days a week and walk about 2.5 miles each time. On weekends take puppy for a walk with hubby. Once I get filled hopefully the weight will come off quicker. Ugh the dreaded wait is the worst..
What can I expect to feel like or be like after my first fill??? Please tell me your adventures so I can be prepared!!! ????

mkcougar99 reacted to BrantS1976 in Finally broke into triple digits - down 101 lbs after 6.5 months
So I stepped on the scale this morning and the following was staring back at me.

I have now lost 101 pounds and finally passed the 100 lbs lost mark about 6.5 months after surgery. I have been staring at the scale impatiently for the better part of the past week waiting for this and today was the day. I keep reminding myself that I originally thought it might take a year to get to this point and it bested that by 5.5 months. As an added bonus at my six month appointment I was told I had lost 96 pounds overall, but had lost 102 pounds of fat, so I actually gained some muscle. In addition to that my measurements showed a loss of six inches from my neck and 12 inches from my waist. Surgery definitely is the tool that makes the difference.

Got Gas X strips today at pharmacy and not tmi but a huge burp after I had one. A week is just the right amount of time I think. My dr said I could have it done on a Thursday and go back on Monday. Not as a teacher I couldn't go back.. Good Luck to you..

mkcougar99 reacted to enjoythetime in I can't Believe it! Is this REALLTY Happening for Me?
I just returned from seeing my surgeon and found out that I've EXCEED MY GOAL!!! The tears just won't stop flowing! I'm setting here in disbelief that this is actually happening. One year ago I was setting in this very chair with tears flowing because I was so miserably overweight that I could barely bend over to tie my shoes and even though I knew my surgery was a GO I sat here with that hopeless feeling wondering if this plastic little ring was really going to help me. As I reflect on the past 11 months it all just seems so unreal and hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that I'm where I am today. I go in every month to see my Dr. so of I course I knew I was 6lbs away from goal but to see those numbers and to hear someone say you made it, you passed it, is life changing!!!
For anyone who's thinking about this surgery, or is in a rut wondering why you had the surgery, it's ALL worth it!!! The 2 week pre-op (or whatever your doctor orders), the discomfort from surgery, the 6 weeks of bandster hell because you're sick of liquids and mushies, the starving all the time until your first fill, the balancing act of how much Fluid is enough, I'm in the green zone or the yellow or red, It's ALL worth it!
I NEVER truly thought when I had this surgery this would happen for me the way it has. I knew I was determined and that failure wasn't an option but I never thought the outcome would look like this!
My life has changed in so many ways. First and foremost, I'm healthy!!! I can walk up a flight of stairs without being winded, play sports with my kids, buy whatever I want in the stores and no longer have to wonder if it comes in my size, I don't have to worry about flying and praying the seat belt fits around me. I'm so much happier, the small things in life just seem to make it all worth while and before I missed so many of them because I was so unhappy and self concious. One of the greatest feelings is not feeling like an embarassement to my husband and kids (not that they ever made me think I was), but when your mom is 34 years old and is as wide as she is tall, it's hard to be proud of that I'm sure.
Don't get me wrong it's not all sunshine and roses, but it is what you make it and if you put 100% into it you're going to get a good return on your investment!
Now it's time to move onto the next phase, life long maintenance which scares the hell out of me to be quite honest!!!! I know however that this time I've made a lifestyle change, unlike with past diets, where when once you've reached your goal you think you're "done" so you start raiding the pantry because "you've earned it", this time I know it's all about balance and doing things I know I can LIVE WITH AND WITHOUT for the REST OF MY LIFE.
This group is an amazing source or support and information!!! Thank you!

Thought I would check in. Everything is still going awesome... maybe better! Had my 1 year anniversary late Feb; my wife's is the end of this month (she had gastric bypass). We are down a combined 242 pounds (Me 360 to 225, her 260 to 153)!!! We workout daily lifting/cardio, plus bike rides or hikes on Saturday and/or Sunday.
Here is a recent comparison of our awesome new US!
