Good to know! Here's hoping my new addiction is exercise. Or sex. Sex would be good!

New Here
Welcome! So glad you're here. I share your goal of no longer fussing about my diabetes and high BP (plus sleep apnea). Lurked for quite a while before joining too

Houston surgeon on the news
My surgeon said the lap band was falling out of favor with most doctors due to the required fills, unimpressive results and possibility of infection. That's just his opinion. I know lots of people on here just love theirs and that's ok too.

Looking for buddies/support :)
Although I haven't seen many teenagers, there's plenty of people under 30 here. Still, we're all going through the same thing and there's tons of support available. You might try some of the veggie Snacks and "chips" available everywhere: https://www.google.com/search?q=veggie+snack+chips&client=firefox-a&hs=7VS&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=sb&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=uIzXU5adO5LfoATq7AE&ved=0CF4QsAQ&biw=1280&bih=907 Corn-nuts were my carb snack of choice and I found a good substitute: dry roasted edamame (soybeans). Crunchy, salty, low calorie and full of Protein

Hello my first post :)
Welcome! This is a great place to get support and learn from those who have gone through it already.

Psychological insecurity
Are you sure you're not a mind reader? Because I'm feeling just the same as you about my fat shield. 100 extra lbs and a sarcastic attitude kept everyone away so I couldn't get hurt. But I finally got to the point where my "protection" was literally killing me and it had to go! Please keep working with your therapist on this. A great therapist has helped me tremendously with this issue and I hope yours will help you too! Message me if you'd like to talk

16 Weeks Post Op
Good for you!

Oooooh we're halfway there, ooooh oh living on a prayer!
Education is the key! By the time my surgeon set the surgery date, I only had 1 or 2 questions for him. Everything else was covered by the pre-op classes, nutritionist, program nurses, etc. @@rainbowducks You have great taste in music!

1 appointment down 2 to go. A little motivation for today;
"Never ending cycle of appointments" about sums it up!

Does anyone regret it?
Ok this is the first I've heard about high divorce rates post-surgery. Is there some actual data on this?

FOOD FUNERAL
Starting my 2 week pre-op diet tomorrow, so last weekend I held my food funerals. The weird thing was, I would be sooo looking forward to eating a particular favorite and then just a few bites into it, it just didn't taste that great anymore. Maybe I'm already changing?

July 29 surgery

That's damn impressive!
