    My surgeon was just arrested!

Seriously, my surgeon was booked for reckless driving and driving under the influence after crashing into a house. The news link is below, along with surveilance video of the crash. I'm a pre-op patient awaiting insurance approval and now this happens. He just did my EGD last week! At first I couldn't believe it, but now I'm fearful and angry. He does have 2 partners that will probably take me on as a patient, but I hope it doesn't delay my pending surgery. http://www.kake.com/home/headlines/Doctor-arrested-after-crashing-into-house-265602731.html
  2. I'm on the gastric bypass Facebook page daily - here not so much, maybe once a week to change my weight ticker lol
  3. My program suggests 2 Optisource (buy at Walgreens) twice daily, plus 500 mg calcium citrate plus D (the pills you can get at any drugstore or Target/Walmart, but the chewables at bariatricadvantage.com) I have had labs drawn at 1 month, 2 months and 3 months. Everything normal except low hemoglobin (iron) which was a problem for me before surgery. Hope this helps!

    Advice needed

How old are your kids? Adult aged, I assume? When I first started thinking about gastric bypass, it seemed too extreme and scary for me. Then I thought "is it any more scary than losing my feet to diabetes, or dying of a heart attack, or having to take high BP and high cholesterol meds forever?" Eventually you will get to the point where the bad effects of your weight will seem much worse than the possible bad effects of surgery. Your kids are probably worried and concerned about you, and rightfully so. If they are adult aged, you might bring them to a surgery orientation or your next surgeon appointment to educate them on why you feel this is necessary for your health. Hope that helps!

    Hemoroids?

Right there with you! I can't eat apple peel (as James suggested above) so my doctor said to take Colace 100 mg softgels (available to any Wal-Mart or drugstore). 2 to 4 a day. Non-stimulant laxative, just makes it easier to go.

    3 weeks Post-Op Question

I had a stall at 3-4 weeks. No big deal! And I agree with Ivanova8: hide the damn scale Breaking it out once a week is plenty.

If you love it so much, why don't you MARRY it!?!?

I love it dry roasted, but not steamed...go figure!

Some unexpected NSVs have me LOLing in public. You?

Caution: adult situations to follow. I went through some boxes of old clothes and found a Victoria's Secret hot pink teddy from my thinner days. Surprised my husband by wearing it to bed one night and he couldn't stop complimenting me. I finally told him to stop talking and start "getting busy" LOL. We both had a great time that night!

    I made it through surgery!

    Hope your recovery continues smoothly!
  13. Yes, it's difficult but not impossible to squeeze in 64 oz. of Fluid after RNY. Sipping every 5 minutes really helps. And yes, sugar free, very low calorie drinks count as Water

    Excess skin - warning photos

Thanks for the photos - they really help the newbies like me. We ALL get jiggly and saggy as we get older, irregardless of any weight loss along the way. You truly do look awesome and you probably feel sooo much better!

    Pre Op Liquid Diet Blues

Hang in there! It's rough - I was on a shake only diet for 2 weeks (couldn't stand any more broth and jello!). Drinking Water helped me, as well as walking around the block when that "crap, I'm gonna lose my mind" feeling hit. Hope that helps.

    Surgery

    Yippee!
  21. I had RNY on 8/11 and went home 8/13. Only problem was severe nausea (no pain at all). Two days later I had bright red blood in stools (gross, I know, sorry!) and went to the ER. Was admitted for acute hemorrhage but did NOT require a transfusion. They kept me 2 days and I went home feeling good. I am just exhausted unless sitting or lying down. Did anyone else have this complication and how long til you recovered fully?
  22. So bypass is scheduled for 8/11. Yesterday got pre-registered at the hospital and final blood work drawn. Not looking forward to Sunday - colon prep, ya know Thanks to all the awesome people here at BariatricPal (plus my pre-op program), I feel like I'm the most educated patient I can be. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers - I will do the same for you.
