Glad to see you are still rocking the gym Tink. I really need to update my routine on here. I don't do most anything on this routine anymore if you can believe that! I have simplified a lot and focused on strength versus size/ aesthetics. I looked better last year, but I am pulling 65 more pounds on the deadlift, 75 more on squats, and about the same with bench press.

Update I'm still using about 75% of BigViffer's workout routines, with a few things I've added in on my own. The one thing that he said that I'll swear by, is that post workout pump. Its real people its freaking real.

Scheduled for my sleeve on Tuesday. 2 week pre op getting old. I'm ready to not have a starving feeling. Lost 22 lbs so far, so that's cool.
Ive been practicing with recipes and Protein powders.
So far I have frozen about 2 gallons of homemade Bone Broth, Tomato basil Soup and black bean soup. Made the best lemon ginger sf popsicles. Yummy.

    Hi Guys!
I had my sleeve on March 28th. I had to start my pre-op liquid diet on March 10th. From March 10th until March 28th I lost 26 lbs. Since my surgery i have lost an additional 49 lbs making my total weight loss 75 lbs. One area that I have been struggling with is my energy level. I get exhausted pretty easily now. Does anyone else struggle with this too? I am getting about 90 to 100 grams of Protein daily but i am thinking i may need more. Let me know your thoughts!
For those of you that are thinking of getting the sleeve...i dont regret it for a second!!! Best thing i ever did!
Hope everyone is doing well. Happy PRIDE!!!!🌈🌈🌈🌈
    Shawn

I am 14 days out, and the lack of Protein is worrisome in your post. Gatorade G2 electrolytes turned me around day 3, in terms of energy most of all. We are all so different from each other, and my early posts I am in a very bizarre state of mind ...there have to be some trial and error solutions....for instance...it was all about the apple juice in the beginning at the hospital , and my instincts about how unhealthy modern apple juice is made...I made my own decision to sub the Gatorade for it. I also don't like Water without a squirt of something. I know underlying our fears on this sub group are problems with our bowels. I was terrified. The diarrhea for me meant SWITCHING THE ANTIBIOTIC. Cefalex is a disaster for me, it I can tolerate most others. The cefalaex was free so I was lazy to switch and it was a 4 day diarrhea disaster. I take a pill called "Pure" which is Fiber and I was back to new normal in 3 days. Just some thoughts

@Joe in Texas we all make mistakes, it is just the rationalization that we need to learn from them. I wish you all the best on your newest journey.

Hello, I guess this is my introduction to the forum, please point me in the right way if I'm in the wrong place.
I'm a 46 Y/O guy, about to go in for a revision to my RNY that was done a while back (exact date when I remember...)
My new date is this coming Tuesday, May 30th, 2017.
My first surgery was somewhat successful, but I guess I got tired of the restrictions and requirements after a while, and I started cheating more and more in my diet.
I dropped down to around 300 lbs after starting at 618, my heaviest.
A few years ago I had an accident, where I was left in a lot of pain, and since I didn't have insurance I left it go untreated, and that was the beginning of my weight gain, to where I'm now, 504 lbs as of last Monday.
Well, here I am, not as excited as the first time, and not scared either, more of a feeling of "whatever".
Now, don't get me wrong, I will make it work, it's not as fun being fat and 46, like it was being fat and 30.
Anyway, I'm an open book, ask away if you have any Q's, and I'm looking fwd to learning from ya'lls successes and mistakes, especially now that I found a forum dedicated to guy's issues, because my first time around, it was mostly ladies, with very few guys, and most of those guys were young.
    Best Regards.

Can't believe how quickly this year is flying by. It's finally starting to warm up and am enjoying getting out for hikes and walks. Camping week next month and I can't wait. This was the best decision of my life and the only regret I have is not having done it sooner.
Hope everyone's doin well and having a great weekend !

Hi all. So I have been looking at and reading over this forum for a couple months now. When graduated high school I was around 330, biggest was 348. I lost down to about 270 but have gained most of that back now at 320. I am 26 and have been contemplating possibly being sleeved but have tons of questions and the fear of something going wrong(I know this is with any surgery). So here are some of my questions:
    1. I know you have to take Vitamins after surgery, but how long do you have to take them? Just a certain amount of time or the rest if your life?
    2. I don't have a big issue with sweets.. My thing is I love real food, like home cooking. So with that being said, I'm not a big veggie eater. I can tolerate a few things but not many. Is there anyone else like this? If so what is the advice you gave gotten from your nutritionist?
    3. How long before you were able to go back to work? I don't have a strainious job but am on my feet just a bout all day. Minimal lifting.
    4. How long before you get back into the gym?
    5. Do you know of anyone who has had the surgery with long term results?(5+ years)
sorry for such a long initial post. Just so many questions before taking that leap. I have an aunt(11/2105)and a cousin(2/16)who have both had the surgery. Both have seemed to do great as far as weight loss goes. Both had the bypass surgery. My aunt, who is mid 50's, has seemed to have more colds than normal since the surgery but my cousin has seemed to do great. Any an feedback is greatly appreciated.

    1. Suppliments will have to be taken for the rest of your life.
    2. I love real food as well. That probably won't change a lot. But now I like quality food rather than quantity! We eat lots of great foods. Just not nearly as much! Some veggies are good to eat, but your main focus will be on protiens!!
    3. I was out of work for 6 weeks but I have a VERY strenuous job that requires standing and lifting heavy things for 12 hours straight. I have heard of folks going back to work at a desk job in as little as 2 weeks. Just be very honest with your doctor and staff and they will be able to recommend the appropriate time needed. Do NOT go back to work unail the doctor says it's OK.
    4. I am out 5 months and still haven't hit a gym. But then again, I never did in the first place. I have lost 111 pounds so far. But I also weighed nearly 100 pounds more than you. I would think they will not let you lift anything until 6 weeks anyway.
    5. I don't know anyone personally who has had the sleeve done for that long but I do know some folks that had the bypass done about 8 years ago and they are doing great! Hope this helps. Good luck. BTW - I am glad you are deciding to do this while you are young. I waited until I was 49. Not a great idea, wish I would have had this done 10 years ago or earlier.

No one seems to post here, and there is mention of another password protected forum ...what's up with this? Where is everybody? I've searched as much of the organization of this app as I can handle (great and necessary app, terrible non-intuitive functionality) can't find it.

Thanks, I get sleeved tomorrow! I am excited and freaked out at the same time. Mostly because I have had a cold the last few days and it seems to have gone into my chest now. Hoping they still go through with it. Also, I did take some before pics.
I can't wait until the after! I've already lost 15lbs from the 10 day liquid diet.

@VSG_Man_Vs_Food My recommendations are an extra pair or underwear, and the helpful suggestion to never trust a fart. I also felt that using GasEx strips were very helpful in decreasing the discomfort associated with the gas used during the surgery. Good Luck on you journey!

Most certainly, your tastes and tolerance change. Since my sleeve, I actually crave bacon, something I abhorred before my surgery. I loved ice cream before and now my body and my GI tract do not agree with it, especially chocolate ice cream.

I'm confused - I think this is the LGBT group and I'm desperate for information to calm me down about fears that just aren't easy to bring up. I am a GAY MAN, I am versatile, but being on the bottom, well it's very important, and I can't get answers about the issues regarding anal sex after surgery. It's not just the obvious, it's fears of elimination patterns being so inconsistent (ahem) and gassy, there have to be gay men reading this who can comment. I'm a guy who added significant Fiber to his diet on a regular basis so as to be having healthy and well formed bowel movements.

I think you get it and I'll stop TMI right now - but this is my only real fear going in 3 weeks for surgery. I'm 38 BMI, very active lifestyle, I even like my body generally speaking - except for the belly where I look about 6 months pregnant all the time. It's all right there. I just want to communicate with gay men in this "position" .....ahem....us "situation".

A friend sent me this older article and I read it to be polite. Turned out to be a very good one! The one part that resonated the most with me was this little excerpt:
Summed it up nicely for me. I don't go to the gym anymore because I want to look better in a shirt, it's become far more personal. All in all, I'd say it's a good read. Give a glance before your next trip to the gym and the weight machines.
