My husband and I researched WLS 10 years. We knew what to expect, what the risks were, and what our risks were if we had not had the surgery. I hope anyone who has not had surgery yet makes sure they can handle this. It is not for everyone. We both had hernias. We both were prepared not to eat pizza and french fries the rest of our lives. We gave up cola and alcohol. We are smiling at each other today, over 4 months later, because the sleeve surgery has exceeded our expectations. I am so sorry for anyone who has had these extreme problems, but I have also seen threads where someone is very sick and in two days they post how much better they are feeling or had an issue resolved by their surgeon. I would do everything in my power to follow strict eating and drinking guidelines, even if it meant eating yogurt 3 times a day because nothing is worse than being ill. WLS is not for everyone. You will still want pizza. If you are depressed you will still be depressed. If you drink and party, you will still want to drink and party. I wish better days for everyone who is feeling sick. Linda

Im not upset with you at all for posting this. I am a week pre op and i need to hear that its not going to all be unicorns and butterflies and then hear this is normal because I am sure I will be going through the same thing and I dont want to feel like Im in this alone. So I thank you miss for venting where I can read and prepare for a month or two of hardship. I am sure of it though that in the end it will all feel like a distant dream and I will be happy about it.
I wish you a speedy recovery and I hope that you start feeling the sunshine on your face and your beauty within come to the surface leaving you with no more regrets just a wonderful life and future to enjoy! HUGS!

As others have said -- this will pass.
At 5 days post op I had internal bleeding and almost died. Rushed to the hospital through a major snow storm and had emergency surgery.
I regretted having WLS for about 1 month.
However after losing lots of weight, getting off all my meds and diabetes gone, I'm so glad I did this. I actually would do this again even if I knew about the second surgery beforehand.
Chin up ... Things will get better.

Thank you so much for the encouraging words and for all of your replies. I have to remind myself all of these issues are temporary and there IS a light at the end of this tunnel. My son (he's 5) has been my anchor, when I'm feeling down I look at him and remind myself why I did this and remind myself I will hopefully be here much longer for him! Again I'm sorry for the negativity, it was just one of those days. Thanks again for the words of encouragement!

Ahhh "The Easy Way Out" syndrome.
Yeah, tell them they need to go on a 2 week liquid diet, followed up by removal of 80% of their stomach, recover from surgery, start working out, figuring out how to eat with 80% of their stomach all while addressing food addiction and emotional problems.
Yeah, it's the easy way out...
Or maybe respond with something like, "That moment when you realize you thought you had a real friend then realize they judge a decision you made to better and prolong your life...CRUSHED."

I go into surgery tomorrow. And I have to say THANK YOU to all the people that have posted a rant or a complaint or a complication because it has prepared me. Everyone is different but I like to hear both sides. Some people need support, some just need some advise, some need someone to just listen. So I say rant away, believe me that it helps a lot of people to know what others are going through. The hair loss, the gas pain, the walking to make it better, all those things I learned from people ranting. I go into surgery tomorrow, and I will probably rant about something who knows. I know I will be doing my rant here because I am a single mom and I don't want to bother or scare my kids with my rants so this forum of "sleeved stranger friends" is where I'd be doing all my ranting...So everyone...please keep me in your prayers, and send good vibes my way...tomorrow I will be sleeved and most likely will become a RANTER...LOL

It's my great pleasure girl! We are all literally in this weight loss battle together. While too much of the rest of the world snarkilly looks down it's nose and advises you to "get some damned discipline and push away from the table!", we in this community know well there's a lot more to the obesity problem than a simple lack of discipline. We've been, and or are, there! But unlike all those who haven't yet found their way, we are the warriors who have chosen to take a stand and do something about our problem. That makes us very unique people. Gratz again on your decision to fight rather than to just lay down and, quite literally, die. My own surgery is in several weeks as well. I'm doing a pre op diet now, because I need to for longer due to my 54 BMI. I hope to lose 30lbs between now and then, and have already lost 13 lbs towards that end. I WILL achieve my goal.
