I work in a hospital and check in patients for surgery. I love to meet patients of my surgeon before they go to surgery. I always show them before pictures and they can never believe it. We have to weigh everyone day of surgery and I love to tell them "are you ready to never see this number again?" Gets them all so excited. Needless to say I tell everyone that's interested. Several people have approached me about it and it makes me feel good to help and encourage somebody. There will always be negativity but the good will always outweigh the bad.

@re14768 don't be discouraged...this is normal for many...what we forget is that we just had MAJOR surgery... you only see a few marks on the outside, but inside I LOT of changes took place...
drink your fluids, most important... try walking a little bit...every little bit helps...
you will get there and you won't even remember how you feel now!
also with the pain you are experiencing...how long has it been going on? You need to talk with your doctor about it if it has been days...good luck

I was sleeved 4/10 and my recovery has been great, I was one of those that was able to walk and do things right away Thank God but everyone is different and you have to listen to your body. As for the stomach stretch I thought the same thing when I noticed I could drink a lot more than I did at the beginning and also I could eat more than the 1/4 oz yogurt or cottage cheese. I was freaking out a little also because the first few days I was dropping 2 pounds a day and now it's like a pound every 2 days or 3 days and I'm hardly eating. But I know all this is supposed to happen so as long as its coming off I'm happy. Stay strong and keep eating what you are supposed to be eating it will come off.

This is all very true. At one year out, I could eat one piece of pizza. It's thin crust from the same place every time. I will be 5 years out soon and I can still only eat one piece. I don't do it very often because I want to eat more, and I don't need pizza anyway.
I did gain back 15 lbs by making bad choices and it was very hard to take it back off. . It's a lot harder to lose later on. It's very important to stick to the Protein first and not eat in between meals.

Good Morning loves! So I hit my 1 year surgiversary 04/04/14. It's been one heck of a year but whoah have I grown. I feel like a new person. Not just physically but emotionally and mentally. I am more confident. More independent. More comfortable in my skin. All in all the best decision I've ever made. May we all continue to a healthier happier version of ourselves. I've attached a few shots from my modeling shoot I recently did. I'm a 33 year old mother of one. I have lost over 90 pounds. I'm not perfect but I am ME flaws and all.

My Sleeve Day is the day after y'all and I am really nervous but more excited than anything. I have been on my post op diet for 3 days. I hope this prepares us for life with the sleeve. I am just ready to get on with everthing, although my journey has been a fast one. I just realized today that 1 month ago I had my 1st consulatation and now in 2 weeks I'll have my dream. My insurance will only pay 25% after I spend 1 year on their supervised diet. Forget that, I have a hernia...getting it paid for and this little something on the side. I figure I spend $300 on food a month now, $135 of that can cover the financing of my part of the sleeve.

I had my sleeve done on Sept 30, 2013 in MX. It was a little rough at first but almost 7 months later I can't believe how normal I feel.
I did not weigh prior to surgery. Day of surgery 300lbs. Today 220!!!
I don't follow the rules as much as I should. I rarely have a shake. I try to get all my food from Protein. I rarely eat bread or past. I mostly eat meats and vegetables. I eat a sweet every night. I need to drink more Water. I drink alcohol about 2 to 3 times a month.
I probably could have lost more but honestly I am happy with my progress. My biggest concern was never eating the foods I like. I eat small portions if whatever I like. So loosing and eating what I want on occasion is success to me. My goal weight is 160 and I hope to get there by Sept.

I was sleeved April 15, 2014 and I was terrified all the way up until I woke up in the recovery room post-op. But I felt the fear and just kept moving thru the stages anyway.
Now, 5 days post-op I can say whole-heartedly that all my fears were unfounded.
The surgery is literally a blink of your eye, you go in they give you something to relax and the next thing you remember is waking up in recovery.
Recovery phase in the hospital is different for everybody but I believe that attitude is everything. Once you wake up shake the cobwebs off of you assess what your body is feeling. Ask for pain meds or nausea meds if you need them and then grab your IV pole and get to walking around the nurses station as quickly as your able. The quicker and more often you're up moving the better you will feel and the quicker you can move thru the phases needed to be discharged.
It is a major surgery, but one that thousands of people have gone thru and survived. And that almost all..even those who had complications...have said on this board that they would do again.
You've made the right decision. Now, feel the fear and do it anyway.
Good luck with your surgery! See you on the losing side!

    Lots of nsv this weekend.
Yesterday my husband and I ran/walked our first ever 5k. I finished at just over 50 minutes. My goal was under a hour and to not come in last. Succeeded on both. This had energy to go help clean out another room at my late father in laws house (we are doing a room at a time)., finish easter shopping including a last minute menu change and late night fighting at the grocery store. Then this morning had no problem standing outside with kids while they hunted easter eggs. And for the first in years I sat down and painted my own toe nails. I can't remember the last time I was able to reach them and not have to hold my breath to do it.

I don't know the feeling yet. Surgery scheduled for May 8th. But I want to participate in this thread:
"When you allow full body picture instead of hiding behind people"
I hate that. In all my pictures I'm always behind someone. I want to be CENTER and FRONT!!!!

I've been a little upset with my scale, but I'm about to focus on muscle instead. I was dead-set on getting to goal before I muscle up (head games, I know). But pics like this help put things into perspective. So, I think I'll throw out the number goal and start lifting ??
Pic: size 18 vs size 8!

Fearless is powerful- I have a beautiful friend that became a yoga instructor, has invited me several times to her small classes- I would love to go, but my mind would be in over drive- how bad do I look, how would I get in that pose in a graceful way-I would not find it relaxing at all-
Down the road - it excites me to go-
