All inclusive at 14 weeks post op...

Hi. Im 2 weeks post surgery and thinking alot about food... flavors and textures I miss. I have slowly been trying small bits (not bites) of grilled chickenor scrambled egg... etc. I also sooth my cravings with sugar-free popsicles. And I have no guilt about that. I have no pain...but occasional soreness. Lying awake this morning, thinking about food, I decided to jump up at 4:30 am and take a walk. I set a goal of 1.5 miles in 30 minutes... I almost met my goal... I finished in 31 minutes! I still may get a bite to eat, but, by getting up and walking prevented me from going "crazy" lol. Hang in there!! :-)

    Snacks post op? Food portions?

Hi there! Congrats on the weight loss. Way to go! Im sorry to hear about your moms health issues. Thats alot even without having just gone through your surgery. I hope maybe you have siblings that can help you out with her. Yeah, food can taste strange after surgery... and I dont know why. I have thrown ou t some stuff I thought I would enjoy... example a lemon sorbet. But..... im eating tons of sugar-free popsicles. They really sooth the stomach, melt and go down easy and a treat for the tongue. I chop them up and eat with a spoon from a bowl. Gas pains are normal and your system is getting back to normal slowly... it will take some time... perhaps a couple weeks to know for sure if its gonna be a fart or something more... almost always just a fart... but, be near a restroom just in case. Walking is very important and has huge benefits...will help you feel better.... but there is no reason you have to walk for one solid hour. Break it up in sections if you can. I am blessed to be able to visit disneyland... not going on attractions... just walking... find a bench to rest and people watch and walk a little more. When I break it up like that I probably walk 4 hrs for the day in small increments. I take Water and Protein drinks with me... but I ask the chefs for special meals like broth or refried Beans etc... the are happy to accomodate. Of course I am not a dr... but, a dr did prescribe the pain meds for you. You had major surgery. At 5 days out I was not "stretching" out the intervals... I am just at two weeks post surgery and am now starting to decrease the amount of meds... but, its really not "pain" as it is soreness. I am so excited for you as you brgin your new journey and wish the best for you!!

    pre-op jitters

I never fell asleep til after daybreak. I went for a long walk (very long for me) before sunrise and did not see a soul (perfect - cuz I would be too self- conscious). The air was brisk and sweet. The birds began a chorus that seemed to be my very own personal concerto. So thats about par for the course. Now I will nap all day. Thats not what I want. I will try but cant keep my eyes open. I just had a shake and will get a nap in

    Eating at Disney

I am in my pre-op liquid diet (surgery 4/11)... last week I dined with friends at Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel. I asked if I could speak to the Chef. He came to me three times during the evening and was very discreet and accommodating. He was willing to help in any way and served me a wonderful chicken stock Soup, a small salad with the exact ingredients that I had requested, and rounded out the meal with a lovely raspberry yogurt. All served with class and discretion. You can partner with the manager and/or chef at any of the Resort restaurants and they will do thier best to accommodate your dietary needs. I love Disney. Full disclosure I am a Cast Member... but Chef did not know that. The service he provided would have been excellent for anyone. So impressed. Have a great time.
  5. Hey- sorry for the topic matter but maybe someone else has the same question. Im experiencing a crazy amount of flatulence, cramps and contant urge to poop. Is this due to the Premier protien shakes, broth or salad...yogurt? Is it nerves or stress? Are there others that are having the same experiences? I guess it wouldnt freak me out as much if I knew it's normal. Will this increase post surgery?

    pre-op jitters

I still haven't slept since my original post several hours ago...its been like this for several nights now. So I got busy and did chores in the middle of the night. I did laundry, cleaned out a closet, and did the dishes. I thought it would keep my mind off food but it didnt. I ate some mixed veggies and diced potatoes. I feel guilty about it. But I also tried to practice eating slowly. I saw on another threaf about an app called "eating slowly" ... I think it will be a useful tool. Thanks for the support. Is this the same place I post my updates or should I go to a different forum?

    pre-op jitters

Oh thank you so much for your reply. Im lying here in bed trying to read each and every post as if its the last taco on earth. I cant sleep. So knowing there are others out there, right now, that understand makes all the difference.
  10. First post -took me an hour to get here (lol) So I have truly been excited about my upcoming surgery (6 days away April 11). It was a long time coming, but suddenly everything fell into place and the countdown is spinning fast. I put on a brave face for everyone and stay posive... especially around anyone that would love to sabotage my decision. However, I'm, I guess anxious. ..maybe a bit afraid. Not sure if its about the few hours before surgery that im scared of (fear of fear...if thats possible) or a fear of all of the life changes ahead. Like eating slowly. Hah! Ive never done that becore. Anyhow... im hoping that this app will help me through this
  11. I dont know how to "in box"
  12. This app is new to me and I am very confused on how to post, reply or direct message. I will try my best to lesrn cuz I think I will need it over the next fee dsys before my surgery. I had no idea that this many people are having this procedure done-- all over the country.
  13. Torani sugar-free salted caramel mixed with premier chocolate is good too
  14. Hi Chad- thank you for posting and sharing your story. I want you to know that you have inspired me so much. I think your honesty is courageous. I think that in many cases our loved ones are so fearful (of change) that they consciously or unconsciously try to sabotage our efforts to take control of managing our own health. Your boyfriends threat of leaving you made my blood boil, but he was likely striking out from fear. That being said - you deserve love, happiness and good health. If he stands in the way of that, you should re-evaluate your relationship and what your needs are not only now, but also in the future. I wish you all the best in your journey, both in life and in love! Keep posting. OH!! I almost forgot... my surgery is in 6 days so I will be on this blog alot... im a little nervous. Take care ~ Scott
