I am 25, and 295lbs and I am not really worried about it either. I really don't think the skin will be that bad, because if you think about it, it's not like skin will magically grow- You'll only have as much skin as you have right now. Even if it is bad, I'd rather have this skin at 155lbs than 295lbs

    OK, so here's the plan:
On a dark and starless night, in a deserted pasture, your hubby jumps her from behind and binds her arms behind her.
Next you and I hang her from a tree until she is ALMOST dead. We cut her down just before she takes her last breath. Now comes the good part---we cut her from gullet to groin, pour oil into her innards and set her on fire!!! The best part: We tie each of her limbs to a different horse and drive the horses forward. We leave your hubby to clean up while we go have a drink.
    Feel better?
Of course that is all nonsense, but if it sounds ridiculous to you, then what she said is just as ridiculous. That woman must have some god awful demons within.
Whenever someone hurts me as she did you, I say to them, "I'll pray for you". That's it. Nothing more. It gets the point across and really sinks in.
Every situation needs a hero. Let it be YOU. Rise above the nonsense and you'll be surprised just how wonderful you will feel. You'll walk away with your head held high and a smile on your face.
    Try it. You'll like it!

I have a sister-in-law who does things like that. It's not even personal. She literally has no filter.
Nobody pays any attention to her.
You need to ignore that person. Don't let her jack you up. She's just a hot mess.

That just reflects on HER. She is obviously lacking tact, manners, common sense, etc.... I wouldn't let a rude comment from a stupid person phase me. Truly, shake it off and let it go.

So I am feeling great about myself. Working out hard, eating what I am supposed to, no cheating, and thinking I am looking good after 3 months post op and down 50 lbs since surgery
AND THEN...... I just got back from a wake and my husband and I ran into someone and the first comments out of her mouth to my husband she says "You look great!" To Me "Gee you're fat!" REALLY????!!!! That is not okay.
I am not a mean person, I just do not have it in me but I wanted to say "Ya, I'm fat but you're ugly inside and out and I am losing weight! What are you going to do?" But I didn't.
I have not wanted to cry in a long time and I feel like I was kicked in the stomach. Why are people so mean and say things like that?
My husband says to let it go and ignore her and I am trying but darn it that hurt! Like I don't know I am fat!
I will overcome this but I'm mad!

maxcimax got a reaction from Amelie2016 in how long is the Gastric Sleeve surgery ?
Actual surgery itself was about 1 1/2 hrs because I had a Hiatal Hernia repair. I think that adds abut 30 mins. 3 hours must include everything you have to go thru from check-in time to being taken to your hospital room.
Good luck with your surgery. You will be really glad you did this.

What a jerk. I don't know where you live but here in the Dallas area there are WLS support groups. I find the one I go to very helpful. Hang in there. This is not an easy way to loose weight. I find carbs are an issue for me.

The science is still out on that one. The general medical consensus seems to be that, yes you CAN stretch your sleeve, but never back to anywhere near its original size. So it is still there, offering restriction. The trouble some people run into is eating "around" their sleeve by doing things like eating and drinking at the same time, drinking their calories, eating "slider" foods, or grazing throughout the day so their sleeve never has a chance to become completely full.

I have read a few times the sleeve failed, several times the sleeve needed adjusted. Don't use it as an excuse, but it may have happened to you. My after surgery specialist md says you still have to have more calories burned than you take in-with surgery or not. But he also has told me over and over again if I find I'm slipping or finding it coming back on he can help.
I agree start with the Liquid Protein diet and after a day or so see if your sleeve is back working.
We all believe you can get back on track and make it to your goal!

I agree with everything @@Inner Surfer Girl said. You need to go back to the basics and see if there is any chance that you can make the tool you have work for you. If it can't then you need to evaluate why that is and whether or not the results with RNY will be any different.

You are still asking for help so you haven't failed. Whether or not you fail to reach your goal YOU are not a failure.
If you gave up trying (which to me means you stopped following your program) what makes you think you would have more success with a bypass? When you hit a stall with the bypass, if you stop following your program, the same thing would happen unless you do something different.
I would suggest that you make an appointment with your NUT today to talk about your goals and go back to basics.
    Follow your program.
    Track your food.
    Avoid starches.
Reach your Protein and Fluid target every day.
Take your Vitamins and supplements as instructed.
    And, exercise.
You get to decide whether or not you are committed to losing weight.
I would also suggest you make an appointment with a counselor or therapist. See if the therapist who originally cleared you for surgery can see you or refer you to someone.
    You can do this!

You're not a failure. You want to do something about your excess weight and successfully did.
Try going back to basics. Journal your Protein, Water, exercise, food and quantities.
Measure your portions for the higher calorie items, eat slowly and chew each small bite many times.
Plus all of the other efforts you use to put in when you successfully lost that weight.
Stay positive. You can do it again!

Give them away. You need room for your new smaller clothes anyway. I kept one pair of size 22W pants. I'm wearing a 14 now. It feels good to get rid of them. I donated buckets of clothes to goodwill that were in good condition. Hopefully someone else can use them now.

I too have lost weight, given away the clothes and then regretted it when I had to rebuy the fat clothes. This time I feel differently. I am giving away anything that doesn't fit or I don't like. I am keeping 1 pair of pants as a reminder. I did not do this surgery to even entertain the idea of regaining the weight. I am over diet pills, diet books, diet gurus, home delivered diet food that tastes like crap. I am over it. I feel if I keep the old clothes I would be clinging to my old unhappy self. I am down 2 sizes in 2 months and it is only the beginning. My drawers are sorted by clothes I can wear now, the next size down and then clothes from my previous thinner life. It has been fun shopping in the back of my closet and reacquainting myself with my thinner clothing.

I would keep one garment, a lot of folks choose a pair of pants or jeans, that fit you at your heaviest. Keep those as a yardstick for the days when you feel you haven't made progress (we all have them). Then when you're at goal you can take photos of you fitting into one leg.

Your question comes up all the time, about as often as Sunday brunch. The consensus is "Get rid of them." My take on it is that keeping too-large clothes is tantamount to giving myself permission to regain weight.
Suggestion: See about arranging periodic clothing exchanges in conjunction with your practice's support group meeting. Otherwise, donate the good things to a non-profit that outfits underprivileged women who are entering the workforce (similar to Bottomless Closet in Manhattan). You may have an organization of any type that takes clothing donations.

    byebyefat,
I’m sorry. Your surgeon is completely out of line, to say the least. What a jerk! That would be absolutely unacceptable behavior even if you WERE losing at a disappointing rate…but you’re not!
You lost 20 lbs in six weeks since your surgery November 29?? That’s something to be proud of, and we’re all here celebrating with you, even if your surgeon is too rushed or disappointed to do so.
Regarding Constipation and vitamins: yes, if your surgeon won’t help, your regular doctor should, and can probably do a better job. At least, in terms of monitoring levels of things like Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, and Iron, your doctor should be best for that. The basics of constipation are getting enough fluids – are you? – and getting in some exercise, if you’re allowed (another thing to ask your primary care doctor). Also, Fiber can help with constipation. Now that you’re probably starting to eat a more varied diet again after getting the sleeve, you can focus on high-fiber foods (after protein), like vegetables and fruit and Beans and some whole grains and starchy vegetables like squash.
Don’t let the surgeon get to you, although of course it’s easier said than done. He shouldn’t be allowed to see patients!

Here is another one for you. I started at 449, went on the liquird pre-op diet, dropped down to 419 the day I had the sleeve and now I am at 402.. so in less then 30 days I lost almost 50 pounds.

I am so sorry you had to be subjected to that kind of abuse. There is absolutely no excuse for that kind of unprofessional behavior on your doctor's part. First and foremost we are each human beings and should be treated as such.
You are NOT a failure. Please don't let that Doctor derail your end goal. None of us loses at the same pace. Our individual loss rate is as unique as a fingerprint. Unfortunately yours seems ultra slow, and I wish there was a magic formula to speed things up. Just continue doing what you're doing and you will get there. I know, easier said than done, but don't give up on yourself.
When you get there, however long it takes, march right back to that doctor's office and demand a formal apology!
You deserve a healthy life and I believe you will get it,
