msshellg reacted to lsereno in What does your daily menu consist of?
3 years out. More than two years at goal.
Breakfast: Greek yogurt with fruit and a piece of whole wheat toast or two slices of low fat lunchmeat and a slice of whole wheat bread if I'm in a hurry. In the winter, I often have a Soy Latte and oatmeal (1/4 cup raw cooked with 3/4 cup water)
Lunch: Really varies, but includes a couple of ounces of firm Protein, a whole grain, and some veggies
Afternoon snack: Usually crackers or pretzels and maybe some fruit
Dinner: Same as lunch, but three ounces of Protein
After dinner snack: usually a couple tablespoons of Peanut Butter on two graham crackers.
A few times a week, I have cocktails and something sweet, such as candy, Cookies, or ice cream.
For Vitamins, it's two multi with Iron, one D, and six citrical daily and a B1 and sublingual B12 once per week.

msshellg got a reaction from audnmac8 in Where are all my April 23 surgery partners!
Hi everyone! I'm excited today because I had my pre- admission appointment today!! I got my body wash for my pre-surgery shower!! I meet with my doctor on Monday for my final appointment before my surgery and I'm on day 2 of my liver shrink diet!!!. I'm moving right along!
I have to admit that today I have reflected over my life and am asking myself how did I let myself get into this shape, this weight! I was very thin growing up, I've always had a big appetite. My step father always said that over eating would catch up with me and I guess it has. Now here I am, morbidly obese with bad knees!!! I should be in much worse shape, but God has allowed me to be more healthy than I should.
So now I'm looking for people to connect with who are going through this journey!,,
April 23 is right around the corner!!!

I'm 4 months out and I think I'm FINALLY getting it. What a struggle this has been. No more "one more bite" for me.

We do need to push each other!!! I need some motivation! Once you see the weight coming off and you start getting compliments it's easy to get complacent. I know I need a big kick in the booty to get back on track.

Hey everyone!!
How's it been? I've been feeling great, I lost a lot of weight but I've been in a long stall now. I know it's because of my eating choices. First I feel like I can eat much more than before, second I'm snacking a lot... The snack is always fruit but I'll eat some type of fruit 3-4 times a day. I'm becoming more drawn to foods I shouldn't have. Help!!!!!

Dr visit went great all labs were perfect. He said I was 10-15 pounds ahead of what he expected so that is even better news. He does want at least 20 mins of formal exercise 3-4 times weekly, not for weight loss but for strength and help with pain. He said pain is from body shifting from weight and nerve damage but hopefully might get better. I also loved his view point on the grouchiness, called me a snicker commercial.. And that is good thing... Body needs nutrition so feed it.. Good thing, not about comfort but about survival...pay attention to moods based on food... Might be new hunger clues. All in all happy Dr report!

Glad to see everyone still hanging in there. I've had a rough few weeks. I spent 3 days in the hospital with a bleeding ulcer. It was the worst thing I have ever experienced. I threw up blood every 15-20 minutes for 15 hours. Nobody knows why it occurred at 5.5 months. If it's going to happen, it usually shows up much earlier. So I'm on a bunch of new medicine. YUK.
The timing was also terrible because I had finally started to do some formal exercise. I was going to gym in the morning, and had even done a private yoga session to learn some things before I jumped into a class. Now 2 weeks later I just feel like I am making it through the day. I'm hoping to get back in the gym this week.
Anyone having an issue with their tailbone? Mine is unbearable. I can't sit in the same position very long. I was miserable last night at the movies and fidgeted the entire time. The chiro and surgeon said there is not much I can do except try to strengthen my core. My tailbone shifted to balance all the excess weight for so many years and now it's out of place.
On a positive note, I'm down 73 pounds at 6 months. I started this process with a 40 BMI so I was considered on the "smaller" end of this whole process. Quite honestly, I wouldn't mind staying where I am. I'm in a M/L shirt and a size 12 pants. My doctor told me I could realistically expect to be at 165, which is only 10 more pounds. I'm not so worried about that anymore. I'd like to give my skin some time to rebound in hopes that some of it will start to look better.

That's awesome Jess!! You are doing great and you look great!! I'm proud of your success!!!
My weight loss is a little slower than yours but I'm so proud of all of us!!
It has been a struggle and some days are better than others!! I'm still not 100% glad I had the surgery, but it's much better than it used to be.
What kind of things have you been eating?

msshellg got a reaction from gixxergirl in April 2014 pre-op group
My April Buddies,
I hate to hear of any difficulties anyone is having. I do get nauseated after eating and especially after drinking the Protein. It makes me feel really bad. Not so much after drinking Water. I was able to "eat" some last night and it went down pretty good.. I out eat in parenthesis because I can only get down a tiny amount. But I am thankful for that!
Gixxergirl please take care if yourself!! You've been doing so good, I pray it all corrects itself.
I'm officially 2 weeks post op today and this is the first day I have felt more like me... I'm talking about from a mental standpoint. I have been so depressed.
