Steviefan1 got a reaction from LipstickLady in Some unexpected NSVs have me LOLing in public. You?
I am 83 pounds down so far from my HW of 258. This week family visited from out of state, and one attraction everyone wanted to go to is Brook Green Gardens in SC. This is an enormous park with hundreds of huge statues and waterfalls and lush gardens and large nature trails with animals in their natural habitat. Well, we walked ALL over the whole place; it took 4 hours! I (and everyone else) was amazed that I could not only walk the trails, but keep right up with them as well! Not even sore the next day. This may not sound like much, but you are talking to a girl that WOULD NOT EVEN WALK ACROSS THE STREET TO THE MAIL BOX! Still beaming!

I chortle, I snort and if you really get me going, I piggle. You know, pee a bit with my giggle.

In my program juice of any kind was not allowed, due to the sugars.
I became a huge fan of Water enhancer/flavorings (Mio, Crystal Light, Dasani, Kool-Aid, and all of the store-brand equivalents). There are tons of different flavors and even now at a little over 6 months out I still rely on them heavily to give me variety.

These are my favorite, too. I love the chocolate chip cookie dough, and also the vanilla almond crunch. I buy them by the box, and eat one just about every day. Better than Snickers!

I too LOVE the Quest Bars but my favorite is the Peanut Butter jelly and then the chocolate Peanut Butter. Quest is the only bars I can truly say I actually enjoy instead of just tolerate!

Well I'd say if you don't really like them, then don't buy them... They look kinda gross ! Lol
Plus the body is said to only be able to metabolize about 30 grams at once anyway...

I was told no Flinstones and only Vitamins meant for bariatric patients. I take Celebrate Vitamins and my two favorite Multivitamin flavors are grape and mandarin orange. I also love their Iron if you need it, it's grape and somehow doesn't taste like iron when you chew it. For Calcium I do the lemon soft chews and they are awesome. I'm all about Celebrate, they taste pretty good and are very very good for you, much more complete nutrition than flinstones IMO.

    Great suggestion!
I'm not sure starting an entire forum for discounts is appropriate. How about start a topic within the food and Nutrition forum and if it becomes wildly popular, we can move it to its own forum.

Good afternoon. I am submitting a suggestion for a subforum. I would love to see a category for sales, discount codes and clearance discounts for bariatric related products. I am very frugal and I bet I am not the only one who would love to know when a discount or sale is available on items we may need pre and post op (ie: Vitamins, supplements, Protein powders, etc). The supplements and other items related to bariatric surgery can get expensive quickly and sharing information to save some money would benefit many forum participants. Thanks for your time and consideration!

I agree with B52. Often the most critical people are obese themselves. It hits a nerve.

Peggy Jean, all of the above comments by these seasoned vets are true. Maybe LipstickLady did get right to the point, real fast. She keeps it real. That's what I love about this site, people don't sugar coat. I would want to know exactly how it is going to be. I know it's hard. I am the 'Palua Deen' of my family. Cook, bake, repeat. I am only 2 months out and I went right back to cooking for the family right away. I know I am lucky. Nothing but nothing bothers me. I can eat along side any other food out there. Just work on putting yourself in this state of mind. As in social situations, most everyone already knows about the surgery, so I like to say, "I'd love to eat that...but pouch says NO." OR If need be, I say, "You eat what you eat' I eat what I eat." Good luck, darlin'
