    I hit my stall

Exactly. Stalls are steps on the way down. Stalls are your body taking a breath. Stalls are normal. Stalls happen to every one of us, no matter if you like it or not! Now, you don't honestly think that with ALL the success stories on this site that we went down like a dropping elevator car, do you ? NO! But all of us got there, and you will too! I know, the frustration feels just like it did before wls, believe all of us, it will be ok, because NOW your body will keep on going and before you know it, YOU TOO will be passing along encouragement to others.

    Vegetable Question

In my opinion, beloved V8 juice is a no-no early out. I absolutely LOVE it; however, (one serving 11.5oz can) even low sodium, has too many carbs (15) and too many sugars (12). I am still slightly diabetic, and even 4 ounces of it raises my blood sugar too much, usually in the mid 200's. If your NUT says you can have 2 or 3 ounces, then it may become a choice for you. I'm not sure about any homemade varieties.
  3. One word? Chrysalis. I have dropped over 110 pounds since May of this year and I feel FANTASTIC! Coming out of that 45 year-long cocoon has made me feel ALIVE!

    Fat is Exhaled!

They will have to come up with more information than that to convince me...I'm pretty sure I was breathing correctly in the last 40 years that I spent with 125 pounds of fat clinging to me for dear life...

    Dealing with Naysayers...

Darlin' your friends and family will be eating their own words (pun intended!) When your health and body dramatically improve with your WLS. The tension will melt a way, and turn into into support when they see your results, and how HAPPY you are. Trust me.
  6. LOVE the PB2 !! the person who invented this stuff (probably a woman!) is a genius.

I Have No Motivation That Pushes Me

WOW! RiskyGirl21 and NewLife'sGr8; Ya'll could not have possibly gotten any better advice as you have from these vets...and even a special way-in from the ever wise, LipstickLady herself! These people ( including all that post after them) KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT! Please, please listen to them. They truly want you to have success like they have...so they are passing on the hard-learned tried and true lessons they have learned. They want to help you save your own life! I don't want to scare you, but I was watching 'My 600 Pound Life' or something like that, and this beautiful Jamaican woman named Dominique just would not comply even after she waited 2 years for her surgery. When she finally got the surgery, , she STILL did not comply. At the end it showed her 6 children burying her. I was so shocked, I burst into tears...
  10. Ginger Snaps is right. This process, although relatively short in comparison with non-surgical approaches, is NOT a straight-down-diagonal slide. I am down over 100 pounds now, and I am currently enjoying (not!) my fourth mini-stall. I usually stay on one about 10-14 days; even though I am careful to make my food and exercise remain consistent. Seven weeks is still pretty early. DO NOT WORRY!! As time goes by, you will be amazed and thrilled...and wonder why you ever fretted in the first place. BTW, if you have a lot to lose, you will encounter more stalls along the way. It's your body taking a well deserved breath.

    What’s Your Halloween Plan?

I wouldn't dare open that enormous, looming, chocolate barn door ever again! I have literally eaten more candy, chocolate and sweets over the last 40 years than the average person could comprehend. I am SO happy that my surgery has taken the sugar monster away that I don't even think about any kind of sweets luring me down that path. Plus, my diabetes helps me keep keen control too. Talk about horrors, can you imagine a super nauseating sugar high, followed by a super strong dump??? ;/

    Quest Bars?

Oh for the love I have for the mighty, infectiously delicious Quest Bar! Every flavor, a small masterpiece. Absolutely the most addicting thing I put in my mouth these days. Eat half? Yeah, I tried that too. I had to cut myself off because I got to where that was just about all I wanted to eat. Three a day. Four. Save one for when I'm on the computer late at night. I will be honest with you. I just about sabotaged myself by ending up with too many carbs in a day ( I'm also diabetic) Even though they are great Protein, sadly, they had to go to the wayside just like so many other tasty things have....
  14. Hmmmm.....perhaps they would rather you wait for surgery until you become "that big" (say, 350-450+) and then you could lose several hundred pounds instead of 100 or so. Then, you could have REALLY sagging skin, and have to get THAT removed like so many do. Also, you could suffer longer with health issues and aches and pains. Sounds good, huh?
  15. What you have been sharing about your personal life with us is one more of the first steps that, at least to me, shows you are serious about this. The other is that you are doing well on your pre-op diet. These are the stepping stones that lead you down the yellow brick road to success. I too, needed the support of my husband that just was not there. Not as opposed as your husband seems to be...however...I just went ahead and did it. Although I have a little more to go, I am close to 100 pounds down. My serious health issues have greatly improved or dissolved. I go to the YMCA and am doing water aerobics, cardio, beginning Zumba, and am learning to swim. I walk every day. I FEEL FANTASTIC!!! and darlin' YOU WILL TOO. I predict that as the pounds melt away, so will his displeasing attitude. I will leave you with this: I feel like I have come out of a 40 year cocoon, and I am feeling SO alive at 55. ((hugs))

    Emotional meltdowns

Hi franyfamilia, I am 3 months out, and am only able to speak from my own experiences. I am sorry this hormone thing has you in tears. Let me start by saying, it most assuredly will pass...fade if you will. Mine is almost completely gone now. When I first came home from the hospital, all kinds of things set me off. My two beloved dogs were so glad to see me...and for some reason, I started crying my eyes out. I repeatedly snapped at my loving, gentle husband for no reason. I laughed uncontrollably when the evening news reported a local criminal was arrested. I hung up on my sister...I later learned from my surgeon's office that this is more common than I thought. They said it was because of all of the years worth of old stored TOXINS that are now being released in the fat that is breaking down and leaving your body. As time went by and my weight went down, this faded and faded. BUT guess what? I swear now it seems like it has turned itself around, and I am SOOOOO HAPPY and pleasant most all the time. I feel like a new person already. I am cheerful and content. I even sing with the radio in the car! Hopefully in just a few more weeks, you too, will feel MUCH improved. You have so much to look forward to!

Some unexpected NSVs have me LOLing in public. You?

I am 83 pounds down so far from my HW of 258. This week family visited from out of state, and one attraction everyone wanted to go to is Brook Green Gardens in SC. This is an enormous park with hundreds of huge statues and waterfalls and lush gardens and large nature trails with animals in their natural habitat. Well, we walked ALL over the whole place; it took 4 hours! I (and everyone else) was amazed that I could not only walk the trails, but keep right up with them as well! Not even sore the next day. This may not sound like much, but you are talking to a girl that WOULD NOT EVEN WALK ACROSS THE STREET TO THE MAIL BOX! Still beaming!
  19. Peggy Jean, all of the above comments by these seasoned vets are true. Maybe LipstickLady did get right to the point, real fast. She keeps it real. That's what I love about this site, people don't sugar coat. I would want to know exactly how it is going to be. I know it's hard. I am the 'Palua Deen' of my family. Cook, bake, repeat. I am only 2 months out and I went right back to cooking for the family right away. I know I am lucky. Nothing but nothing bothers me. I can eat along side any other food out there. Just work on putting yourself in this state of mind. As in social situations, most everyone already knows about the surgery, so I like to say, "I'd love to eat that...but pouch says NO." OR If need be, I say, "You eat what you eat' I eat what I eat." Good luck, darlin'

    please tell me the truth

Pizza helped me get into this mess. So, the opposite must be true to help get me out of it. I take a deep smell or two of it and FORGET IT.

Mood Swings after Roux en Y

You just had major surgery. Your hormones are all over the place...plus, many toxins that were stored in years of old fat are being released now. Don't worry too much, mine lasted about two weeks when I came home. I cried for 20 minutes when my two sweet dogs greeted me when we came home from the hospital. Where did that come from!!?? I also cried while watching my favorite soap General Hospital. I was snappy with my sweet husband and sister. Later that week, I laughed my a$$ off watching the news because a local criminal was caught!

    bad breath

Be cautious of thrush forming in your mouth. It is quite common in the first few weeks...maybe from imbalance of how your body is handling all the changes. It usually coats your tongue to where it looks white, and tastes yucky too. Nystatin solution is usually prescribed.
