Ugh. That sucks. But don't let that idiot live in your head rent free. We have all been there. Many of us are not fully open about the surgery because of people like her. But in the end, who the hell cares? You do you. Not sure where you are on your journey, but you won't have regrets. 6 months out, 91 pounds down, off my meds, in size 6 and only a few pounds to goal and I can tell you that this is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Haters gonna hate.

Sounds like your surgeon was very insensitive! How much wt. are you lifting? If you're developing muscle, that weighs more than fat and might be PART of the number on the scale. Do you look or feel smaller? Are your clothes fitting differently? Does your surgeon hae a nutritionist you can talk to?? How much are "very little carbs"? It's frustrating but don't give up. Stay on the program; stay OFF the scale for a bit; increase water; talk to nutritionist. Celebrate the improvement in your diabetes!! Good luck.

Exactly. Stalls are steps on the way down. Stalls are your body taking a breath. Stalls are normal. Stalls happen to every one of us, no matter if you like it or not! Now, you don't honestly think that with ALL the success stories on this site that we went down like a dropping elevator car, do you ? NO! But all of us got there, and you will too! I know, the frustration feels just like it did before wls, believe all of us, it will be ok, because NOW your body will keep on going and before you know it, YOU TOO will be passing along encouragement to others.

Wow is all I can say. I know I am new to this thread but damn it was not that long ago you were the one who was overweight. How would it have made you feel if some random stranger came up to you and told you all about weight loss surgery. A fat person knows when they are fat they don't need a random stranger coming up to them and handing them a fyler about weight loss surgery. I can tell you if ANYONE came up to me or to my family and did that it would not be a pretty sight. I have been fat my whole life and it took me to the age of 42 to finally decide to do something about it. Do I think that just because I had surgery it gives me a right to preach to overweight people about WLS absolutly not. When I am asked I am very open about my surgery but I would never want to hurt another persons feelings and just approach them and start talking about all the benefits of WLS. Just my opinion.

I remember every single insult and person who felt it was their duty to " help " me with my weight problem. What they did not know is what drove me there besides putting food into my mouth.
People who think that they can save the world by pointing out others obvious flaws according to them is a real turn off. Now by example a person can make a difference.
It is much bigger then you need to have WLS. It is an adjustment that needs to be made from the money making food industry to diet companies to the government that do not promote good eating habits and food choices. It is many who do not have the funds to eat well a lot of folks don't have a clue how to in the first place....
Round and round we go..... Mostly it is a lesson to be learned and it is learned hard.
When I think of all those people who looked at me sideways or laughed at me. Stopped their car in front of my house to stare at the fat girl gardening and so on. I wish I had kicked them right where it hurts..Like it hurt me. While they went away feeling like they had accomplished a good deed by making me cry. They were completely wrong.
Giving advice freely without being asked is a whole lot of bad to deal with. Now if you are asked...Lay it out for them....Otherwise you don't have a clue what makes that person tick and what stage they are at in life. In fact I would say it would be a lot like how that Katie Hopkins of the UK comes across!
This is the hardest addiction to fix. So I personally do not question anyone or judge anyone who struggles with weight as I have been there and done that and will fight the rest of my life this battle of weight gain and loss.......

    Nope. Nope. Nope.
I can't imagine the blow to one's self esteem that would be if a perfect stranger handed you such literature. (You being general/plural.) It's not as if these young women don't KNOW they are fat. It's not as if they don't KNOW they are making bad choices. It's not as if they know ME or know my intentions.
Nope. For me that's a big nope.

In my opinion, beloved V8 juice is a no-no early out. I absolutely LOVE it; however, (one serving 11.5oz can) even low sodium, has too many carbs (15) and too many sugars (12). I am still slightly diabetic, and even 4 ounces of it raises my blood sugar too much, usually in the mid 200's. If your NUT says you can have 2 or 3 ounces, then it may become a choice for you. I'm not sure about any homemade varieties.

    b***h.

It's the INTERNET people!! We are NOT all friends, we are NOT all family. We are NOT all going to agree on everything every time. It's a bunch of strangers behind a computer monitor, free to say what they want without repercussion. It's highly unlikely that everything that is said on an internet forum would be said to someone face to face.
    IT'S OK!!!

You don't like me? I'm OK with that. You hate my opinion? I'm OK with that. You think I'm a b***h? AWESOME!! I really don't care.

I have real life friends and family, as I am sure you do. If I make a few friends here, fabulous. If I make a few NOT friends here (I don't do internet enemies, that's silly), fantastic!
Forums are a place for discussion. An exchange of ideas. A place to share your opinion and hear the opinions of others. We learn and grow from opinions that don't match ours. It doesn't mean we have to change our opinion or that our opinion is BAD or WRONG, it's just different.
You hate this place and want to leave? GO!! Don't let the doorknob hit you.
You love this place and want to stay and argue? PERFECT. Glad to have you.

You like to debate? Love it.

You enjoy playing devil's advocate? Great!

You want to call names? You're the problem.

You want to post inflammatory crap and then erase it? You're the problem.
You want to pass judgement on others for living their lives differently than you? YOU'RE THE PROBLEM.
We have an awesome feature on this forum where you block people you don't like. You will never see their posts again. Use it. If you don't like something you've just read, MOVE ON. You replied to a thread and don't want to read any more about the topic? UNFOLLOW. Someone's advice mortally offends you, say so respectfully and move on. You aren't interested in what you've read or you think someone has moved off topic? Don't read further. It's no big deal. You don't like reading the same question over and over? Don't answer. The world WILL NOT stop because you didn't put your two cents in, I promise you.

Take what helps you, leave the rest. No big $*^%$(&%^ deal. Seriously. You can add to the discussion or you can BECOME the discussion. It's really up to you.

    Things I never thought I'd say...but I did recently:
    "No, seriously... I don't want a bite."
"One more size and it's goodbye Lane Bryant!"
"I don't want to watch TV... I want to get on the treadmill."
"Wait, let me look up the nutrition facts on MFP!"
    "I don't want a Coke Zero, thanks. Water's fine."
"How much Protein does that have?"
"I want a salad for dinner tonight."
That moment when you realize your WLS must be working:
...when your own mother jokingly tells you you look terrible & you need to get new clothes.
...when you bend over and fall out of your bra.
...when someone you haven't seen in a while asks a mutual friend if you've been sick because you look so different.
...when your old favorite pair of leggings makes you look like D. van Dyke in Mary Poppins during the carousel scene (when he yanked his pants onto his hips to mimic a penguin) because the crotch hangs so low now.
...when you don't hear that "shh, shh, shh" sound when you wear pantyhose under a dress.
...when you see collarbones/neck hollows and hip bones you haven't seen or felt in years.
...when someone's arms reach all the way around you when they hug you.

Fantastic year! I wish the surgery had been available 20 years ago, but I'm so fortunate to have had it now. Pre-diabetes, sleep apnea, high cholesterol, high blood pressure...all gone! All the life-changes have been so positive that it feels like a new life in many ways.

My year has been fantastic! I started the process in early January, had my bypass in September and have been feeling better every single day. I have more energy and ultimately more drive to continue to towards my spring goal. I suffer from psoriatic arthritis and my main goal was to be able to ride a bike again this coming spring/summer. In order to do that I had to lose enough weight and get rid of swelling in my joints. I Also got rid of type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure!
I exercise every other day and I feel great. I will be on that bike this spring and I will reach my weight goal this year!
